Both Aang's and Zuko's past were of huge interest to me, and this episode awesomely began helping me to understand it all!

One of my favorite episodes especially in season 1

Darknaru

The tattoos are like a right a passage for airbenders. It means that they are a airbending master which can be obtain by either complete their training or inventing a new move which Aang did with the air scooter.

I remember when I first watched this the coolest part of the episode was when Iroh deflected a fucking LIGHTNING! That was shocking 😏

Soulley

Mark hamill voices the firelord. Dont know if someone mentioned this before tho.

Miklar Sihn

This episode did so much for Zuko's character. While it did a bit for understanding Aang's sadness, it did everything to help us understand who Zuko is. Aang still has the traits he showed before his big catastrophe, while Zuko is shown as a completely different character.

My favorite part about Avatar as a series is how so many of the characters truly develop throughout the series. The development is huge for what was primarily targeted for kids, as well as how much change happens in only 3 seasons.

i like how they basically did this episode again in season 3

Soulley

U didnt show, it but my favorite part of this episode is when Zuko is in his room and u see the flash backs of him smiling and normal then showing his face right now all disfigured and unhappy

Chrome

god you have no idea how much was hinted alone in this episode, try to keep in mind a lot of stuff from this one, because for obvious reasons it's big for the future of the series, but it hinted at, at least 2 other big upcoming things for season 2.

Iroh deflects a lightning bolt, Aang and Zuko’s backstory, Firelord Hamill makes his debut. This has to be one of my favorite episodes for the entire series.

Miasimon

If we count 2-3 parter episodes as 1 episode, this one is easily my 3rd favorite episode.. topped only by a certain one in season 2 and the finale.

Seriously one of the most memorable episodes. Watching this again and seeing your reaction is such a throwback for me. Thanks for making me smile Curtis!

AceOfSerberit

I love the joke the old man made about him not wanting to die! So glad it was left in!

JOSHUA BOULDIN

This is where Avatar truly begins, I feel like everything until episode 12 is like dipping your toe into the Avatar univers, this is the first episode where you get a true feel for what the show truly is and what it'll become. Great reaction.

This one really showed how complex a character Zuko is... He's gonna be really interesting to me going forward. :-)

Ben Wilder

You DID say you had a thing for when stuff happened to kids.
