Yusuke with the overpowering strength and the sad face just like Gon against Pitou.

This one hurt

Gohan vs Cell all over again. Why do they always have to kill the ginger?

Master Zed

This arc is amazing and all and i liked everything it offered and i really enjoyed it alot, and now i'm looking forward to your reaction on the next arc. I might be in the minority here, but next arc is my favorite in the series !

AMAZING HUH? it only GETS BETTER

Jyiber

I just noticed there are a lot of shots of Toguro that he looks like Beaker.

GoldArthur

I wouldn't say that. There are many that consider the Dark Tournament to be the climax of Yu Yu Hakusho. That's not say that the later stuff isn't also very good, but I'd disagree with the idea that it's better.

I always loved that in this case it’s not anger or rage that unlocks his power like so many other moments this and other anime, but it’s allowing himself to feel legitimate sadness that’s the key. It really makes this moment stand out.

Ali6B

I’m currently watching that arc for the first time and I agree

George

Cell flashbacks lol

August B Denys

One part of this episode that I really like is the short sequence of Yusuke and Keiko. It doesn't show much, heck, it doesn't really explain itself (not that things need to), but it shows their friendship. When Yusuke got up and was crying over Kuwabara, he did not call Kuwabara his best friend. We may think Kuwabara and Yusuke have a great camaraderie, but his best friend is still Keiko.

"and yet another fighter you could have saved" a little cell arc flashback man. plus I really liked the sub version of big ginger said: "just as a cherry blossom is a flower among flowers Kuwabara is a man among men"

"just as a cherry blossom is a flower among flowers Kuwabara is a man among men"

"What a bunch of posers." Ogre cheering for Team Urameshi before it was cool. Also we shouldn't be surprised that Sakyo would try to trap the audience in a death trap. This is the man who worked in a pet store just because he wanted to torture animals.

Garlic

Narrorator guy is best narrorator guy.

Aidan

Nurufufu dark tournament best arc of YuYu Hakusho. Change my mind.

SlickRob

That is the really cool thing about this power up that makes it stand out. Yusuke has shown his anger a lot in the series. After all, he's a street punk that comes from a broken home and brushes it off by having this macho bravado, smarm, and anger being his prevailing outside emotions. But here the barrier between Yusuke and his REAL emotions is broken and we see the overwhelming sadness that the loss of both his teacher and his best friend have caused. That's the energy going into this final confrontation and it's so different from most shounen that have come before and after it.

Yu Yu Hakusho is one of, if not my very favorite anime of all time. But God damn I always forget how hard it can be at time to watch Yusuke and co take such brutal beatings. Obviously nothing new to the genre but Yu Yu has to rank up there with DBZ as one of the classic shounen anime with some of the most thorough ass kickings. Made all the worse I think because of the characters ages. Same with HunterXHunter, it’s one thing to watch a character you like catch some hands, but when the character is so young it can get downright uncomfortable watch. Yusuke’s shear desperation to stop Toguro combined with the amount of pain, both physical and emotional, this 15 year old boy is going through is just brutal to sit through.

So that was very Freeza killing Krillin moment there...
