The way Grimmjow killed Luppi was so satisfying. Having Orihime heal the wound over his rank tattoo, and then giving Luppi that grin, before impaling him and killing him off with a Cero to the face. One of my favorite Grimmjow moments!

I am guessing that this being a suicide mission is part of why Ichigo's father, Isshin, agreed he was a worse father than Quince's dad, Ryuken. This is the second suicide mission that Isshin has allowed his son to go through, Isshin also allowed his children to be endangered and left it to Ichigo to protect the other 2 several times. Hell, Isshin could probably have stopped what happened in the first episode. On the other hand, Ryuken attempted to keep Ishida out of danger, while allowing him to go against his suggestion. When Ishida then came back weakened, Ryuken went out of his way to save Ishida and give him back his powers. He then trained Ishida even more ontop of that. Isshin hasnt even trained Ichigo and he is a captain level soul reaper, think how much better off Ichigo would have been if Isshin had trained him before leaving for the soul society. Hell, Isshin let Byakuya and Renji leave Ichigo for dead without even attempting to help him and he would have known everything about what was going on. Damn, now that i have written it all out, he really is a shitty father.

When you think about it when they first went to the Soul Society, it was a suicide mission as well. 12 captains and vice captains, and Ichigo was barely a vice captain level.

When Ichigo entered the soul society he straight up wasnt at lieutenant level. He had trained some after beating a lieutenant at 1/5th of his full power. He reached the level of a lieutenant in the soul society.
