Hello everyone,

I'll give you some updates:

- The planned obsolescence video should be out next month. Hobbie has another job now so production is a little slower, hopefully we should figure it out over the medium term. It's hopefully going to be quite cool and a little different.

- I've started reading Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell for the much awaited video. It is very bad, and boring. I will probably read other books by him and will keep you all updated with my thoughts as I compile them and write the script. I will probably ask for your feedback as I reckon it may be my biggest video yet and I want to take my time with it.

- I've attached the latest outline of my book, with three complete chapters. If you've been a Patron for a while, or have scrolled back through the old posts, you'll have seen the money and inflation chapters already. They've been updated, plus the supply chain chapter should be new for everyone. As always, enjoy - and feel free to comment. Interested to know your views on the new title, which is hopefully more interesting and I think fits some themes of the existing book, as well as stuff I've done before.

Overall, I appreciate all of your support as always and would ask you to be patient with me. My book is due 1st September (just the draft, there will be plenty of editing time). I may try to get this extended one month as I feel behind but we'll see how it goes. Like I said, the Sowell video may take some time. However, I am leaving LSE July 31st so I think after these hurdle's we'll be looking at a more frequent video schedule.

I'm really looking forward to the Sowell video. I recognize he's something of a propagandist for libertarians, but it seems like a lot of criticisms from the left of right-leaning economists are targeted more at Friedman or Hayek, who drank the kool-aid pretty early in their careers. Sowell is such an intriguing case because he's the ex-Marxist who got a PhD in econ and became his former self's worst enemy, but he's rarely discussed or criticized by the left. I think that lack of criticism leaves room for people to more uncritically consume his arguments (which I find vacuous, based on what I've seen and read). I've been listening to the audiobook version of Sowell's Marxism book and it's... decent? So far, it's mostly been a review of the theory without much rebuttal. I mean, he was a former Marxist so he has a pretty good grasp of the theory. Additionally, my impression is that its target audience is more academically inclined people, unlike some of his other "introductory" books, which are almost pure agitprop. However, I've heard from a review or two that the final few chapters are where he really starts to get off track. Anyway, if you're going to tackle Sowell, that book might be worth a skim.

That chapter on money was fascinating to read, do you have any additional readings on the topic to understand it a bit more in depth?
