The long awaited Sowell video is coming...I'll probably share a script in a couple of months

Love the video! A creative suggestion: when you talk about the independence of equality and social mobility, you illustrate by hypothesizing a prison where prisoners are randomly assigned unequal positions. This actually is pretty much the premise of a 2019 Spanish film called The Platform, where occupants of a prison are randomly assigned to a level of a large, vertical prison in which the assigned level determines the prisoners’ access to food. Those at the top feast, and those at the bottom starve. Describing this movie might be an even more interesting way of illustrating your point. Of course, whether you use your generic prison or The Platform, the response from critics with of course be something along the lines of “but social mobility isn’t random or unfair. People determine their mobility by choosing how hard to work”. So it may also be worth building in a response in anticipation of this.

It's funny, I was literally listening to a podcast which mentioned this film today and was thinking of using it as an example. I also agree on the expected counterargument. Thank you!

Really looking forward to this one, as I’m very engaged with libertarians and grinding through Economics for Basic People or whatever it’s called right now. On the mobility issue, the level of mobility claimed by libertarians is so contrary to my intuitions and observations that I’m skeptical. I suspect the mobility is mostly accounted for by life cycle events like getting your first job, getting married, inheriting your parents’ house when they pass, etc.etc.
