The symphogear system has multiple locks build into it. The system itself unlocks those in time to increase efficiency in fighting. So it adapts itself to the user. You can see that in Tsubasas gear in the 1st season concert, the gear later in that season and this season. That's also why the appearance are similar but still differs per user. Like the headset, headpieces and gloves from maria (black gungir) and hibiki are identical or at least similar but the rest like the scarf and cape aren't the same.

And a clarification from me, I can't remember when they mentioned it but it was easy to miss and it's not really a spoiler. Kanades gungnir wasn't destroyed, when there's damage to a wielder/gear it doesn't necessarily damage the relic, but in Kanades case it was severally damaged. Then was recovered secretly and repaired. Also as a side note, the higher the output of a gear is the lighter the colours are. For example the lower the sync rate and output is the more black and darker shades of their primary colour are present in the design. ie xdrive is all light shades, bright colours and white because it requires stupid levels phonic gain.

Welcome to the higher budget, better shading, lighting and animation all over. Gungnir is a shattered relic, so there are fragments of it. Hibiki has one, Maria has another. Remember, they made a big deal in the 1st season about "complete" relics, vs fragments our girls have. Also yea, that is the Moon, Saturn is a gas giant, so it wouldn't lose chunks :) Also, Maria was humming the song from the beginning (Ringo, or Apple) she was also the one singing it.

Ahhh snap! So now we gotta figure out if this is Kanade's repaired relic shard or a different shard of Gungnir 🤔 Ahh so many questions! Oooh that's an interesting bit of info! So if Maria's is fully black/dark, does that imply she needs to be drugged similarly to Kanade to be able to use Gungnir?🤔 Haha can't wait to watch the next ep tomorrow!
