AYI want to first off apologize for not interacting more here on Patreon and not answering posts more often.I have a tendency to post these at the end of the work day on Fridays and then I do not go back to the computer at all during the weekend and then by Monday I have entirely forgotten about the post and all the comments left on it.Just let it be known that I read all of them and you are exceptionally kind caring about my brain deteriorating after the cavalcade of constant curses that was two weeks ago.As thanks I will now proceed to answer every single comment on this particular post starting Monday even if there is nothing of substance to respond to (this will not go well).Alright anyway, onto The Juice...

Video

First off, the animation depicted above...This is a WIP clip ripped from the start of the first episode. It is very obviously not done, it doesn't even have a background and its full of god damn photoshop artifacts (the white little specks) that I must please beg you to ignore, but here you can actually see some of the more classic animation, as we did in TTS, done in our new project. This will then mesh with the motion comic style in a way that both probably feels more interesting whilst hopefully not alienating you by being way too different. You can also see some proper character interaction...For context, this series, Hunter: The Parenting, takes place in the year 2006 in the county of Norfolk, UK, the family of main characters living just outside the township of Warham (look it up). This means we will ONLY reference things from 2006 or earlier and probably things more relevant to the UK and Norfolk in particular.Kitten and Marckus, as a couple, are incredibly hyped for the release of Team Fortress 2, Door is a staunch hater of the Queen and british bacon purely on principle, Boy just wants to play Halo 2 Deathmatch and Big-D is  fucked he probably doesn't even know what year it is.

If you have any things from 2006 that we can make funny references to, especially if they're British, ESPECIALLY if they're relevant to Norfolk, ESPECIALLY if they are FUNNY, please post them here and we may use them for, like, world-building or something.

General Progress

As has been screamed about time and time again, things are still genuinely going well. The episode IS unfortunately going to be 28 minutes long which is what we DIDN'T WANT, but we've made significant progress on it, it looks better than anything I've ever worked on in my personal opinion and we know for a fact that the two episodes that follow this pilot will be shorter and more in-line with what we actually want for episode length. The current prime worry is figuring out what the turn-over time actually will be.Whilst we were very optimistic about our circular slot schedule mentioned in our previous updates initially, we currently do not really know exactly how long an episode will take to make and thus we have a hard time entirely dedicating ourselves to it just in case it would literally take a year to get back to any given series with that kind of schedule.I know for a fact that you are one of the most patient viewerbases ever, but even I do not think you can consistently wait a full year to get back to any given series due to the fact that we're working on three different projects at once, with three episodes planned for each slot in the rotation, with perhaps a two month wait between each episode. We do still want this to work, we REALLY do, we want the release times to be shorter, because we do not want to lock ourselves down once again to a single setting, and there are some projects here we desperately want to work on because they'd be so much fun to do.In the end, its about balancing our creative freedom, turn-over time and viewer retention. It's not easy, but as soon as we have at least two episodes out, we will know better if this rotating format is what we should go for or not.The one thing we know is that Hunter: The Parenting will NOT be our only thing, it cannot be.I'll tell you as soon as we've come to a decision, of course.Otherwise, we're actually working on releasing an Update Video on YouTube soon enough going into a lot of stuff I've covered here on Patreon, perhaps even some extra stuff I haven't talked about here yet.

Also due to popular demand I have attached a shitty phone picture of the GOBLIN CRIMINAL who FUCCKED UP my LEGS last update. Her name is Buffy and she loves biting hands very softly and dragging her shitted ass on things causing environmental damage to my baby son (his immune system will be EXTREMELY powerful).

Anyway, I believe that's it for this update...I will now go and have a weekend.Until next time, have a good one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will you reference MySpace and Facebook, or Napster? Oh, will you go into the rainbow party scare?

PyroticNapalm

You weren't kidding, there is a Warham on the coast of Norfolk. Lmao, the new videos look like they'll be great. Thanks for continuing Alfa.

Xocoxoco

This honestly looks really fucking good. The bouncing fun style of tts, mixed with some body movements and faces really makes it entertaining to look at.

Drewscifer

My last pet a, chinchilla, was named Buffy. 2006 stuff: About the start time of the HD DVD vs Blueray war. Could potentially have gamers bicker about that. Iphones won't be launched till next year. Subprime morgage crisis kicks off what will become the 2007-2008 financial crisis. Pluto gets demoted to dwarf planet December 29 2006 UK finally settles it's post WW2 loan debt with the US. Oh and lots of people died but that happens most years.

Exonator

The voices of each character is very very very recognizable, good that you you kept the same voice crew as before, since they are all brilliant, and much better than most voice actors in big movies or series

Barsett

Thank you for the update, super looking forward to what is coming. Also truly that is a GOBLIN CRIMINAL, just look at those eyes. Plotting.

Eve Mizgala

"but even I do not think you can consistently wait a full year to get back to any given series" I don't know about everyone else, but I had calendar events set for the yearly release of Hellsing Ultimate abridged anakin_you_underestimate.gif

Ironclad

Pet that dog.

Dancing Bard

Fun things from 2006 to consider adding: William Shatner auctioned off a kidney stone for $25,000. Seems topical now that he went to space for real! Sad but you could easily make a joke about it: Steve Irwin got shanked by that stingray. RIP Zinidine Zidane headbutted that guy in the World Cup Pluto got officially demoted to a dwarf planet Vice President Dick Cheney shot that guy in the face on a hunting trip. "I thought he was a deer" is still funny to some of us Americans.

CrimsonQuill086

Christopher Eccleston's tenure as Doctor Who (and the arrival of David Tennant) would be good references! Also, I am LOVING the comedy, so damned much, every character is just BOUNCING off each other nicely!

Mustapha Mond

This is great, and I love it, but I do have one question. I don't know much about the lore of this world, so could someone in the comments explain how it's possible that Door looks so much older than Big D, despite being his son?

Wi-Gi

Liked the video :D

Alex Otten

What does this have to do with Squid Game?

Amy Cheuka

Ok my trash goblin brain needs to know, were not-Magnus and not-Kitten upgraded to being an actual relationship in this series, or am I misunderstanding the term "couple" as it relates to them

Fluffer

Since you are going to answer every comment, have an unrelated question. What is your favorite word in the English language?

Cody Hugill

2006 Famous stories of the time in the UK: 'bottlenose whale was in the River Thames in London', 'Pluto is downgraded from a planet to a dwarf planet', 'Borat' came out, 'Saddam Hussein is executed', 'Italy wins the 2006 World Cup in Germany', 'Google purchases YouTube for US$1.65 billion', ''Bird flu' discovered in Scotland', 'John Prescott admitted he had an affair with one of his secretaries', 'July had hottest day on record', 'Steve Irwin's death', 'Richard Hammond crash' & 'KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko death'.

HunterApex

Take all the time you need. I'm just happy for the content you update, and I'm especially happy that you're doing well.

Servethedark

I feel like I should mention the travesty that is Uwe Boll's Bloodrayne released in 2006, which just so happens to also feature vampires

KyrieFortune

I will only say I have misread "Norfolk" as "Nosgoth", still vampires tho, and possibly wraiths since they are part of the WoD I guess? Also, they boyfriends now

Divide

I like it and I'm happy to see the gang together again. Well done.

Bunny Waffles

For what felt like years shooting someone with a rubber band, or a nerf gun, or something along those lines and saying "Sorry, I thought you were a deer" then promptly doing it again was the peak of humor back around that time.

Gray Fox

“magic card game and clowns” I think we found were magnus’s soul was for a while while in tzeentchs realm

steven kiland

This looks great, I appreciate that you stayed with the characters of TTS, they were what made it fun far more than the 40K setting.

Hokuto Shirou

I already love this! <3 Looks so fun so far.

Nightingale33

It looks great and I am very hyped. Need me that Door and Boy interaction and all the rest of it. I am so glad you people keep trucking on!

Cartoonjunkies

Seeing this animation style thing being done again activates the neurons. Excited to see it. Good work!

Sam K

What will be their TF2 mains? (Also, is anyone else now vainly hoping for a TF2 video in the style of the Stellaris video?)

xXPaintedLadyXx

"Kitten and Marckus, as a couple." They're a couple? O.O... YES

Trevor Bond

Hey, the scheduling is an experiment, the pilots are always long, and life continues to improve as we get these updates. And as something of a fan of British humor anyways (Canadian here but I have a lot of friends across the pond), I approve of general mockery of the Islands in good fun! Edit: Goodness, but you do have a cute goblin!

Toblerone Jones

I heard they actually call trucks lorries over there

IceBridget

So nice to see the gang back together (with some cool new threads too!) keep up the great work, we will still be here x

John

This is amazing. I love it all

Sergey Mikhaylov

I literally started laughing when I saw the new characters. Thank you for sticking with the tts characters they’re what mattered not the 40k setting. Also with regard to 2006 things I feel like you should really stress how far technology has come like I remember in 2006 I was fascinated that you could watch early YouTube videos on a PSP. Or like dumb phones remember those? Man it feels weird to think that 2006 is like retro or a long time ago.

Codemasterc

Weren't you paying attention? He doesn't respect time, it's an odious concept after all.

Mary Jeschke

2006 memories... personally I started to get really into listening to podcasts around that time (they were invented in 2004) and was irritated that I had to explain to all the less tech savvy people in my life what exactly these were. I also remember the hype in tech news about the iphone in development and thinking it would NEVER replace the flip phones. Blogging was still HUGE, and everyone I knew had a LiveJournal. Oh yeah, and white wolf released 2nd Edition of the Exalted RPG in 2006.

Nerrock

Judging from that short click i am going to enjoy the new content <3

G0d_Damn

Beautiful new content! What is the most tedious task you deal with in After Effects/other program when it is not particularly glitching out?

MrCultist

This pleases the machine spirits

A Birb

It's beautiful. Nuff' said.

Renic

I am loving it already.

superBlast

Oh man this is gonna be awesome!

GUYFUN

Oh yes, i'm much more enjoying the animation style on this compared to what came before, which was admittedly just an explosion pretty much so I can't judge too far into that. Oh and happy pre halloween if you're one of the few comedy goblins who get into that vibe in swedonia. >:)

Santo

Holy hell. I can see the TTS DNA in this, but it is very clearly its own thing. Not to mention, the animation is a step above from what I've seen you guys put out before, the art is wonderful, and overall I love it. Can't wait for the whole t hing.

Aaron edison

Genuinely grateful for all the happiness that you have brought me over the years thank you, side note will there be little TTS easter eggs to look out for?

Jack Stokes

While TTS helped get me more and more hooked on 40k lore and content, and though I wished things were different in that you could continue the TTS cannon story; watching this short video showed me that I enjoy in equal part that characters you made. I signed up my support immediately and cannot wait for the releases you will put out in this style of content.

Salvatore Gagliano

I'm proper digging this!! i bet "Dad" is going to be crippled in a different way every episode.

Jurijs Matvejevs

Hell, I newer knew that I do miss the nerdy and sarcastic Red One so much!

Cigmaier

Expressions really add to it.

Graedius Reximus

This may be way too meta but it would be hilarious if some form of parody of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines was in some way mentioned. Maybe in this timeline the joke game of Frankenstein (that was mentioned on one of the radio loops as also being by Troika in VtmB) was the game that got made or something.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

I mean, I would definitely say the events of Bloodlines also happened in our particular version of the universe so, like, yeah, that'd totally be a thing and we could definitely make a reference to it if we happen to remember.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

They take if only slightly more work to get right but it's still way, way less than animation that involves, like, yknow, lipsyncing and what-not.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

He must definitely get all kinds of fucked up but that does seem to apply to most characters here.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

And I am genuinely grateful for your genuine gratefulness THANK YOU. And yeah, without a doubt, but most of them hardly even count as easter eggs to be completely honest, they're a bit too big and obvious.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

I really appreciate it! It isn't that much more than TTS animation-wise, but even a smaller change such as this does make things a bit more interesting doesn't it?

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

I dunno if you saw the previous little thing we posted that depicted Big-D speaking to Marckus in the panel-format but that, I'd say, is a better representation of that particular format! Nevertheless, we will be using both as it makes things more interesting and fun. It allows us to depict seamless action without being bound down by the restraints imposed by the simplicity of the 'paper dolls'. They are better used for dialogue, which is what we will use them for! And UNFORUTNATELY, we don't have much of a halloween, but I REALLY want to because I love the aesthetics and the atmosphere of Halloween. Will deffo make it more of a thing in my kid's life than it ever was in mine.

Nick

I miss the TTS voice :(

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Oh lord, a lot of things. Just generally when files are too heavy to animate with anything even approaching smoothness, or when render-times becomes far longer than they're worth, remember the shortcut commands, rerendering audio when I realise the timing is off during editing, etc etc... There is a lot of things, but its worth the ulcers.

Santo

Absolutely. It really shows that old truth of small changes having big impact. Cause as you said, it's not much more, but it definitely enhances the whole thing. Thanks a bunch!

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

You know, this actually gave me the idea of doing an in-universe podcast with shitty microphones where Kitten and Marckus babble about things relevant to 2006 and their own lives and then they force Door onto the Podcast to, like, I dunno, react to some funny video, and then Door in turn forces them to include Boy on the Podcast and then Boy starts acting into an Angry Reviewer-sona and reviews movies he thinks are shitty or whatever and they all have bad microphones on purpose and its probably, like, recorded through Gmod or something, if we do this let it be known it was your fault.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

It could not be helped. We are married to the characters as we made them, and we want to continue to use them. Like REAL fanfiction writers.... And you have a very good point, its absolutely true that technology has gone crazy since then.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

THANK YOU. And yeah, the designs were fun to see.... designed. Big-D was probably the most JoJo-esque choice of the lot, Marckus just looks like a nerd with an Angel-inspired trenchcoat, Kitten is a gamer and Door is the handyman he had to be. Boy has an alternate design where he has a shirt that says "Skate or Die", its extremely good.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Yknow, we did catch ourselves ALMOST making the GRAVE MISTAKE that is having the characters in Britland call a torch a "flashlight". Very dangerous territory we tread.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Yeah absolutely, you are totally right of course, thank you very much for your understanding! And yeah, making fun of Norfolk in particular we just cannot cease and the reasons why are incredibly hard to even comprehend.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

We needed to somehow place Kitten in the family but it felt so weird to have him be like 'a cousin' or 'another brother' or whatever and we already knew that the two had chemistry and screamed at eachother like an old couple so we just decided to go the non-coward route and literally make them into an old couple that scream at eachother. Peace in world.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

It feels QUITE GOOD. Door and Boy are a lot of fun to write, especially with this dynamic. Boy is a bit less bending and a bit more 'please I just wanna play xbox back home'. A bit more like a normal child from 2006, yknow?

Collecter343

I bet the search requests for Warham, Norfolk after this post went up greatly.

Tarorc79

i want this to be the same crew we know... emps, dorn, magnus, kitten ect ect to just be put in the new situation due to 4th degree warp fuckery and then continue the tts adventure in several other universes, could be them trying to find their way back or something :) but thats just my hopes.. im sure what ever it will be will be fun :)

Red

Ooooh, I likey. Definitely different from what you were doing before, but same general writing style, and I like your writing style. "Epic failure" line delivery had me holdin in laughter at work, good stuff

Trevor Bond

Self parody (in the sense of the nations we live in and love) is a hoot. I live in Ontario, the 'World's biggest swamp'. Where if the moose don't run you over the mosquitos as big as dogs will drink you dry and dry socks are a myth lol!

Morgan L.F

I'M CURIOUS ABOUT "MOM!" Mum everest! Seriously, there's nothing like your wife/ex coming home to put a stop to all the fun, but what about Erda??? Like any man can create life by himself. Like Sky God can create life without Mother Earth. As the Sparks warned, when she's on her best behavior, don't be tempted by her favors, never turn your back on mother earth! I am sorry I will be quiet now.

Morgan L.F

Their banter with Cat Companion and Brother is priceless.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Not sure about that, I don't think any one of us have even played it. Only one among us who even like Halo is Thunder lol.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

I thought you said 'Fakenham' to make a joke saying that Warham is fake but then I looked and yeah Fakenham is literally south of Warham, that's great.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Not sure about the latter but the former... probably to some extent? Jokes about MyScape ARE pretty funny....... Unless there is some even more archaic "social media" thing available we can reference, we probably would.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Thank you! And yeah, us finding it was completely incidental, we were gonna set the new show somewhere near the town of Binham as it is relevant to a piece of folklore we decided to work into the episode and Warham was just... there. We could not pass this opportunity up.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

I really appreciate your very nice words, thank you. While it isn't exactly lip syncing or, fuck, even real, proper animation, we still try to make it as entertaining-looking as possible with our limited everything. Hopefully, this will continue to work for us far into the future.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

It is a good name for a funny, powerful little critter. Oh god, the financial crisis..... might be worth bringing up in some manner if only to make things more dour. And the fucking Pluto thing is hysterical, need to figure in that somehow.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Yeah, these are the ones we feel most comfortable with, of course. Whilst we want to include and lift up new characters and new talent, we gotta ground ourselves first, and this is a solid way of doing it I feel.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Plotting, scheming, planning on finding things to chew on that she isn't supposed to chew on. Dangerous THUG is what she is.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

This IS a good point and we will take it into consideration, but we would still rather avoid this being the situation if we can.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

The fucking deer thing is very, very funny. If we can come up with a clever way of implementing it, we absolutely should.

Joshua Crager

I suppose Ultima Online or a text based MMO, like Habitat, would be hilarious to reference. I'd label them as social media, outside of forum postings or AOL online chat. I forgot about Newgrounds! Man this series is going to hit me right in my teenage years. As for the rainbow party scare, it went hand in hand with the Chicken Noodle Soup books. A faux scare, when someone published their teenage sexual fantasy as a legitimate thing teenagers did, and not something they heard swingers do. Basically, parents thought their socially awkward children bought different color lipstick for this particular activity, and not to "express" themselves as goth or punk. About the only reason I remember the scare, is my recent chats with an old swinger who talked about his escapades in high class swinger clubs. Hedonistic temples to pleasure in all forms, according to him, using my words. He explained that rainbow parties did occur there, but was simply a fad that faded just as fast as anything does when you're coked out of your mind.

Drewscifer

If I remember right part of it started because in the early 2000s astronomers were finding a bunch of them, most notably the one they nicknamed Xena which they then changed to Eris, goddess of strife and discord, because of the arguments over whether it was a planet or not.

Dancing Bard

Something that might work would be that both Cheney and his friend are vampires (easily believable to Americans) and that's why he survived being shot in the face. A character could be like how did he even survive that? And the response could be all politicians are vampires, didn't you know that?

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

You could believe that if you please. But we are not having this story bogged down by anything but the trappings and personalities of the former. We do not want to get stuck.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

VERY NICE. Thank you! I’ve come to realise that this style of writing fits this universe better than it did the former. It’s liberating, in its ways.

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

In my mind, Big-D has, like, an ungodly amount of ex-wives and husbands, many of whom he also had children with. I want to dwell into this fact further but for this particular plotline, it isn’t all too relevant.

Michael Donathan

Going on the near death fever dream theory i am going to be watching these for any easter eggs in em hehe. Like say Kit starts hearing voice saying "hold on just hold on sir!"

Mark Harris

Chances for cameos from Not-Vulkan and Not-Corvas?

Michael Donathan

It is update day again! My liver quivers with excitement!

Alfabusa (Ogre Poppenang)

Nothing solid planned for this particular season. Assuming we would do more seasons in the future, we might see at least one of them! Albeit, the idea of Vulgan just being dead and buried is very funny and VERY morbid.

Morgan L.F

Vulgan's body just turns up somewhere different every episode. Nobody moves it, nobody touches it, it's just always there. Corvin Clorax hangs out at the local coffee shop writing depressing poetry and badgering people about how they should boycott Amazon for it's horrible working conditions. Later in the series he tries to organize a general strike of Amazon employees and ends up on the run from Bezos's army of killer union-busting robots.
