Leo Cap

fun fact: when the blue fellow, Dorian, asked for a "vortex manipulator, fresh off the wrist of a time agent" + "...I said OFF the wrist..." ...take 3 guesses who that time agent might be

Ben

I mean Dorium did describe the time agent as handsome so that can only be one person!

Nathan Jasper

That music was just top-notch "squeaky bum time" good. Of all the things to come back, living plastic! Good ol' Autons. I love how dark this episode got in terms of hopelessness. It made you feel everything and question everything. Moffat's the best! Matt and Karen elevate these roles and Alex thrown in the mix too....as Cleopatra? Recipe for success.

Sorcerer Rumburak

Noticed? This is one of the episodes that goes back to Season 1, Episode 1, “Rose” — the return of the Autons, so to speak. The living plastic. Same gun in their hands.

Jacob King

Those aren’t celebrations at the end those are galaxies exploding. The Amy/Rory stuff in this episode is excellent.

Leo Cap

I've only watched up until the end of 13's run so don't know if this an actual reveal in the show, or if it's just "confirmed canon", but apparently Jack got hacked to pieces by the Headless Monks and that's how he became the Face of Boe

Jacob King

My only question about it being Jack is there’s clearly a hand in that box which is a bit grim. All the time agents we’ve ever seen fit the “handsome time agent” description. James Masters, anyone? I think they were setting up the exact red herring around Rory’s identity that Angela fell for.

Merkavar

Sees all the suns in the universe exploding and she thinks fireworks and celebrations :D

Leo Cap

I think the voice from the crack in the tardis was just a "generic sinister voice" -- remember that the Dream Lord was just a figment of the Doctor's imagination and not a real character (which is a bummer because I kinda wanted to see more of him lol)

Fr. Brench

Also, the date for "Amy's time" was also the Saturday airdate for the last episode of the season :)

Cody Eckert

@Lord_Leo that doesn't make much sense though. Spoilers: . . . . . . . . . . . . . In Children of Earth he literally gets vaporized from an explosive that was implanted inside his body, and he regrew from basically nothing. If the Monks chopped him up, he should have bled out and regrown as he came back to life.

Ben

So they did actually film at Stone Henge, however, they were only able to film there for a short amount of time and the had to finish on a set they built which they aptly nicknamed 'Foam Henge'. Also, you would probably be ok including a bit of the score in the edited reaction, loads of other reactors do and they are fine.

Cody Eckert

Sorry for the double-post. I accidentally hit Enter before I was done typing. Since I know you've already watched episode 13 at this point, I don't consider this a spoiler, but I'm surprised you didn't call out that 9.5 (10.5 if you count The Beast Below, which takes place in future Space London) of the 13 episodes in season 5 take place on Earth. I remember in your End of Time Part 2 reaction you mentioned you specifically wanted more space adventures and other planets and things rather than Earth-centric stories. The Angels snapping people's necks bothered me to. The whole expanded lore they gave the Angels in those episodes bothered me tbh. They talk now. Really? Any picture or video of an Angel magically becomes one? Why? Images of an Angel can infect your eyes and turn you into an Angel. Come on. Things stop being as scary when you explain them or you give them too many abilities. We didn't need a Weeping Angel lore drop. Should have kept them simple, vague, and ambiguous IMHO. The whole "phoning the time vortex doesn't always work, but the TARDIS rerouted the call" thing really annoyed me. If Winston was trying to call The Doctor, and the TARDIS is smart enough to know this and reroute calls through time itself, then why does she reroute it to River instead of just ringing the damn phone in the door, so The Doctor gets the call? Always seemed like a poor explanation/exposition drop to get River into the story because plot. "I'm not exactly one to miss the obvious" while completely missing the obvious lmao. Never change Doctor. The Doctor's speech at the end is probably my favorite moment of the season. It's not my favorite Doctor speech. It's not even my favorite Matt Smith speech. But it's a super fun moment in an otherwise boring (to me) season. The Romans aren't the Cybermen or the Pilot Fish Santas, they are the Autons. The same villain from Season 1 Episode 1. The Rory-bot almost overcoming his programming then shooting Amy anyway is so tragic, especially because he seems fully aware of what he's doing but is completely unable to stop himself. The explosions at the end weren't celebrations or fireworks, they were galaxies exploding because the TARDIS blew up and took the rest of the Universe with it. This episode was essentially all The Doctor's enemies in the FA stage. They are now entering the FO stage :) I don't think the voice in the TARDIS at the end is meant to be the Dreamlord. I could be wrong on that, but the Dreamlord was a fiction of The Doctor's creation because of the pollen. He's not a real person/entity. He only exists as a representation of the darker parts of The Doctor's mind. I love Rory as a companion. I think I prefer him over Amy tbh. Amy is nowhere near my favorite modern Who companion. Don't get me wrong, I like her. But not as much as some others. I hope you enjoyed your snack!

Frank (MetronV) Izzy

"I don't know how they're gonna complete this season..." Probably with the wibbly wobbly timey wimey shenanigans that are the hallmark of Doctor Who. And I'm so here for it. :)

Andrew

So it’s not the dream lord whose voice we hear talking about silence, it’s not clear who the voice is but the dream lord was only ever effectively a hallucination and isn’t a real entity, but the finale episode is so fun and timey Wimey I hope you love it

Jeremy B

Hi Angela, I'm guessing you filmed this video before your operation. I hope you're continuing to heal well and feeling much, much better. I love this epic two-parter. The acting is top-notch and I love Matt’s speech as he addresses all the space ships above his head! I'll leave detailed comments until next week in case people are watching alongside you for the first time. A few things I can say at this stage though - the bright lights at the very end were every sun going supernova at every moment in history. As the Doctor pleads as they lock him in the Pandorica, if the TARDIS explodes, that explosion will be felt across every moment in history and wipe out every star. As a result, the entire universe will never have existed. That existential threat is enough to bring all the Doctor's enemies together to stop the Doctor from ever triggering that explosion (as they believe he is destined to do). Little do they know, that despite the Doctor's protestations, the explosion is already happening and that by locking him in the Pandorica, they are preventing him from stopping it. This alliance has drawn elements from Amy’s childhood to create a trap to draw Amy and the Doctor in – and thereby ensnare him. As the Nestenes did in Christopher Ecclestone’s first episode, here the Nestenes (as part of the alliance) have used plastic to create Roman duplicates. Only much, much more realistic than shop window dummies! The voice you hear saying ‘silence will fall’ wasn’t intended to be the Dream Lord by the way. The Dream Lord wasn’t real, but a manifestation of the Doctor’s darker side and self-loathing. The shared dreams were influenced by psychic pollen that had fallen in the TARDIS time rotor during the course of that episode.

A fantastic episode, so good you'll notice great stuff with every rewatch, for example before the Doctor gives his speech you can hear him drop the microphone and go oh sorry/oops sorry, then going on to do his awesome 'Don't you know who I am!' speech, which is all very Doctor Who, the great and the silly all in one fantastic bundle.

Molly Campbell

I'm kinda sad that you got SO stuck on the dream thing that it'll make the conclusion a disappointment. Hoping I'm wrong, though. Guess we'll see next week!

Ejigantor

They pulled out every alien costume they had in storage for that final scene - the thing from Love & Monsters was prominently positioned, and I was glad to see it, since it's a pretty cool design. They also name-dropped the Zygons, a Classic Who villain we haven't seen, but who have been mentioned a time or two. I really enjoy the "Let someone else try first" monologue - the year this aired (or maybe the year after) there was a somewhat viral video of a little boy performing the monologue (in costume) I think at his school talent show, and I remember it being pretty adorable. I think you may have missed a good line because you were saying something - at the end of explaining the Pandorica myth as the Doctor goes around the back of it, River says to Amy "I hate good wizards in fairy tales, they always turn out to be him" which is then subverted in that it turns out he's the trickster warrior who drops out of the sky and wrecks people's existence in this fairy tale - To quote Arnold in True Lies: Yeah, but they were all bad.

Siti Dee

I haven't watched this two parter in awhile but goddamn rory desperately trying convince himself: "I'M RORY!!!!!" gets me every damn time. Great performance from Arthur and Karen!

Alkaris

Not sure if you've noticed, but the further we go into learning more about River Song, the less she knows of the Doctor, because the book she has is pretty much full of spoilers of the Doctor's history, or rather future, time is always catching up to her present time, since she's always meeting The Doctor in the wrong order. If you remember way back in Season 4 when River first meets the Doctor in the Library she listed off a bunch of names of places she met The Doctor in.

Ben “Bentendo” Dawson

In regards to Jack and your hope for him to appear, just remember that when River bought the Vortex Manipulator is was taken off the arm of a handsome young Time Agent...

funnylilgalreacts

I think I let a narrative roll through my brain too much and got stuck on it

Nathan Jasper

Jack is a Deadpool variant confirmed 😆 Captain Deadpool

Clara Hines

Yeah, but why does that mean it's Jack? It's not like he's the only time agent, and he's an EX time agent by the way.
