I've been looking forward to seeing your thoughts on Andor season 2 ever since it came out. Glad you've finally got time to watch it now!

Loved Andor seasons 1-2 but will wait for the edited version for these longer shows. 😃

A few rambling thoughts. - Angela, I appreciate the outros after each episode: a short break to digest what's happening before moving on to the next one. This especially works for this season of Andor. - The rare "oners" (long shots without an edit) continue this season. One amazing tracking shot in episode 2x1 follows Mon around the front of her house, cutting just before she meets Luthen. - A sharp-eyed Youtube commenter pointed out a detail when we first see Krenic speaking to the Imperials in 2x1. The camera slowly tracks across the table top as Krenic begins his spiel. The glasses of wine(?) in front of the attendees are all full with the exception of the two guys from the Ministry of Enlightenment: theirs are practically empty. - Another poster up-thread mentioned Yavin 4. A surprising number of reactors I've watched missed that reveal at the end of 2x2. - The thing about the Maya Pei Brigade that stood out to me on first watch was the thick American accent of the two bickering leaders. I think the remaining members, maybe with one exception, have British or other accents. And the actor playing the leader with the curly hair is Tony Gilroy's son. - Maya Pei was brought up by Saw in Season 1, in his first conversation with Luthen. She (and the Brigade I guess) were on the list of rebels Saw considered "lost." - The dance tune at the end of 2x3 is based on the music cue we hear when we're introduced to Niamos ("space Miami") back in 1x7. Looking forward to next week's episodes!

Something that's never talked enough about is generational trauma, because most people don't seem to understand what the signs of generational trauma is, and why it's psychologically damaging to ones self-esteem, and stagnates their growth because they're beholden to someone else's standards and beliefs, and no matter what they do it is ever enough, however hard they might try to please that one person.

BBY means the Before the Battle of Yavin. That's the the original Star Wars movie, where they blew up the first Death Star. So when you see something like BBY 4, it means 4 years before the first Star Wars movie.

I think Mon sees her daughter through the lens of her own history and her own troubled relationship with her husband. Mon rebelled against the tradition in her own way even as she was trapped by it. Her daughter might be a mirror to Mon, strong willed, rebellious, her choices are leading her down a very different road. I think the real problem with Mon trying to offer her an out is that her daughter isn't looking for an out, she was looking for reassurance, that she was going to be okay that she was doing well. Mon offered her something the daughter likely viewed as social suicide and a complete fantasy. I think Mon has probably never been able to spend the time she would like to with her daughter due to her busy schedule and there are consequences to that.

I’m so happy to find someone else with the same analysis of their relationship that I caught from the first watch

Leida is always annoyed since season 1 that she has to listen to her mother’s rules and restrictions. “Father said i had to ask you” but in season 2 you get a glimpse of her being just as bossy towards her friends, then also venting to her soon to be husband that she won’t have to live under mon’s rules anymore (during their hike). It’s extra funny that her name Leida sounds like “leader”. She is just a mini Mon and they both reflect their own mothers
