Frieren and Creature Commandos will start this week! Attack on Titan will be back after a brief break, we always want our editors well rested (THANK YOU XANDER!) Doctor Who will have a week break as well (THANK YOU NATHANAEL!)

Andor full lengths will be up every Sunday with 3 episodes at a time. It will take time to edit all 3 episodes as one edit. There is no deadline for Xander to get those done. He'll be doing movies, Peacemaker (overnight edit) and AOT still so they will be uploaded when finished. Thank you for your patience!

There will also be a movie poll this week. I'm stumped as to the theme and what to put in it! Give me your thoughts below! I'll add a comment that says "movie poll reaction ideas" just to keep the comments contained so I find them easier. Patreon is great but is still messy to navigate.

Frieren and Creature Commandos are also being done with a new editor! This could not have been possible without everyone's support here on Patreon! I try to keep quality control with the edits by having the same editors work on the same shows which is why the new editor is working on new shows and not current ones. I know AOT, Farscape and Doctor Who are popular and you want more but I want you to get the same quality with every episode so that's why we aren't "pumping them out" quicker. Different editing styles mean they could look or feel different and I don't want that for you guys. Looking forward to this month's drops and seeing what everyone thinks! Have a great week!

Rogier Oude Heuvel

Dang Angela, you do be working this month!! Were getting spoiled, just dont burn yourself out <3

Jammin

Have you ever seen shaun of the dead

Chris Collier

Let’s go!! Super excited for Frieren. It and AOT are some of my favs. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself, though. Thank you Angela :)

LatePaul

Frieren!!!! yes :)

funnylilgalreacts

thankfully I do this full time now so I have the energy to put towards more

Zander Woosley

The Hunger Games!! Please react to these if youve never seen them. Another great one would be The Maze Runner

Rogier Oude Heuvel

If this is the pace of content you should raise the price, this deserves bigger rewards for you and your team :)

DieWinterkirsche

Since it´s September, we could slowly move towards horror territory? :D

eladrin22

Gen V season 2 should be mid September, but the calendar already looks pretty full XD Also: RIP Chance.

OfficiallyGames

Perhaps some true crime biopic films. Films like Legend, Bronson, Zodiac, Catch Me If You Can etc. OR if you're willing to watch a 3 episode mini-series (avg. 50 min each) I recommend "Des" staring David Tennent and is based on the british serial killer "Dennis Nilsen" who is often reffered to as the british Jeferey Dahmer - its not gory or anything as it focuses more on the investigation and unique psychology. Not sure if you're upto watching those types but figured I'd recommend anyway.

ReversePrime141

I cannot for your Creature Commandos reaction, Angela.

KidCryptid

AH SO EXCITED FOR FRIEREN. As for movies, I think Weapons is supposed to hit VOD and streaming some time in September, so that would be exciting! A stranger pick (assuming you haven’t seen it), I LOVED Marcel the Shell with Shoes on, and even if you don’t react to it, it’s worth watching. A funny, beautiful, touching film starring the cutest shell with the cutest shoes.

DieWinterkirsche

Oh, FYI... there is a typo in "Frieren" - the I and E are switched up... ^^ Nothing too bad, but for future Schedules etc. ^^ <3

Mark K Ehlert

Not a film per se but a theme: romantic movies for those who hate romantic movies. Not sure how to build a poll from that.

Marquie Minx

@OfficallyGames Great suggestions

Mark K Ehlert

Exceeding happy to finally get Andor S2 reactions!

Ash Davis

September/Autumn is a good time for thrillers

Howie

Yes!!! Was looking forward to AoT but Frieren is a great substitute!!!

Lydia Hollowmoor

I know it's very left field and I doubt it'd get voted for by anyone other than me, but I'd love to see you react to the Powerpuff Girls movie. It doesn't get anywhere near the credit it deserves, I absolutely adore it. If you did decide to watch it, I'd recommend giving at least one of the old episodes a rewatch, just as a refresher. In particular I'd point to "Major Competition" and "Mr. Mojo's Rising" as a good pair to watch.

Marcos Olguin

Love that’s we’re getting Frieren but gonna be honest hate the AOT OVAs simply because reactors replace episode releases with them give me season 3!

Brian Leonard

Stephen King movies. Please include The Life of Chuck.

Kal Jenko

I only just recently watched Creature Commandos a month back and loved it, looking forward to your reaction

koppite23

My suggestions for movies if you haven't seen them of course... V for vendetta Edge of tomorrow Sin City (Super stoked youre watching andor too)

funnylilgalreacts

When your a reactor you have to watch everything or people will continually ask if you've seen them. It gets to be a bit much

Henkan

Just a few random suggestions from me: the Grand Budapest Hotel, the Handmaiden, and No Country for Old Men. Or maybe some sci-fi-movies, like Minority Report, or Fury Road? And, come to think of it; a movie that would definitely be up your alley: Cloud Atlas!

TalynStarburst

Honestly, I wouldn’t want a change to the slow burn on Farscape anyway.. savor it like fine wine as I do with your reactions 🙂

Paulo

Fuck yeah Frieren

Nathan Jasper

We're not worthy, we're not worthy! Thank you for being awesome and gifting us with all this content!

Nathan Jasper

As for movie theme, maybe classics like 60s movies. The Children's Hour and Charade for instance.

ASH

oh boy, frieren x2!

Melon Lord

So excited for frieren! I would recommend the sub over dub for this one, the dub isn’t bad but I much preferred the sub

funnylilgalreacts

Definitely it’s slow enough that I feel like the sub might’ve been fine, but I don’t know about later episodes

Rester

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; Nimona; Grosse Pointe Blank; Spirited Away; Howl's Moving Castle; Princess Mononoke The theme of the poll is: things I selfishly want you to react to because I, specifically, love them.

funnylilgalreacts

I might still do full length on Patreon. GenV didn’t do well for me but I did it after it initially aired

Tiny Octopus

Looking forward to Frieren. If you like that one, Violet Evergarden is just amazing, and it'd be neat to see you react to that series, and the movies.

Kraig Brown

80s/90s comedies that still hold up,: Truman Show, Nake Gun. If you by some chance haven't seen them they're great first-watch opportunities.

matthew h

Wind River is you haven't seen it.

Twisted Glass

So you decided "let's give 'em Frieren at the same time as AoT?" You spoil us, I can't wait to see what you think!

Twisted Glass

I don't know if sticking with more anime for movies is something you're interested in right now, but I think you'd love Your Name and A Silent Voice.

Ron B

I don't know if you ever saw Watchmen but they recently released the "ultimate" cut on HBO Max that's -over 3 and a half hours- with all the animated segments for a side story that was more featured in the graphic novel it's based off of.

Sam

100% agreed, MHA would be a great series to react to

Michael Cyr

I know this is bad timing, since you just started 2 new shows, but have you ever considered reacting to Wenesday?

Michael Cyr

@Rester I would be up for any of those (though I'm not familiar with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), especially Grosse Pointe Blank.

Makhiel

Okay, okay, I'll start watching Frieren, it's been on my to-watch list for a while. And yay for Andor and Creature Commandos!

Whaleuigi

EPIC: The Musical - not a typical movie format but there are plenty of compilations turning it into a movie. It's a musical retelling of the Odyssey with some creative liberties to make it work in this format. It's largely a passion project for those involved and fans have created animatics to accompany the songs so it forms a great movie experience if you watch them together. The songs will be stuck in your head forever, but it's truly marvelous!

Howie

Same! The sub VA especially Frieren are just too good.

adam green

Movie poll reaction ideas. Mr. Mom (1983) comedy

Jacob Lagasse

A little sad I gotta wait weeks for my AoT, but lol probably best for your own mental health 😅

Zephyr (AD)

Much respect and appreciate as always for the editors, and welcome to the new editor! This schedule is stacked! Looking forward to Creature Commandos and Frieren, but I hope you've got breaks scheduled for yourself as well!

Zephyr (AD)

Perhaps something "back to school" related could be fun (high school/college comedy antics?), or how are you with musicals or music theme'd movies?

R

Sorry to see you had a bad experience with the Frieren dubs. Netflix is the only service that reliably translates (most of) Frieren's on-screen text. That's unfortunate, since the on-screen text indicates passing time and location so it's not tangential. I hope you're enjoying it regardless, and that you see some new traffic from it. 🤞 * Edit: I just noticed the bit about your new anime editor! Nice. I'm guessing whoever that is has been giving you all the necessary details on anything you missed. Congrats on acquiring some much-needed extra help. ^_^

Melon Lord

I didn’t find any issues with the later episodes and I normally watch dub, it’s a very relaxed show throughout

R

Yep! The Netflix captions translate almost all of the on-screen text except episode titles. And it didn't drop on Netflix until a year-ish after it premiered, so Crunchy had a loooong time to get their act together, and just...haven't. But they've been caught using ChatGPT for subtitles, so 🤷‍♂️

R

Oh, but make sure choose English [CC] with the English audio and not regular English subs. The latter don't match the audio *and* don't translate the on-screen text.

LatePaul

90% of the captions follow the same pattern which is "XX number of years after [event], [place name]" The number is visible so once you know the pattern it's not too bad. It's not ideal but it's not terrible.

LatePaul

I seem to be the only one who likes the English VA for Frieren.

R

LatePaul, that doesn't help with text that includes locations. It's helpful to know where things are. If the easy lift of switching from Crunchy to Netflix is enough to solve the problem, it makes sense to do it. As a bonus, Netflix translates the OP/ED lyrics with that setting as well (Crunchy does not).

Sterling LaLoge

I think one of the more interesting categories for a poll would be Hidden Gems aka NON-Blockbuster movies. Or maybe classic musicals.

Gibantras

I love that you are also very transparent with the editing process and that you treat your editors like valuable members of your team

Fatalistic Viking

I've honestly tried several times and still can't get into it. I've heard people mention that it starts to pick up around episode 6. If a show is going to slowly build over several episodes, like 4, not half of part 1, I'm expecting a plot as deep and complex as Stein's gate. Sadly I've noticed that the anime that gets requested tend to be the same for ever reactor. I just pray that SAO isn't chosen unless it's the Abridged

Fatalistic Viking

Even though it's not an option for her and most people, I gave up on streaming them and just pirate everything. Not only do you get subs for signs and songs, but you get fan made subs that usually match the show. People that put this stuff together make sure that the audio/video are high quality and subs are incredibly accurate, almost word for word at times.

Fatalistic Viking

I'm one of the few that prefers dub. After watching several dubbed shows with subs from different genres I could only watch dub unless there's wasn't a dub version. I also like knowing what words, or part of a sentence the VA adds importance, emotion, or anything like that. The real question is, if you don't understand the language being spoken, would you even know if the VA is actually good or not.

EgregiousGrievous

The slow burn is what makes Frieren charming. The story is really fantastic and definitely worth a watch. I've watched Frieren about 8 times with 8 different reactors. That's how good it gets IMO.

𝖐𝖆𝖙𝖘𝖚𝖐𝖎 𝖇𝖆𝖐𝖚𝖌𝖔𝖆𝖙

@Viking God I know everyone does the same thing. It becomes burn out when every reactor does the same shows. But yeah I can't do frieren either. Like I can do slow burns, but that show was just mega boring to me. I don't need a story of a socially awkward elf going through life for hundreds of years to tell me "human life Is valuable" Apothecary Diaries's MaoMao is a much stronger female lead for me.

funnylilgalreacts

I can totally see how it wouldn’t be everyone’s flavor. I struggled the first two episodes because I thought it was fairly boring. But once I got accustomed to the pace, I think it works well for me. I do think people choose things they know I’m going to have reactions to not necessarily obscure anime that they think is cool

Linus Marjeta

"human life Is valuable" Yeah, that is not really the message Frieren is trying to give. The message is about being appreciative of the time you're spending with people, that time is fleeting for everyone no matter how short/long you live. And that people do live on in memory and still affect the world around them even after passing, they're not specks of dust, they're waves, they're still very much a part of you and shape who you are as long as you nurture that memory. I for one am glad to see an anime that doesn't need to lean on constant fight-scenes to keep things interesting without being exclusively a slice-of-life anime, but instead rely on the enormous strength it has in excellent writing, character growth and complex emotions, and then the fight-scenes are just a cherry on top. Not to mention that both the art and sound-design are top tier. It just breaks the norm in a beautiful way.

𝖐𝖆𝖙𝖘𝖚𝖐𝖎 𝖇𝖆𝖐𝖚𝖌𝖔𝖆𝖙

And I love that opinion for you. But that doesn't make my opinion invalid. I just thought this was a safe place to discuss things. I wasn't trying to argue, I was just saying it's not for me. There's plenty of more things for me to watch on this channel. I love Angela's commentary. Just this one personally isn't my thing. And that's ok, and I explained why for me, it's not. And it's no reactors fault that they end up doing the same shows, that's just bad happenstance.

funnylilgalreacts

Totally get it, and this is completely a safe place to discuss things. I don’t really have an opinion on Frieren as of today, but I could imagine fans of the series would want to defend it and maybe try to talk you into liking it.

R

Yeah Viking, my preference is fan subs as well, assuming the source is good.

Linus Marjeta

Yeah no, I wasn't trying to disuade you one way or another or make your opinion feel worth less, I was just inputting my own view on the show as I like discussing it. I'm sorry if my reply came off in a certain way.

Kyle Taggart

I love Frieren, but totally understand ppl who don't love it. I grew up playing dnd, I instantly felt connected to the show. I also love LOTR. The music, visuals, use of magic, and then the mysteries behind the main character, kept me wanting more and more. Some ppl think FMA/FMAB suck, and they're off put by the humor, where as I think it's one of the best anime of all time.

𝖐𝖆𝖙𝖘𝖚𝖐𝖎 𝖇𝖆𝖐𝖚𝖌𝖔𝖆𝖙

@Linus it's totally OK. I'm diagnosed autistic so I can come off differently as I intend and interpret things differently than ppl intend sometimes. No hard feelings. @Kyle FMA/FMAB will always be a classic for me but yeah totally get how some people are put off by some of the humor in it but the themes in it will ways make it one of the greatest of all time for me.

EgregiousGrievous

Frieren is a story about people and a character driven story. I would guess 40% action and 60% character driven. The action sequences is some of the best animated and something remarkable but I don't think the author (mangaka) or illustration artist of the manga of the story intended it to be a typical shonen action story (young boys) like one piece or naruto, chainsaw man or attack on titans. Its interesting to think about what it would be like to be almost immortal and watching those around you, sharing your life quickly disappear in your terms and move on from the world while you are there moving forward without them. That's something tragic IMO and probably something I would not want to live through.

Zachary Mullins

Love all your hard work! First three episodes of Frieren were intended to be watched together like a movie, if that gives some context for the initial pacing.

Thoko

I agree with giving your editors a break, but I feel that uncuts would not be negatively impacted by changing editors. There is no style to an uncut video

funnylilgalreacts

I also need breaks from shows as well. I definitely wouldn’t be opposed to doing uncut’s of episodes or movies before releasing an edited version. Kind of like what I’m doing with Andor. I just have to have emotional capital to spend and sometimes it’s a lot.

Thoko

Ok. That makes sense. And I totally know that the next seasons of AOT are only going to get more emotionally intense!

EgregiousGrievous

After you watch Violet Evergarden, please I recommend you watch Vinland Saga Anime. Its a master piece! It has two seasons.

Philip De Leon

You probably have a long long list of shows/movies to catch up on but... any chance Wednesday Season 2 is on that list?

funnylilgalreacts

I am definitely hoping to get to that in the next week and a half or so

Joshua R

Saving Wednesday for spooky season. ;)

Chris Franco

If you could marathon Andor before the next month ends we can cancel our Disney+ because fascism

Laia

this season of doctor who is one of my absolute favorites, so I can’t wait to see your reactions! but also I *can* wait lol because I love how detailed you are in your reactions and I wouldn’t want to rush that :)

Whiffed

Why are the attack on titan episodes so rare

funnylilgalreacts

I only trust Xander to edit them correctly. As much as I love Frieren the editing is a little less than my usual standard. AOT needs extra special attention. Not only to remove music, but to make sure that we are not getting caught with copyright. It’s a little too easy to get strikes with anime and Xander does an incredible job of making sure that never happens.

Will Fantastic 4 First Steps get reaction without a poll? Came out digital today.
