I watched this one on Hulu and I will not be continuing on Hulu. I will be switching back to Crunchyroll.

Frieren 1x2 FULL LENGTH REACTION | It didn't have to be magic...

FULL LENGTH REACTION

Yes, watching this a 2nd time is definitely more emotional for me. Haha, your intuition was slightly off! Heiter was indeed up to no good, but in a different way. 😏 The color palette for the episode blows my mind... all the red, orange, and gold of autumn. Have you ever watched Miyazaki Ghibli Studio movies (if not, you MUST)? The background art reminds me so much of them.

Yeah Crunchyroll is a bit peculiar with subtitles: they have 2 tracks, "English CC" has the dialogue but not the on-screen text, and "English" has the translated on-screen text and the songs, but not the dialogue. I wish they'd put one with everything, but you can't have both at the same time (as far as I can see). Hopefully you find the setting/website that works best for you :)

The subtitles don't show when they're suppose to when watching from Web Browser.

Fern definitely would have taken the seed rats on their journey if not for Frieren. All kids love pets.

Man, that dialogue of: Fern: I could have done anything that I could use to support myself. It didn't have to be magic. Frieren: No. But it's what you chose. That really gets me. Makes me cry on every rewatch. This show just feels very emotionally intelligent, and is very good at highlighting the simplest of life's pleasures and realizations.

10 second desync between Hulu and Crunchyroll version, timestamps match 1:1 but Hulu is behind by 10 seconds.

The intro music got me grooving😂🙌🏾😅

I think Tearful Wolf Studios was saying there was a desync between the version they were watching on Crunchyroll, and the one in the reaction (Hulu), not between the reaction and the episode embedded in the reaction :) . There were black screens in the Hulu version that were not in the Crunchyroll version (so I had to resynch periodically), maybe that's what caused the desynch mentioned here?

I twigged what Heiter was up to straight away (which is a rarity for me, i am often caught off guard by sneaky priests!). The building appears to be a keep or watch tower, probably a remnant when the demon king was about and monsters and demons were a constant danger. The colours of this show always make me feel so relaxed and i always feel a tingle when they show the build up of mana before they perform acts of magic. The feeling of this show is something i am trying to replicate in some of my D&D campaigns, especially when they are resting between adventures

Frieren is on Netflix as well in case you wanted to try that. This Anime is so sweet!

Yeah, I've run into some weirdness with Hulu (especially when using it on Chromecast). I *think* what happens is that the video has embedded spots for ads even if you have an ad free subscription, and the player blanks out for a second or two when it would play ads, or something to that effect. On Chromecast, it would also sometimes just cut out 10+ seconds of the video when it came back from "ads" and even rewinding over the now-completed "ad break" wouldn't fix it. Infuriating, honestly.

It's Yoasobi. Check them out, they're great.
