Commenting briefly before watching, regarding your opening comments about the Xenomorph: When the gang entered the dimensional space, they didn't put up a door first. Chris made a pretty big deal about that when they moved it previously. I've just been expecting since the gang ran in that we'd see the Xenomorph casually wander into "our" dimension.

So... which Vigilante do you think came back? Seems they kept it a little ambiguous at the end yeah?

I had a feeling his dad was going to be good in this universe while Keith would be the villain since that's usually how it works in the multiverse or alternate timeline stories. Augie's death in this world is kind of funny in a dark way.

I don’t know if Keith is a villain per se, he has every right to hate Chris. Him chasing after Ads is a product of his environment, I’m not sure if he’s a racist. God next week is gonna be nuts

Cleverusernamed97

That's true, but I have a feeling he's going to go full villainy if his story doesn't end next week, because I'm sure now he's going to do everything and anything to get revenge, and that could be a season by itself. He'll be justified, but I guess he'd still be an antagonist, technically speaking.

You ever just enter crisis mode after watching something and you just stare in sullen silence for a while? I did not expect Peacemaker of all things to just break my heart entirely

Sydney Happersen looked pretty close to the way he looked in the comic books. Brining him in continues James Gunn trend to bring another one of his regulars that have been in almost every project he has. I hope you are watching the Peacemaker Podcast on HBO Max, the episode 7 one has Danielle and Nhut with some great stories. The scream/cry of "stop" from Chris broke me. I am a little scared to see what next weeks episode is going to bring and what seeds it is going to lay for the DCU.

I liked this episode a lot, especially the scenes with Chris and his “family” at the end. But I would have appreciated it if they had made the reveal of the society more subtle and nuanced. The swastika on the flag was a bit over the top already; the Hitler mural and copies of Mein Kampf were just unnecessary. It implies that fascism is only recognizable if it comes with established branding and also that German Nazism is the only flavor. It is a sad truth that the nicest people can have fucked up ideologies. Emilia would have been the perfect character to just nonchalantly mention something like the labor camps to demonstrate that. And given the current state of the US it smells a bit of cowardice to explain a fascist America only with “they lost World War II”—nothing home-grown about it.

I think they did that because Chris is so accustomed to being around that stuff he’s blind to it. WE would have caught on very quickly, and we did. He was so used to having a white suprematist dad it was in his blind spot.

I just think it would have been better to show him missing people behaving like Nazis instead of cartoonishly missing the equivalent of a blinking neon sign saying “we’re Nazis.” And the show doesn’t really display much trust in its viewers either, using a very simplistic approach to explaining the world: See, these people are bad. How can you tell? They have a swastika on their flag. How did this happen? They lost a war 80 years ago. Edit: I wouldn’t even have commented on this with another show. But Peacemaker has been such a positive surprise so far that this lazy “it’s one of those Nazis won dimensions, no need to get into it further” was a bit disappointing.

I like how alt-auggie is (even if unintentional by james gunn) a critique of a cowardly type of guy who is against their government, but is afraid to enact any meaningful change out of fear of losing their very comfortable lifestyle that is affordable only by the oppression of others, compared to alt-adrian who, whom, whilst living in poorer but still comfortable means than alt-auggie, joins a radical freedom fighter group that is labeled a terrorist group just to do what is right
