Earlier this year my husband was on Wheel of Fortune. This week mentioned I'd be out of town because of a trip he won and I figured I'd post the episode so anyone who missed it or joined recently could watch it! Enjoy!

Hahaha I watched the video back yesterday, and every single one of my spins goes around exactly one full rotation, +/- a single wedge. It just worked out that the game started with me on the $2500 space!

All 3 of us were so happy for each other with the way our game went. The episodes that taped before us, no one solved the final puzzle and few contestants finished the day without a solve. The fact that all of us had $10k+ at the end of the game was unreal! It’s a fun atmosphere and everyone genuinely wanted everyone else to do really well.

Vanna’s been with the show forever. When it first started, the letter spaces had to be manually turned to be revealed. I think they became touchscreens maybe 20-ish years ago, but by that point Vanna White was an institution. Not sure what they might do whenever she chooses to retire, but people would revolt if she was taken away from the puzzle board.

I think it might be interesting (to me at least) to hear more about what it’s like being on a game show. What dud he have to do to get in? How long was the taping? What was the process of getting the money? I’m very curious.

I’m happy to go into more detail on my experience! I wrote a blog post for WOF’s website that I’ll link here, but to answer your questions: There was an online application followed by a few rounds of Zoom interviews and tryouts. We did practice rounds and introductions and that sort of thing so they could see how we might do playing the actual game. Because of my background in sports broadcasting, I had to answer a bunch of extra questions to make sure I wasn’t connected to the production and wouldn’t create a conflict of interest. The taping took all day, with a call time around 7am and the final episode being done around 5pm or so. We taped 6 episodes that day: 3 before lunch, 3 after. Mine was the third one taped. As funny as it sounds, they literally just mail out a check for the money (with CA state taxes taken out). It took about 3 months after the air date to receive the check, but they say it can take up to 4-5 months, I think. And that’s always from the air date, not the tape date. It was probably mentioned. They went over a BUNCH of the legal stuff with us before we went to the studio (so we were actually sitting in the Jeopardy! studio for that stuff). I was lucky that my episode aired about a month after filming… some people have to keep that secret for nearly a year!

I watched this from my feed just randomly thinking it's a Wheel of Fortune episode that Angie randomly posted and then she shows up on it near the end outta nowhere xD I was like, "wait what's happening?!" Haha! Grats!! That's such a life marking moment, you can say that you were in an episode of Wheel of Fortune! Such an iconic show.

Can I just say how awesome it was at about 13:50 when Akeya solves the puzzle and Drew just immediately gets this big smile and tells her "Goob job!". Winning is nice. But sportsmanship like that speaks to his character. He's clearly as handsome on the inside as he is on the outside.

When he was being interviewed they asked what he liked to do for fun and he said travel and explore. They told him that day ‘oh you’re going to be on NatGeo week!’
