Aliens (Special Edition) FULL LENGTH Movie Reaction

FULL LENGTH REACTION

Michael French

I won’t spoil things, but the next two films in the alien franchise really aren’t that good (some might say the next four but I definitely don’t agree with that) and that’s coming from someone who also recently watched them for the first time.

Aaron Duenas

Rest In Peace Bill Paxton, the only actor to have been killed by an Alien, a Predator, and a Terminator

Nathan Jasper

There's actually a video game called Alien Isolation that takes place between 1 and 2. Great scares. Glitches don't happen often but when they do happen they are hilarious lol I like the level of corp secrecy we see and it's so subtle too. The lady on the council said there'd never been anything like the Xenomorph recorded before. If that's true, why was Ash programmed with the directive to find one? Granted that was 57 years ago but still

Nathan Jasper

The prequels are awesome and I actually enjoyed 4. Alien 3's the only one that angered me

Nathanael Fuller (Polygon Wizard)

Alien 3 is still worth watching, especially the Assembly Cut version. I think it gets more hate than it deserves due to the first two movies being classics and the troubled production of Alien 3. I think Alien 3 has one of the most iconic moments and shots of the entire franchise, but I can't say anything more about it due to spoilers. I think Alien Resurrection AKA Alien 4 is pretty fun, but easily the worst of the original releases. Still well worth watching though.

Frank (MetronV) Izzy

So I haven't watched this reaction yet, but I absolutely will be. I just wanted to say that I'm so excited for this. Me and my friends saw this movie 8 times at the theater when it first came out at the Mann Theater at the Puente Hills Mall. We were obsessed with this movie. Back then matinee's were only around $5. And it wasn't until later that I saw the "special" version of Aliens, which I wish they would have released to theaters initially.

ButtercupsTrueLove

"Yeah, man, but it's a dry heat!" It makes a difference. Compare summer weather in Orlando, Florida, with Palm Springs, CA.

Vexkun

Yeah in Orlando. Give me dry heat please!

Saga Mackenzie

My opinions on the remaining movies: I don't think i'm being too spoilery with anything here but feel free to skip if not sure! Alien: Earth. I'd say now that you've seen the first two movies you'd be pretty safe to watch this show regardless of any of the other ones, as it takes place a little before the first Alien movie, and they just confirmed a second season coming. As far as the movies are concerned: I'd say there's merit in watching Alien 3, it's not a BAD film by any means, it's just...a very cynical one that makes some extremely unpopular choices, to put it as non-spoilery as I can. I feel like you can definitely skip 4. Or at least, watch it with the understanding that it's barely considered canon with the rest of the series anyway. Prometheus and Covenant I think are definitely watchable as a pair, but you can almost consider them both a two movie 'side story' to the main series. Romulus is actually REALLY good I think, personally, does quite a good job of pulling a lot of loose threads from previous movies together, AND does a far better job of recreating a plot point that Alien 4 absolutely failed to do convincingly, In My Opinion.

Vathantu

While 3 and 4 are not as good as the first two, I still love them and they are an entertaining continuation of the franchise. Alien Isolation is also a great side story that follows the style and feel of the first two movies wonderfully.

Cei Stockport

Trying to go back for Apone and Dietrich would have been suicidal because the hive was still full of drones. Between the fighting in the hive, the slaughter the sentry guns did and the fighting back to the dropship, the number of drones left was in single digits so it wasn't completely suicidal.

funnylilgalreacts

I’ve been seeing Natalie Gold and Nicki from Nicki and Steven playing it on their channels

Joel Palenychka

The special edition mostly adds in the back story of her daughter and the automatic guns. Both of which I feel are actually pretty significant to the movie and should not have been removed for the theatrical release.

TGrimace

My favorite Aliens story from the cast is from Paul Reiser. He took his mother to the premiere, and when it came to the part where he was killed, his mother stood up and cheered (along with the rest of the crowd). Hahaha. When you said "Oh! Paul Reiser is in this. I really hope he doesn't get killed", me and everyone who's seen Aliens all laughed and said "Yeah. Say that again in a hour" :D The theatrical version is an amazing, AMAZING movie. The special edition is definitely an improvement on it. The main difference between special and theatrical versions is that they cut out everything about Ripley having a daughter in the theatrical version. It's still really good, but Newt has even more power with that backstory of Ripley

John

Prime has the special edition UHD on sale for $4.99 to purchase.

dys

This and the first one being equally good is pretty much the consensus opinion, and IMO they're the only truly essential entries in the franchise. I had high hopes for Alien: Earth because Noah Hawley has made some incredible TV, but didn't end up liking it much.

Michael Hill

Michael Biehn played Reese John Conner father in Terminator

Chet Brusk

I found a good movie lurking within Alien3. I found good actors trying hard in Alien: Resurrection. Every trailer after that felt like a pitch for an exciting brand opportunity with great synergy and tremendous upside potential for minimal investment and I just haven't been in the market.

Skipp

Lance Henriken gets special mention in this category as well.

Skipp

I say they are all worth watching. Quality is subjective but I certainly believe they are all fun watches. Alien vs Predator as well.

John

The girl who played Newt did an amazing job. Great bit of acting for a girl who was probably cast based on her ability to scream. I LOL"ed at the xeno-clown-spider.

Skipp

Loved the reaction. Aliens is one of the greats of action/horror and among a few sequels that are considered better than the original. Not sure how far into this journey you want to tread and many people may say to skip 3 or 4 or whatever. But considering how you enjoy films I think you would probably enjoy them as they all have their merits. Even the much maligned Alien vs Predator films can be fun to watch.

John

The next Alien film wasn't up to the same quality as the previous two, but you might still enjoy it.

Chet Brusk

Actually, I'd forgotten I saw Prometheus. It felt like it should have been an amusement park ride. A dark ride with excellent theming, excitement, a cool riff on the IP, but when it's over you're supposed to get out and forget everything.

Patrick Waldeck

I think 3 has is a bad movie that still has some charm and gets too much hate. 4 is complete dogshit.

Joshua R

Do not watch Alien 3. Just pretend it doesn't exist. You have been warned lol.

Nowhere Man

Two aliens? Huh. I think all of the characters in this movie would've been hugely relieved to discover that there's only TWO xenomorphs. Whew! Take several deep breaths at the beginning. You'll need it. I understand perfectly well that the roles that actors and actresses play are almost never connected to each other, but I have to say... Reiser's character in Stranger Things completely redeems Reiser's character in Aliens. If you're serious about reacting to the entire franchise, you should absolutely react to the next (3rd) movie. Ignore the haters. Despite the fact that the writers made some very questionable (and highly controversial) choices, it's not a poorly-made movie at all, and it completely respects the worldbuilding of the first two movies. What it doesn't do is pander to your emotions. You will not feel good about the characters or yourself or the Universe after watching Alien 3. Sorry. So, on the other hand, if your primary goal is maximizing warm fuzzy feelings, then you should stop here and (re)watch Princess Bride and Forest Gump instead, and keep telling yourself that real monsters don't exist.

Brian

“I don’t know if my stomach was gonna come out my throat or my ass in that second right there. Jesus Christ.” Angela “FunnyLittleGal” November 2025 Now that’s a perfect quote for a poster if I ever heard one.

Nathaniel Castle

I am going to buck the trend and say you should absolutely watch Alien3. It’s an excellent film, when I was younger I had my issues with it but watching it now definitely shows it as a well put together movie. Like you I was very suspicious of Bishop throughout but I like that, and showed the worst of them was the corporate human

Bruce Steve

The theatrical version also cut out Ripley’s story of having a daughter. It really helped explain how she was so good with Newt.

Jon Biavati

Two of my favorite bits of trivia (stolen directly from imdb): When filming the scene with Newt in the duct, Carrie Henn kept deliberately blowing her scene so she could slide down the vent, which she later called a slide three stories tall. James Cameron finally dissuaded her by saying that if she completed the shot, she could play on it as much as she wanted. She did, and he kept his promise. Bill Paxton continuously apologized to Carrie Henn throughout filming every time Hudson had to swear in front of her. Henn later admitted that she didn't mind, mainly because she really didn't know what any of the words meant. Years later, during cast reunions, Henn had grown up so much that Paxton didn't recognize her at first.

Cody Sinclair

When it comes to watching the other movies, I will say Alien 3 made some choices I don't think you'll enjoy, Alien Resurrection is... interesting in a way, Prometheus and Covenant you might enjoy, but Romulus is really good and they're making a sequel. Also Alien: Earth you could watch without watching any more of the movies.

Frank (MetronV) Izzy

~edited~ I enjoyed 3. I didn't like how they handled some things, but overall I did enjoy 3. 4...had moments, but I think it was absolutely miscast for a number of roles. All of the actors I have enjoyed in other roles, but it just seemed, to me, that the writers and producers didn't handle the movie with as much seriousness as was necessary for this type of movie. There was just too much that I personally felt was just plain goofiness. I don't think it was complete dogshit. But it did smell like someone stepped in it and forgot to clean up.

Frank (MetronV) Izzy

It's a very mid 80's movie with all the hyped up bravado, for sure. :) One interesting point - in an early scene, at the inquiry where the company was showing bios of the deceased Nostromo's crew, Joan Lambert's bio reads as such: ----------------- REMARKS: Subject is Despin Convert at birth (male to female). So far no indication of suppressed trauma related to gender alteration. Subject's I.Q. at level 4.6 GMA personality at 4.2. Indicates that subject's social counts are too low for large crew, up mode status, and has been routinely assigned small crew cyrosleep mode duties which been performed adequately. Slight hyperactivity and nervousness diagnosed and Loxy-Clav M (oral ingestion) has been successful as self-administered treatment. Moderate intelligence and performance abilities did not substantially increase after security patrol navigation duties and subject was therefore re-assigned long range cyrosleep duties on cargo transports and tugs. Current assessment indicates subject should not be upgraded until after extensive full range DOQ testing and Frakes-Stephen orientation is applied. Above was never acted upon due to employment discontinuity ... -----------------

High humidity reduces the effectiveness of sweating at cooling you, while low humidity maximizes it. So if you're someone who sweats heavily, a dry heat will be much more tolerable. If you're someone who doesn't sweat very much, humidity doesn't make much difference and the higher absolute temperatures common in "dry heat" climates will be worse.

Special Edition I believe has some extra scenes that weren't in the original, its more like an extended Directors Cut. I look forward to seeing reaction to Alien 3. There is also Alien Versus Predator, which is pretty much a crossover movie, but if you haven't seen Predator, you probably should watch those before watching AVP.

Frank (MetronV) Izzy

In also fairly certain that Paul Reiser’s role as Burke was why his character in Stranger Things was initially suspect & mistrusted. 😁

Tiny Octopus

Raise your hand if you think Angela should play Alien: Isolation. I'd pay (even more) money for that live stream. :D

BubblyRainbows

For me, this movie is the best sequel ever made. There are some other good sequels out there (like "Terminator 2,") but this one takes the taco. If you watch Alien Cubed, try to watch "The Assembly Cut." The third movie has its problems, but it gets more hate than it deserves. The "Assembly Cut" fixes a LOT of the plot holes and weak parts, and the extra time is well worth it. Edit: These are just my opinion, but "Alien 3 - Assembly Cut" is definitely worth watching. "Alien: Resurrection" is kind of mid. I personally like "AvP" AND "AvP: Requiem" (Though a lot of people hate Requiem, so watch at your own risk.) And "Alien: Romulus" was pretty awesome.
