I don’t know why it won’t let me paste the link in the post, if the embedded link doesn’t work just click the Youtube symbol and it should take you to Youtube instead

Patrick Waldeck

Nydus, the pirate captain whose treasure they were plundering, was a friend and party member of Zerxus, the devil guy who Pike played cards against in Vox Machina. The Brass Ring was a pre-Calamity group of extremely powerful men and women whose story was explored in an outstanding critical role mini-series game a few years ago, and I LOVE that they are sprinkling in some of that lore in both shows.

Lou Wilson is the creator of Nydas as a character. It was his player character in Critical Role's Exandria Unlimited: Calamity.

Vanessa Aves

I love that they kept the Gentlemen... moist. I loved Sam's continuous jokes about handing him a towel.

funnylilgalreacts

I didn’t get why she kept mentioning that but now it makes sense 👀

Nathaniel Castle

Lol I feel like one of Gilmores ancestors was a pirate!

funnylilgalreacts

I was thinking about Gilmore the entire time, but I could not recall his name!

Vanessa Aves

I imagine sweat is tricky to animate without it looking weird.

Vanessa Aves

The Gentleman is a water Genasi, which is why he is always a little damp.

Nathanael Fuller (Polygon Wizard)

If I remember correctly, there was something in their Amazon deal announcement forever ago about movies, so I wouldn't be surprised to find out they've been working on one. They have to know that we would love to see a Calamity movie or miniseries.

Nathaniel Castle

I feel like Gilmores Glorious Goods will always be in my mind! I love dropping an iteration of him in so many of my D&D games (every hero needs to meet a trader with a pure Broadway personality!)

Matt Dawson

Lou Wilson is a regular on Dropout.tv content(Dimension 20, Make Some Noise, Game Changer, etc.) as well as the on-air announcer for Jimmy Kimmel Live. As a couple other people have already mentioned, Nydas Okiro is the second member of the Ring of Brass(the name of the group featured in Critical Role's EXU:Calamity series) we've seen in animation, following Luis Carazo's Zerxus Ilerez in season 3 of Vox Machina. If you're at all interested in actual plays, I cannot recommend Calamity enough. In my opinion, it might be the best thing Critical Role has ever done, and while each episode is 4-6 hours long, at just 4 total episodes, it's much more manageable than any of Critical Role's full campaigns. Loving The Mighty Nein so far and your reactions!

Patrick Waldeck

I really like how different they are making Grog and Yasha. Grog is extremely expressive when he fights, lots of big swings and battle cries. Yasha is like the Terminator. Just a killing machine that can't be stopped.

funnylilgalreacts

I actually love Lou! I just don’t recognize it unless Sam Reich is saying his name 😂

Goodpath

I loved the giant constructs and the animation. I like the developing relationship between Beau and Caleb. I want more than 8 episodes!!! I'm all ready eager for more, and we still have 2 more to go! lol!

Nathanael Fuller (Polygon Wizard)

This is my favorite episode of the show so far. We finally get some more Yasha, and it was gloriously bloody. We get to meet the Gentleman and he is voiced by Nathan Fillion! The group is starting to gel just a little bit more and there were so many tiny character moments in this episode that I loved. We got a cameo from Lou Wilson as his character, Nydas, from the Calamity miniseries. We got a short but fun dungeon run, complete with traps, magical items, and magical sentries. So much to love!

Andres Lozano

I agree it also looks like Yasha has some genuine technique in fighting as well she isn’t ultra brutal or aggro even though she’ still brutal.

"I have been missing Ashley something fierce." So they gave us Ashley something fierce. :D

Jonathan

Caleb didn't see Astrid. The reason why Caleb is so concerned about getting another amulet is because of this. They can use a spell known as scrying, which lets them see a target wherever they are. It's like her consciousness is transported to where the target is. But different than Pike in season 1 of Vox Machina, who was able to astral project herself so that her spirit was physically tangible and visible. There are magics that can tell you if you're being scryed on, and ways to prevent it (like the amulet). But for the most part, you would never know.

Moricant

I was quite surprised that Nathan Fillion played The Gentleman as, respectfully, I had assumed he would be voicing a different character that we haven’t met yet. I’m expecting to see them next week though now that the M9 have some money to burn.

Amber A

Yeah, it was so fun seeing the Taxmen brought to screen, they're just as intimidating and huge as I hoped they'd be! I hope Amazon gives them 6 seasons and a movie
