Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery FULL LENGTH Movie Reaction

FULL LENGTH REACTION

Nice! I've been waiting for folks to start releasing reactions for this movie. I just put out a podcast episode about it, too.

Knives Out, Dead Man, Glass Onion - would be my ranking. Love them all, enjoy them all, but I appreciated the complete 180 from silly humor into deep themes and a darker tone for this one.

I woke up to this... wait a second. I sure hope that Catholic Chronicle wasn't the one that was on Wicks' end table that night... I wonder if that iPad is the one he "won" in Glass Onion. Using Jesus to smash Jesus feels like some sort of metaphor. I like the way the lighting was used, especially between Blanc and Father Jud. On this rewatch, I have noticed way more clues that help point some things that narrow down the suspects. This ended up being more rewatchable than I thought, though I would say I am more entertained by the 1st two, but all 3 are winners in my book. I am hoping for more in the future.

I loved your reaction, like I always do. I can't wait to watch it again as I am sure there are clues hidden in plain sight just like in Knives Out & Glass Onion. You seemed a little tired as there were several yawns, are you getting enough sleep?

Nathan Jasper

the iPad was confirmed to be the one he won, yes :)

Rime Pendragon

ok, this was my favourite Benoit Blanc movie, miles better than Glass Onion. Loved the way it handled religion and Josh O'Connor was great.

I had many of the same feelings after watching the film the first time, but, after watching it a couple more times as reactions, I'm liking it more. I still agree there's not enough Benoit. It's probably still my least favorite of the three(just behind Glass Onion), but I think some of the scenes in WUDM are right up there with Knives Out. As a side note, I got to see this in a theater and I'm annoyed with myself because I saw the wolf head on Wick's vestments when he was preaching and thought it odd, and then completely forgot about it until the reveal. D'oh. And I know it won't happen, but I think Glenn Close deserves some Oscar consideration for Best Supporting Actress. Being able to convincingly pull off menacing, banal, sympathetic, and comic relief all in the same role is no small feat.

Daniel Craig has done a wonderful job as Benoit Blanc and the use of lighting was really good as well. A really fun murder mystery, a solid 7/10 of a film. As always a great reaction as well thanks for a fun sunday!

Subtle bit of geek humor: During the meeting where Wicks reveals he's Cy's father and that he's going to be leaving, Lee (Andrew Scott) says, "You have my sword" and there's enough of a pause to mentally fill in "You have my bow" right as they cut to Nat (Jeremy Renner, aka Hawkeye, the "bow guy").

Michael G. Munz

I thought I was the only one who noticed that! :D
