Ben

You've seen Claire skinner before - she played the dentist that Roy took Phoebe to in the Christmas episode of Ted Lasso.

Merkavar

1am, 2026, time for some dinner and doctor who i think

Hayat

Oddly enough, as much as Ive watched the series, I never actually watched this special. The King makes me think of The Green Knight in it's design.

Merkavar

hopefully the episodes stop having that amy intro that messes up the sync for different versions

funnylilgalreacts

I didn’t even notice this one didn’t have that. Fingers crossed 7got rid of them

Ben

You'll be please to know that it was just S6 that had that weird Amy intro, so us UK folk no longer need to mess around re-syncing!

Hayat

Also just wanted to add after hearing your wrap up, your husband: What a badass. That gift. Taking notes here.

James Fleischman

Lily Arwell: What's happening? The Doctor: No idea. Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it's a plan.

Nathan Jasper

Not going to say which but there is a Christmas special in Capaldi's era that ranks as one of my top favorite specials, probably in my top 3. Voyage of the Damned and A Christmas Carol are my other two all-timers, with this one probably 4th.

Alkaris

I would probably rank this episode in a top 10 episodes. With Season 7 having a Christmas episode in the middle of the season is a bit strange, but it was all down to timing for filming, because their schedule was way off with long breaks in between seasons.

Cleverusernamed97

Not my favorite Christmas episode but The Doctor's happy tears always make me smile. I'm not quite sure if I'm emotionally ready for the next season.

Paul Mix

Dang, my copy (from the OG Series 7 BluRay) looks to be completely out of sync for some reason. I swear, Doctor Who has the most inconsistent variety of encodings and edits; every service and release seems to slightly vary things.

Nathaniel Castle

The Doctor gets to have his first xmas with the inlaws!

Nathaniel Castle

A Christmas Carol is probably my favourite christmas special, I just get pure joy watching it, but this is a really good one!

Paul Mix

For those with a BluRay copy that has a framerate of 23.976, re-conforming to 25.0 fps syncs up with the copy in the reaction.

Martin

I think last one pips this one but this one is still really good, very emotional and some really good lines about being alone or family at Christmas, and the scene at the end with the Ponds is everything, it's so good.

Ejigantor

I absolutely love this episode. Pretty much everything about it. The sentiment hits me just right, and oh that happy ending. Also, "The Mothership!" - I laugh every time. I read The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe at a very impressionable age, so the references make me happy. And I quite like that the paralleling in the title casts The Doctor as Aslan. This is my favourite Christmas Special of those we have seen so far, and of those to come there's only one that I like more than this one.

Riku Kurosaki

Make sure you react to Pond Life before starting series 7. It's only a little over 5 mins and its on YouTube legally through the BBC

dean worrall

thank you so much for this.. I didn't know this ( or most of the shorts for that matter ) existed.. it fills in what felt like a huge gap between the christmas special and the first episode of the new season..

John

The Doctor getting his own Christmas miracle is the best twist ever. How long has it been since the Doctor was genuinely, completely happy? No matter what came before or comes after, he has that moment. He got to spend Christmas WITH HIS FAMILY!

John

This is my favorite Christmas episode so far.

Carl Wilson

Madge (Claire Skinner) was so terrific in this, and anytime the Doctor accepts his companions' love and sticks around instead of running off is special to me. The Ponds probably get that out of him better than anyone, perhaps because of the family circle they form with him and River, but also I think by Rory and Amy's natures.

Death Lego

I do like this episode for the emotional family stuff. If one was to participate in a fun bit of harmless nitpicking. I think if they hadn't included Lily and Cyril on screen in the first part of the episode. It would be easier to except the fact that they haven't visually aged in three years. I love suspending disbelief for sci-fi. This bugs me every time I watch it. 😆

Matthew Case

This is usually ranked as my least favorite Xmas special, as I love action, explosions and chase sequences (Think Voyage of the Damned or The Runaway Bride). When I was younger I found this really boring but after this watch along, I can appreciate it more for what it represents, even though it doesn't rank highly in explosions and action. I now like it for what it is.

John B

You might want to front load the therapy fund and bulk buy tissues. The next season is going to be quite the journey!!

Paulo

Damn this show, why does it always makes me cry.

Rach

Moffatt Christmas Specials are always magical. The man is unable to not be completely possessed with Christmas Spirit.

Ben “Bentendo” Dawson

The one Doctor who could spend a whole Christmas Special with children as companions. So magical, his whole run is magical. Moffat, Matt and Christmas. The perfect Christmas combo. 🎄 I like to think the reason the Doctor can be “humany wumany” is because the 1996 movie (30 years this year! Was my introduction to this show, with Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor) insinuates the Doctor is half-human on his mother’s side. But it’s a piece of the canon that 2005 onwards Who likes to pretend wasn’t said sadly. To me it makes a lot of sense, and his love of Earth and humanity. Ah well! One day perhaps… As for my favourite Christmas episode, it is yet to come…

Drew Motl

This is my personal favorite christmas episode. I loved Narnia growing up. This episode feels like a cherry on top.
