One of my favorite episodes.

GREGORY BREWER

A reminder that Caroline was NOT the same person John was going to propose to in the Delvian episode in season 2(?). She was a different woman (played by a different actress) Presumably that person did go to Stanford and Caroline came afterward, maybe a casual rebound to get over the woman going to Stanford. Note Caroline does not characterize their relaionship as very serious, just "good times". Evidently not proposal-worthy.

WinterScape

The 911 comment was definitely a product of the time. I may not remember correctly, but believe some of the cast and crew were in the New York area for a con (?) when the attack occurred and were profoundly effected—as we all were. Even so, I didn't like that conversation. Seemed kind of hollow. interesting hearing John call his dad Jack on Moya. I suspect he had not ever addressed him as Jack before meeting the Ancient.

WinterScape

Aeryn is really having trouble handling her emotions. She is trying everything she can to reunite with John—but it’s still not working! Poor woman.

Karasbroken

I think it's interesting that you perceived Aeryn as unemotional. I've obviously watched this show too many times but Aeryn was just holding on by a thread the whole time. But what she is, is repressed. Remember way back to The Locket when her granddaughter said that Aeryn was never sad like Crichton about being trapped on the favored planet. Aeryn said "maybe I just hide it better." She represses and represses and represses but she can't quite actually be emotionless, can't excise her emotions, only endure and try not to act on them. She has no idea how to be in a relationship, no expectation of monogamous pair bonding, no experience dealing with jealousy and desire with anything but pretending it doesn't exist. She's so strong. So scared and confused. But absolutely filled with emotion. Ugh, I love this episode. Probably my third favorite, second is yet to come.

James Miller

Rigel loves cop porn. Bet you never thought you'd hear that sentence.

It’s not so much that I think she’s unemotional is that she’s good at keeping it from controlling her. Which I think a lot of of us wish we could do. She’s just not irrationally emotional which sometimes John can be. As well as Dargo and Chianna.

funnylilgalreacts

Yeah, I didn’t wanna say it in the reaction but for Jack to say at 911 is why we can’t share any of the information we’re getting from the aliens as an excuse for racism. I don’t want any terrorist to be able to use weapons against us, but 911 targets are very specific minority as bad. It’s kind of uncomfy.

funnylilgalreacts

I guess this makes it even worse that she just shows up to the house and starts making out with him immediately.

George Ray

They did DK dirty in this episode. #justicefordk

Dave Thomas

Remember in "Different Destinations" - Harvey knew that if events are matched close enough to course...the outcome would eventually be the same.

WinterScape

I consider one of the remaining (!) episodes filler, but the intensity doesn’t let up. Regarding Farscape and RL—did you ever imagine the characters (puppets and spaceships!) and SciFi story lines would be so relatable to our own lives and emotions. What a gift this TV show was ❤️🤔💔😂😳❤️

Notes from a Farscape fan: 1) A couple of notes of the concept of monstrosity. In science fiction shows and films, particularly of the space opera variety, monstrosity is often used as a quick and easy signpost for villains and, well, monsters. Your Gorns from Star Trek, your Hutts from Star Wars, your Sontarans from Doctor Who, or your Scarrans from Farscape. They are usually particularly inhuman and often masculine presenting, because their purpose is to provide an enemy that your audience won't empathise with or care for. Contrast that to your Vulcans, your Twileks, your Time Lords, or your Sebaceans: often human-looking, and female antagonists of these species often switch to the good side. Farscape usually turns classic tropes on their heads by viewing them through a logical lens, but did fall into the old monstrosity trap for a while with the Scarrans. We don't want either the Peacekeepers or the Scarrans to have wormhole tech, but let's be honest, we're more worried about the Scarrans. In this episode, Farscape flips the trope in two starkly different ways. We have two monsters: the Skreeth who is a traditional sci-fi monster alien, and we have Grayza. 2) With a traditional monster alien, sharp teeth, scary eyes, claws, and scales, we default to the assumption of masculinity - the Gorn, Jabba, the entire Sontaran race, the bulk of the Scarrans we see. The Skreeth, however, is female. This might seem inconsequential, but when you consider the linguistic concept of 'male-as-norm' - how actor is the standard, and actress the modified; how game instructions always used to refer to the player with masculine pronouns as a standard; the use of 'man' as a synonym with 'human' - the active choice to have your monster be inconsequentially female is nonetheless notable. When a sci-fi writer puts a monster in their story, they usually default to male. The fact that she is female bares no relevance to the story, and does not make her 'sexy' as many science fiction stories tend to do with their gendered aliens. She's just a horrifying lady. 3) And speaking of horrifying ladies, we have Grayza. Conventionally attractive with sex powers, and yet through her we finally have someone we fear and dread as much as the Scarrans. The Scarrans may appear monstrous outwardly, but Grayza more than matches them in act and intent. When science fiction shows present a monster, it is to make you immediately fear, despise, and lose empathy for them. In Grayza, Farscape has managed this same response despite her decidedly unmonstrous outward appearance - and because of her repeated appearances and relevance to the plot, in contrast with the Scarrans simply being a general threat, Grayza is now THE monstrosity of the show.

Jeeenyus

I understand what your saying about Grayza, But she is under a ton of pressure to keep the Scarrans from invading, that would be worse than her ... less than ideal methods.

Darren Withers

Just a quick note before watching, despite being based in Florida, Terra Firma was filmed entirely in Sydney, Australia. The IASA headquarters was filmed at Sydney Olympic Park in Homebush (where the 2000 Olympics were based), and the Crichton home was in Abbotsford on the Parramatta river. 🇦🇺

john

I’ll never forgive them for what they did to DK. My only gripe about this episode.
