The creature effects in this episode were apparently mostly practical, which is absolutely insane to me in the age of CGI. They built a full-scale walkable animatronic puppet for episode 4's BIG BOI and it looks fantastic. "Deathclaws are the result of native american spirit powers" is the most ridiculous and out of pocket theory I've ever heard and I love it.

Yeah, the scene with Charlie talking about the 3 people he killed to save someone is unrelated to the Alaska scene. The Deathclaws are very much known in the games, and known to have originated before the war. So don't worry about missing context, looks like theyre going into depth fully.

Deathclaws were created by the US pre-war/bombs, they are mutated/experimented reptiles (primarily Jackson Chameleons), they survived the bombs and reproduced (they lay eggs). Early/Original Deathclaws were known to be intelligent/trainable so its possible thats why the one we saw in alaska let cooper live, knowing/sensing he was on the US side. The matriarchal/mother deathclaws are usually the scariest and seemingly the one that Lucy and The Ghoul are now facing.

During rising tensions of war and limited resources, US annexed Canada, taking over their territory and making Canadians 'second-class citizens', so I wouldn't be surpised if Steph is looking for revenge as her family and friends were likely killed.

oh yes there are crabs......ugh!

The brotherhood of steel is a xenophobic, pseudo religious, technophobic/worshiping group which loves to exterminate all mutants including ghouls, super mutants, people conveniently called mutants but probably just dirty, raiders, people claiming to be smarter than them (most people), and the various monstrosities of the wastelands. The BOS are NOT nor ever have been the good guys if anyone in this universe could be called so. War never changes....then again compared to the Enclave.

For context Canada was annexed by the United States shortly before the great war of 2077

It is Dogmeat. The dog's name is Dogmeat. Just like Deadpool's dog is called Dogpool :D

Betty and Stephanie where roughly the same age when they were frozen and now Betty suddenly is 40 years older than Stephanie who looks more or less the same as then. But it seems they didn't get along very well before the war either. I wonder why it is important that Stefanie has an ID as pending Canadian? Why pending? On top of the ID you could read: "United States annexed territory". Are they foreshadowing real life future? Canada annexed by the U.S.? 🤔😅🙈 I wonder what Stephanies position was and why she wants access to Hanks keepsakes. Hank and Betty were executive assistant and secretary to Barb. Maybe Steph wanted a position like that or she was Barbs third assistant or something? Hence the comment about the "different solutions" as to how to survive? Maybe she worked for Hank and thus for Robert House somehow? Oh I hate Lucy on drugs so much. I mean it is funny to watch, simply because Ella Purnell has excellent comedic abilities and timing, but I don't want to lose "our" Lucy, she is my emotional ancore in this show...🙈 But yes, this is what Buffout does to you in the game (Fallout 4). The more we see the MacLean siblings in the real world, the more and more absurd the vault life looks like. Woody is so overly naive that it hurts to see him interact with Steph. It was funny though to see that he also messes up the directions in his new home. These poor naive vaulties are so lost...😅🙈 I really hope Chet finally discoveres his courage and listens to the wake up call of finding Stephs ID and what Woody witnessed. All in all the vault life feels like the last days in the "Führer-Bunker" - It is all madness and anarchy because everybody feels they're doomed. If Betty and her people want to survive, they will have to leave their vault. Norms leadership is threatened for the first time. I have the feeling this guy will not be calmed down as easily as in the vault. He suspects Norm isn't who he pretends to be. I may read too much into it at this point, but was there a little moment between Norm and Claudia? Right before the other guy butted in? Maximus not shooting Quintus makes sense, I mean he grew up with him and looked at him as a kind of second father. And he described his character pretty accurate: "All these things aren't planned - they just happen to me!" 😄 It speaks for the dimness of this brotherhood chapter, that they leave their most prized posession completely ungarded, so Dane could simply walk away with it. Thaddeus and Max have a really funny dynamic, but what will happen to Thaddeus' children now? Oh yes, Deathclaws are definitely a huge thing in the games and that is quite a beautiful specimen, I must say...😁 It feels a bit like the thumbs-up-thing - If the ghoul looks shocked, run for the hills. If the ghoul starts to freak out, don't bother running... 😅

Ending up addicted to the drugs in the game can be a real pain. When you're on the drugs, you can do amazing things. You're a killing machine, can run forever, can jump higher. All that stuff. But if you become addicted and end up in withdrawl, it can really screw up your character.

Nerf Or Nothing

What the Ghoul was expecting to see as Vegas was a bustling civilisation with lights on with people going to and through the strip heading for casinos and prostitution. The destroyed bots were securitrons that House made and used to enforce the law on the strip. They are the Mk2 upgrade recipients who's existence are tied to certain actions in the game. Freeside which was mentioned was an external slum that poor people would go. (usually after losing everything on the strip)

Nerf Or Nothing

And Canada and Mexico where annexed before the great war during the Alaska campaign.

A gang took over a building that was an Elvis impersonator school, which after going through the displays and watching the videos, they decided to adopt his image with the outfits from Jailhouse Rocks mostly. Buffout in Fallout is like super steroids and it was funny to see Lucy riding that high. I hope they find an easier way to get her through the addiction. Deathclaws are no joke. I won't go into the details as plenty of people have already explained their origins. Now I am waiting for the other potentially scary animal threat of the New Vegas Wasteland to appear.
