Can't wait to watch this reaction as I eat the lasagna I just cooked

I love the part where Jud, faced with potential prosecution, still took hours to counsel and pray with the woman.

I loved Daniel Craig's suit in this film!

I agree that this is the weakest of the three films, and part of the problem is the lack of real depth or examination to the wider cast. But it's still Not A Bad Movie, and an entertaining time. I figured out the mystery IMMEDIATELY, because it's actually not that hard if you have a knowledge of detective fiction. I haven't read any of the books that were listed for the book club, but the method "Incapacitate somebody one way, then stab them as you investigate/offer help" shows up so often that I've seen it elsewhere. ** So as SOON as people started talking about "impossible crime" I knew that Dr. Nat was probably the one who stabbed him, and once we learned about the flask the entire "Drug the flask, then stab him on the ground" method was obvious to me. That took the wind out of much of the movie. There's still a lot to enjoy here. Everybody gives great performances, I like the alternating perspectives on religion we get with Benoit and Jud, and they do some great tricks with lightning and editing. But it didn't have IT that the first two films had for me. ** Off the top my head, the two instances I thought of as I watched the movie were the episode of "Monk" 'Mr. Monk Goes to the Theater', and the Agatha Christie short story "The Idol House of Astarte". In "Monk", an actor dies on-stage while performing a play and is determined to have been stabbed with a real knife instead of a prop knife. The truth is that the apple he ate earlier in the scene was poisoned, and after he collapsed the "doctor" who rushed on-stage to help was an accomplice and stabbed him while he was lying prone. In "The Idol..." a man is killed by apparently supernatural means during a costume party when the host invites them all to visit a supposedly-haunted grove, and he collapses with a stab wound with no knives or swords anywhere around. The truth is that the guy just tripped over a tree root, and while he was on the ground another party-goer stabbed him with the sword he was carrying as part of his costume and nobody bothered to check it to see if it was used.

While I’m sure it wan’t intentional, when I watched Nerdy Nightly’s reaction to “Wake Up Dead Man”, Claroos made a mistake when she was trying to recount the story of “Glass Onion” that made me realise something. In Knives out, the killer and mastermind turned out to be Captain America (he only masterminded Harlan’s death but actually killed Fran). In Glass Onion, it was Hulk that did the deed, and one of his victims was none other than Drax. Here, Thanos and Sandman’s killer turned out to be none other than Hawkeye, though the mastermind and his ultimate killer was none other than Nova Prime herself! Cap, Hulk and Hawkeye. If there is ever a 4th Knives out movie and Ironman or Black Widow are involved (or even Hulk again), I’ll be putting bets on the outcome before the 2nd trailer drops! 🤣

Did anyone notice that Noah Segan, who played Nikolai the bar owner here, also played Derol, the slacker, in The Glass Onion, and Trooper Wagner in the original Knives Out?

My personal headcanon is that Rian Johnson sat down at his desk, musing about potential plots for the next Benoit Blanc story, and said to himself “I need an old priest, and a young priest…” It was an interesting experience watching this with my wife, who had been raised Catholic but who had left the Church prior to being confirmed, because the family moved away and she despised the new priest, who tended towards the fire and brimstone manner of preaching. She had often said that she would probably have remained a Roman Catholic if it hadn’t been for that move. After watching this film she also commented that Father Jud had a similar manner to that initial priest whom she respected (and who coincidentally reached the rank of Monsignor before he passed away).
