I am so glad that you reacted to this important episode. It gives answers to many questions that are part of the show and let's us create new questions to focus on.

Ejigantor

I think this is a great episode - and it's a great D'Argo episode. It's nice to get to know more about who he was before. And while it's possible D'Argo did hurt Lolan at some point, given that the primary source for that is Magden, I don't find it super credible. Such an appropriate fate for him, trapped in a coma endlessly beating the corpse of the sister he killed in and endless haze of bigotry and rage. Well, not quite endless - he'll die by starvation or dehydration eventually. I like to believe that Pilot is happy to share his den with Aeryn for her and John to use as a love nest. I doubt he's much of a fan of Scorpius in any case, and Aeryn is quite obviously his favorite. Plus it's an excuse to give him screentime, which is always a good thing. The flaming dodecahedron back and forth was taking place on a technology enabled version of the Astral Plane - If you remember X-Men 97, Xavier pulled all the Shiar folk into an Astral classroom; kinda like that, and they were using willpower to move the fireball. The way I understand John's training, it wasn't about grabbing the key itself, it was about being able to maintain focus despite the heat such that he would be able to retrieve the key in time. The whole key drop-and-melt process was so fast that he couldn't delay at all from the moment the key dropped, and when his mind was drifting because of the heat he wasn't able to. This ability to maintain focus is what will allow him to resist Scarran heat interrogation. And I think the key was dropped by an automated system with a randomized timer.

but why wouldn’t john and aeryn be forever and ever and always? maybe farscape can finally let somebody have a happy ending…
