The inevitably heartbreaking thumbnail...

Imzadi

Omg God. It's here. Even from the thumbnail it looks painful. And now image how we felt knowing that was the last episode ever. The scream of Farscape fans was heard around the world.

Michael French

She knows about the peacekeeper wars miniseries they made after this that acts like a real finale, right?

TGrimace

Did we know about Peacekeeper Wars at the time the finale aired? No. We didn't know. The cast didn't know. The networks didn't know. It wasn't even a concept to anyone yet. It was roughly 2 years between the finale and the mini-movie. The outrage from the fans was.... well, I'm guessing you can imagine. The entire peacekeeper wars miniseries was a result of the backlash. The letterwriting campaigns. The crackers sent in the mail. The protests. The demonstrations. Outrage and fan response for a series being cancelled wasn't a new thing at the time. In fact, I remember it being a fairly regular thing back then, but it never caused anything to happen. But the organization and fanaticism of the farscape fan's response (websites, newletters, clubs) actually worked in this case. And we got the Peacekeeper Wars.

Thankfully, she does. Angela previously mentioned that she knows there's the peacekeeper wars after season 4, but the ending of Bad Timing is still so affecting that I'm not surprised that she will have reacted so strongly to it; we've all been where she's at there and experienced that heartbreak.

And this is why we FOUGHT so hard to get the finale season. We ended up winning the Peacekeeper wars which is basically an entire season shrunk down. :-) Enjoy the Peacekeeper Wars.

Watching this after hearing the show was cancelled unexpectedly was devastating and I thought it would never be finished, followed by the end credits which were just... empty solemn silence and no music.

Out of every tv show or movie I've ever watched, there are 2 lines which hurt more than anything else I've ever heard in the last 40 years. One of them is David Tennant's "I don't want to go", the other is D'Argo's howling cries at the end of this episode.

How did I know this was gonna be the thumbnail...

Really happy that you watched Farscape, it's such a bright gem in sci-fi storytelling and getting to share it with people is such a treat. PS: hearing your story about Short Circuit has me guessing you were probably sobbing uncontrollably when you first watched certain scenes in Short Circuit 2. Johnny-5 melts everyone's heart and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Watching this the first time, knowing that it was the end, I cried, which is really no surprise. I cried a lot. Hurt and angry is probably the best summation of my feelings. And yeah, so happy only moments later, with the Happy News and proposal. Such a good episode though. Before the ending, along the way, it feels like it could be a series finale, I think because it was closing of a fairly significant chapter in the story; John is no longer desperately searching for a way home. He found one, and then had to close it. Allowing him to move on, as was noted in the wrap-up. I love the way the episode starts: Previously, on Farsape, [all of Farscape] And at the very end, as the credits role without music, you can hear Moya as she flies past.

I remember when this aired. I wrote my letters to Sci-Fi and Bonnie Hammer, mailed out my crackers and worked online to help bring the show back. It really was hard as the Sci-Fi Channel had promised them a fifth and final season and then yanked the bottom out at the last second. The ending was brutal and the time until they finally signed up for the Peacekeeper Wars was a pain. I remember all around that time you had “Firefly” start and get cancelled, Stargate SG-1 was cancelled by Showtime (but thankfully moved to, of all channels, Sci-Fi, which worried a lot that it would get 1-2 seasons and get cancelled again if they were lucky). It was pretty bleak in that short time for science fiction fans. Thankfully the crackers and letters got us “The Peacekeeper Wars”, Stargate SG-1 ended up going 10 seasons and two spinoffs and Firefly came back with “Serenity”. But yeah, D’argo’s scream and the ending were beyond tough for us fans of our little puppet show.

“Don't cry because it's over, be happy you got to experience and enjoy it"

Watching this episode live for me was crushing. With the intro with recapping the entire show and then with what they said at the end of that, I was bawling... I was cursing them for doing that to me with just the intro. Then the ending. I started screaming like Dargo at the cruel universe. Then there was the write in campaign. The sending of crackers. The fan videos. Then about a year later ... news that there was going to be a follow-up which ended up being The Peacekeeper Wars. I was so happy to know that the show was going to be resolved.

the juxtaposition between the two thumbnails of the pilot and finale is so incredibly appropriate and accurate to what life is like AF: After Farscape.

You mentioned Farscape doesn't get a lot of views (yeah, unfortunate!). Just wanted to say I found you and stayed a subscriber because of Farscape, and will continue because of Babylon 5 that you mentioned a few eps ago :)

Dylan Humphries

I'm an Australian so I have a particular love of Farscape ... but the comparison you make at the end to Babylon 5? Your hopes are in vain. Babylon 5 will take you to the most desperate lows, and the giddiest highs. But at the end you'll be glad you went.
