this episode is something unique and unexpected for Doctor Who at this point in the show’s run: it’s bad I feel like we haven’t gotten a truly “bad” episode in several seasons, and this one really takes the cake. luckily it’s not yet indicative of a consistent decline in quality — just a hiccup. there’s still fantastic stuff to come too many poor writing decisions to unpack — why is Clara suddenly the one to be in charge of a strike force? why is nobody in this episode enjoyable to watch? why did Eleven make a bizarre, out-of-character comment about Clara’s skirt being too tight? —oh, and of course it was written by Neil Gaiman 👎 which just makes so much sense tbh can’t wait for next ep though. Moffatt to the rescue

the next few episodes really pick it up can't wait till next week to come round

It’s a little surprising how much “Star Trek” is just repurposed Doctor Who plotlines. That’s not a dig at Trek, it’s a compliment to how inspiring Who was for being such a low budget sci fi show.

Neil Gaiman has only written two episodes of Doctor Who, The Doctor's Wife and this one. Odds are he won't be asked back to write a third... If I recall correctly, Gaiman was not happy with how this episode turned out anyway -- directorial interference, or some such? I'm not going to look up the interviews. And yes, at the time it was broadcast, much of the fandom was down on it, considering it not great. (I liked it when I first saw it too!)

The Cybermen assimilated the Borg. That very primitive meta-insectoid species didn't stand a chance. No more Neil Gaiman written Doctor Who episodes. The Doctor's Wife was the best of the two and certainly not likely to be anymore.

As fun as this episode is, and as much as I can enjoy it (especially on rewatches), its definitely not up to the same level of quality as the rest of Series 7. This and the last episode definitely represent a dip in the quality of the season. Thankfully, its a short-lived dip and the rest of the season and the specials are all absolute bangers. Hopefully, Nathaniel has included Night of the Doctor in the schedule. IMHO, its required viewing before the 50th special. I'm so looking forward to your reactions to everything coming up :D

Re Night of the Doctor, totally agree, but definitely NOT before the next episode!

Now we know why Matt was SkyNet in Terminator.

A lot of people say this episode is bad, I'd argue it's just under developed. I've heard rumours it was originally meant to be a 2 parter with the reveal of Mr. Clever being the end of the part 1, which honestly makes sense, but there were too many episodes in the series to allow a two parter. I said a while back, whatever you expect from Matt Smitth he'll suprise you, this is exactly what I meant, his performance is spectacular, Warwick Davis is a delight as he always is, Gaimans writing is on point (look, I get it, I don't and won't support him anymore, but you can't deny his talent). Literally the only issue for me is the pacing.

Correct order (take note): Series 7 FINALE --> 50th Anniversary --> 2013 Christmas special --> Series 8 Episode 1

I can’t wait for the next two Dr who reactions!!! Also have you considered reacting to Good Omens? It’s sooo good and has David Tennant

Did you catch the soldiers name? Its stormageddon from the other cyberman episodes!
