What is up with the moody annoying teenage girl? Well she is a teenager :D it is what they do

Stevon Matthews

This episode is underated. I don't understand the hate it gets. It's always been a peak Cybermen story to me.

Frank (MetronV) Izzy

Definitely watch Season 2 of Sandman! And Disney did Warwick and the entire cast soooo dirty with what they did with the Willow series when they cancelled it and removed it from streaming. Matt killed it in this ep, and I really enjoyed Clara taking charge. :)

Adrian Gell

This remains my favorite Warwick Davis role. Glad you enjoyed the episode.

Ben

Warwick is pronounced Warr-ick not War-wick.

Alkaris

This is a pretty good episode, the switching of two characters is always a fun one to see, and it's just great seeing Matt really show what he can do. Just rather unfortunate that this episode was written by an abuser with sexual assault against women.

Ash Davis

I remember being so pumped for this episode when it first aired, and then was supremely let down. I know there’s an argument to separate the art from the artist, but knowing what I know now about the writer, everything I disliked about this episode got even worse. If it wasn’t for Warwick and Matt’s amazing performances I would put this episode below even Fear Her.

So look forward to Wednesdays, thank you 😊

Martin

This episode is quite good doing what you mentioned at the beginning of going between silly and scary but I think it works but this episode is mostly about Matt Smith cooking! Like a human smegal/Gollum going between personalities, an excellent performance. And see, Who Wednesdays is totally a thing, even Clara and the Doctor know this.

In defense of our not catching Porridge was the Emperor first time round, the wax figure doesn't look that much like him aside from the height, and we didn't get to see the coin. Though after the button talk I was pretty sure when he confirmed that Clara was in command, and how the captain responded to him. I really like this episode. i like the redesign of the Cybermen themselves we see here, and the upgrading process does feel like a natural progression of their technology. And while yes, it does seem Borg like, but the Cybermen aren't Doctor Who's Borg, the Borg are Star Trek's Cybermen. I also enjoy that they included the weakness to gold, because I remember watching an episode of Classic Who where Cybermen were fought off with gold coins and a slingshot. I also really enjoy Matt's dual performance - especially the moments when he's Mr Clever pretending to be The Doctor. He's a phenomenal actor.

I’m glad there’s a plan(s) in place for the next couple of episodes to keep the spoilers away. I’m always happy to see a quick montage of all the “classic” Doctors to get more people curious and check out Classic Who and Doctors 1-8. Yes, the sets are wobbly and they can run a bit long stretching out each episode with classic tropes of “Doctor, what do we do now?!?” And “I’ve fallen and twisted my ankle, surely I’m done for!” But it is what it is and is worth it for a lot of the gold that was Classic Who. And then they’ll be times when something happens in Classic Who that’ll make you remember a 2005- onwards episode that’ll make you go “Oh, That’s what the Doctor was talking about”.

And she walked into a room full of soldiers and complained about being bored, like they owe her entertainment. Just seemed like a bored, annoyed at everyone, thinks everything is lame typical teenager.

It’s so ironic we’re talking about the Neil Gaiman and The Sandman of it all, when this episode feels like it borrows heavily from one of the better single issues of The Sandman (and one that did not get adapted in Season 2 of the show, since it was very much a standalone story).

Carl Wilson

It's partly just a joke about stubbornly unimpressed teens - but remember that Angie lost her mother not that long ago, and Clara's the figure who has stood in for that role to some degree (altho of course that's not at all her intention), so Angie very likely has some specific resentment directed at Clara through no fault of her own. Which is especially sad given that Clara lost her own mum when she was 19. I don't remember if they ever deal with that again, but it's what this ep made me think about - along with DON'T EVER BRING CHILDREN ON THE TARDIS IT IS WAY TOO DANGEROUS ARE YOU INSANE?!!!!

Cei Stockport

It's called the Imperium, has an Emperor they pray about. Has an Imperial Guard using penal units, destroys planets as SOP rather than let them fall, the ship's make Warp Jump's and the Emperor sit's on a Golden Throne. This all feel's very....familiar. 'The Emperor Protects!'

I've a question? Loved the reaction but do you intend to watch "An adventure in Space and Time" which tells the true story of Doctor Who and is usually watched between the end of the next episode and the one after? It might help with future episodes, but it needs to be a specific version as originally released. Sorry I can't be more specific but, you know, spoilers!

James Fleischman

Every time I watch this episode I sigh because it starts with the children and I don't really like their inclusion in needless danger. But then I remember Warwick is in this and that cheers me up.

Paulo

Again with the gross bugs????!!!!!!
