"And the sky was full of stars and every star an exploding ship. One of ours." A very memorable quote, even after all these years. This just proves how well this series is written when, after thirty years, the dialogue comes back. Like Bester with his "Anatomically impossible, Mr Garibaldi. But you're welcome to try. Anytime. Anywhere." Bester's "Be seeing you" and that salute comes from the classic '60s series, The Prisoner. Another that, if you've not seen it before, Angela, I think you'd like it.

Brian Pickering

I would LOVE to hear another reactor on The Prisoner. I'm only aware of one, although I'm so far behind that I haven't looked for too many more.

Cody Sinclair

The editing on this episode is absolutely fantastic! 😂 It’s interesting that you said that you thought you’d have to wait seasons before you get answers, don’t worry, this show doesn’t drag things out unnecessarily and you are just at the tip of the iceberg with how much Babylon 5 has to offer.

Brian Pickering

Don't feel bad about letting your "political views" appear. 1) You're a reactor. Hiding those views means we're not really seeing how you feel about something. 2) The people who don't like those views hold a very narrow view of the universe. In my experience, the more people are willing to learn about the universe around them, the better a person they are.

Brian Pickering

Won't say too much, "That would be telling." It’s always a little sad when people watch a political show but get mad when someone points out the politics.

The only one that I know of, and who finishing the series, is Medusa Cascade. She has also reacted to Sapphire and Steel, Doctor Who - as you may have gathered - and Babylon Five. Would love to see what Angela thinks of The Prisoner. Jess from Sesskasays as well. I don't know what 'Medusa' is doing now. I've not seen her stuff for quite some time. I really have to limit my time on the net to sensible portions and have to be picky.

Josef Schiltz

Being bullied by nationalists as a child - the bullying worsening after my father died suddenly - informed my own viewpoint about racism and nationalism and I am like Sinclair who is a universalist. That is why I love the work of Carl Sagan. I've never seen anyone react to his series Cosmos. I would love to know if Angela is familiar with the series that he co-wrote with his wife, Ann Druyan, which aired in the early '80s. It seems, from what she is saying, that this series would be her thing.

Josef Schiltz

'Zero G Tennis' would require a massive cognitive overhaul, challenging the brain's internal predictive models regarding speed, momentum, and spatial awareness. What would the rules be?? I require testable evidence! Personally, I feel strongly that this is one of JMS's jokes!

Josef Schiltz

This is regarded as Michael O'Hare's favourite episode.

Popcorn73

Sinclair was always my favourite. The rest of my family didn't like him, thought he was too wooden. Looking back it's easy to see why. But he was my Commander from the start.

Paul Hess

The Warp Reactor has started on The Prisoner!. First episode is already on Patreon and he's off to a great start!!

I consider this one of the first Great Episodes of the series. Earlier episodes are "good", but this is one that I sometimes put on all by itself even when I'm not doing a full watch through the series. Walter Koenig was originally cast as one of the two interrogators in this episode -- and the part was written specifically for him -- but he had a heart attack and was still recovering when they had to start shooting. So the part was recast, and JMS used him for Bester instead (Which was shot later, even though the episode aired earlier). We get another appearance of Jack here! Garibaldi's aide that we see is now a minor recurring character. I always love when TV shows bring back the same actor/character for small roles like this instead of just having a dozen different one-line bit players in different episodes. It makes the show feel more "real" when we see that Garibaldi has a a steady co-worker even beyond the main cast (Like Marianne Robertson as a nameless Tech in C&C who appeared in 20 episodes. One or two lines every episode so we get used to there being other people who work with Ivanova beyond just the commander). The line about aliens "buying up real estate" was a reference to a real-life xenophobic conspiracy theory in the '80s and '90s. It was a Big Thing that wealthy Japanese businessmen and and rich Arab oil sheikhs were buying property in the USA, and it was used as an example that they were trying to take over the country from within and were spearheading a replacement of the USA population. It had news coverage, commentary, etc. It obviously was never actually real at all. The Japanese and Arabs were not buying up real estate more than any other people, and they were not buying up 'half the country', and what land they WERE buying was being used for houses and businesses and everything else 'normal'. But for a while it was one of THE racist talking points.

Jbb

Walter Koenig was supposed be in this episode as either Knight One or Knight Two. But he suffered a heart attack on the day he received the script. JMS wanted to hold production until Walter was better, but Walter didn't want to hold up the whole show.

James Fleischman

I love the Grey Council - such a simple design concept and yet so chilling, especially with the music

Ray (Fanporium)

The whole "some people don't like certain episodes" thing is really bizarre with this series. The one episode I dislike the most and almost always skip in rewatch isn't because it's technically bad, but because its subject matter is just a little too real-world for me, personally, and I can't watch it without getting viscerally angry for several hours.

Pajander

Aww man, I kinda want to start watching the full episodes again but the edits are great.

Vexkun

And on the bright side of that we got him as Bester instead.

Eirik Myhr

Too true! The quality of B5 is so high that even a «bad» B5 episode is still a lot better than an average episode of most other things.

Chris Bruneau

one of my favorite episodes--and the key to one of B5s many mysteries!!!!

Matthew Vandiver

The Babylon 5 main cafeteria... it's your last, best hope... for peas.

Wild_Lee_Coyote

The Lurkers Guide is an excellent resource for Babylon 5 and was one of the first show guides on the internet. It was very active while Babylon 5 was showing new episodes. Nerds really do love Babylon 5.

Umbrella Man

Christopher Neame is such a talented character actor, and I aways forget that he's in B5. It is genuinely such a pleasure to watch someone else get so enthusiastic and excited to watch this show -- it really does love you back.

Janky Cc

a little wooden maybe, but i feel that kinda boosted his more emotional moments further.

scorpius drall

I watched this entire show over 6 times and evertime i find new details that hint to stuf that happens seasons later this sho is so well planed out its amazin it only gets better

HungryTenor

I picked up B5Book's "Commentaries on Babylon 5" (a collection of notes from JMS from their previously-published script book series) shortly before they closed, but never got around to opening it until this reaction series. It's been a lot of fun following along with your rewatch and these commentaries at the same time! Interesting tidbit from this episode's notes: for the dream sequences, the production had arranged to rent a special lens for shooting the distorted visuals. However, on the day of, they found the rental facility had inadvertently rented out that lens to another production. So instead, the DP grabbed a clear plastic pretzel bowl from craft services, dumped and rinsed it out, and shot through that instead.

Bloo

I understand your frustrations about not getting answers to questions. It will take time but you will get the answers. And you will get answers to questions you don't even know to ask yet. it's worth the time.

D Gyre

"there's piles of good and piles of bad" ..Londo (and many others) have not yet begun to pile... there will be mountains by the end

Ryan Fisher

I had someone complaining this morning about reactors expressing politics in reviewing political episodes. I reminded them that if the views agreed with their politics, they would not say a word. People let nostalgia and memory cover their biases. If they liked something before, they still like it now. It leads to interesting blinders. People love TOS, Uhura and Takei, but hate any casting based on race. Last week’s episode literally was JMS dunking on “America First” in 1994. People love it, but hate anyone linking to their current day politics. It’s one step removed from covering their eyes and saying you-can’t-see-me.

William Wood

Ahh a gorgeously revealing episode, which shows us so much , but keeps hidden far far more. JMS knew how to hook you, and gradually reel you in. There is always more, deeper meaning, and depths to discover

MertzRocks

That's for sure - especially ex-sort-of-rock-star nerds! 😜 🤘😎🎸

MertzRocks

Only 6? 😜jk though I know I've seen this a good dozen times + Yep... I'm a nerdlinger with a lot of downtime.
