How dare you interrupt me watching funnylilgal with more funnylilgal

Adinium

The master disappeared back to Gallifrey during the last day of the time war with the high council at the end of the End of Time Part 2. Obviously at the time you watched that episode it seemed like he died because Gallifrey was thought to be gone, but now you’ve watched the Day of the Doctor 50th anniversary special you know that the Doctor saved Gallifrey it’s just lost and so that’s how the Master/Missy survived to regenerate

Clare W

gotta love the holey sweater, that’s peter’s sweater and he wore it during his very first doctor who read through for deep breath! (there’s a nice youtube extra on that one). they really kicked the styling up a notch for this doctor (as you will continue to see). onto my favorite season!!

Duke Lion

if you want to see michelle gomez being insane then watch green wing, only 3 seasons but sheis as mad as a box of frog in that

Arek Schneyer

While not my favorite season finale, there are some wonderful moments and lines of dialogue in this episode.

Robert A.

Did you note the changes in the title sequence? Which name came first, and the eyes...?

Dingus Ex Machina

First, Moffat made statues terrying. Then he made shadows terrifying. Here he tops himself by making death and post-mortem even more terrifying than it already is.

SuperJohnPatterson

I recommend you watch The Five Doctors as a good classic story but also to meet Kate dad an a few other companions enemy’s an Doctor

Stephen Miller

So Michelle Gomez is my best friends aunt. She is exaaaactly like this in real life. Incredibly funny but very very intense. She would always turn up to his house parties when we were teens

craig hemming

I don't think its a spoiler as Angela has said she thinks we will see Missy again and its pretty obvious tbh but with everyone lying to each other Missy wasn't lying about one thing she said and she is so popular as the Master people wanted Michelle to be the next doctor ! she is Angelas favourite Master already, she only gets better !

Michael

Whoever plays the Master is always a wonderful actor and a bit of a scene stealer. The Master is good in small doses.

MaxValPlatt

I'd also include modern Sabrina The Teenage Witch TV show - she is pretty unhinged as Madame Satan there as well

Duke Lion

True, she is insane tho and I love it

stcyl

So happy to see your heart finally accept 12 as the Doctor. And MIssy is absolutely hilariously evil as the Master.

glenn sawyer

Im glad you like the 12th doctor now. If any scene i think of when i think about capaldis first season is the grave yard scene. Missy is the best version of the master, i consider her a frenemy. Nick frost's Christmas special is a great Christmas special, i think you'll love it. I only realized that he was in the movie Paul recently, i dont have any other references for him, but ive probably seen him in something else.

Robert Collard

A Classic Who callback: When Missy said to Seb that the Doctor falling to his death would be incredibly boring, it’s because it has already happened once. In the Fourth Doctor Tom Baker’s final story Logopolis, Baker’s Doctor goes up against the Master (Anthony Ainley in his first role as the Master) and prevents him from already doing irreparable damage to the universe ( The Master had destroyed a fourth of the universe with the power of moving a decimal point over to the left in a complex math equation and killing a few mathematicians. I am not joking) However, the Fourth Doctor finds himself hanging from the top of a satellite dish and sadly falls to his death which causes him to regenerate into Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor.

Robert Collard

She was also great in Doom Patrol as well.

The Lazy Gamer

The Three Doctors might be a better idea, story is tighter and isn't jumping all over the place as much and is more digestible.

Will

That end credits scene was ridiculous and just what I needed. Everything was wrong, and then Santa Claus of all people turns offering hope. And it’s Nick Frost! Lovely.

Josef Schiltz

And as Margaret Thatcher in the video short 'Psychobitches'.

Jeff Ratcliff

Loved this part: Clara: "Look, ask anybody who knows me, I am an incredible liar" Cyberman Danny (looking down sadly): "Correct" Didn't love the Doctor still calling Danny "PE" even after he saved the world.

Duke Lion

We all agree she is amazing, hope our gal gets some time to watch any of them

James Hoffmann

I really like Capaldi's description of the Doctor when he says "I am not a good man. I am not a bad man. I am .... an idiot, in a blue box, passing through, helping out".

DeathSwitch

Peter is such a wonderful actor. 12s journey of self discovery is not over yet and I can't wait for you to see how he evolves. It's a real shame that Danny gets a load of hate from the who community. I really enjoy him & actually like that he and the Doctor never get on. It would've been very easy to make him another Rory or Mickey 2.0. And it doesn't feel forced either. Someone like Danny wouldn't like someone like the Doctor even though they're both good men. I think that's why I love this era so much; Moffat takes bold risks and doesn't go for the predictable line.

Steve Combs

I more so interpreted them lying to each not as them not wanting to let each other down, but rather them trying to protect the other’s happiness. The Doctor believed Danny was back, and so wanted to take the choice out of Clara’s hands to live without the Doctor in her life so that she could be happy, and Clara decided in the moment to sacrifice her truth to protect the Doctor’s desire to be home and to have Gallifrey. It was bittersweet because the Doctor and Clara took so many emotional losses here. 12/Clara in series 8 really showed us a different kind of dynamic between the Doctor and companion. They care more about each other than they do about the truth. It’s sweet, in the totally wrong way.

Josef Schiltz

I suspect that, like myself of the same generation, Steven Moffat was a fan of Department S and their strange and bizarre case files. It seems as if nobody reacts to this series. How about watching their very first episode, as a treat with hubby? It's called 'Six Days'. Main cast: Peter Wyngarde as Jason King, Joel Fabiani as Stewart Sullivan, Rosemary Nicols as Annabelle Hurst and Dennis Alaba Peters as Sir Curtis Seretse.

MaxValPlatt

It also plays a modified version of "The Mad Man with a Box" during it which is a nice callback to 11th era )

MaxValPlatt

Oh. yeah, I forgot that she was a time-travelling evildoer in that show as well )

Aaron Mauthe

2 things. 1st, the brigadier’s final appearance hurts even more when you remember that he’s the person 11 was trying to hang out with one last time during his time running from his inevitable end with river in the spacesuit. And he was too late then, to see his old friend one last time. And now he did get his goodbye, with his old companion getting to be his hero one last time. And 2. I don’t think you do explain it to the parents. I think you just give them back their kid and they don’t care at all because they have their kid back and that’s a miracle.

Chris Padwick

I think that if 12s story had been condensed into a Hollywood movie, Capaldi would have gotten an Oscar for his efforts. It's an extraordinary character development, brilliantly acted. Mind you, he's already got one of them for Franz Kafka's It's A Wonderful Life in 1994. See him on Graham Norton Show with Tom Hanks.

Paul

Glad you're liking 12 now, but you've not seen him anywhere near his best yet. Keep watching....

Aaron Mauthe

Oh fun fact about osgood. The first time we see her is with the long scarf, that is actually THE long scarf that tom baker’s doctor wore, which is the reason ten had a long coat, and also she actually got it FROM the doctor, since the Curator is also Tom Baker as the Doctor.

paul mathers

You have no idea how jealous I am right now

Chris Carroll

Clara's eyes in the opening credits...

Josef Schiltz

It would be lovely to see what Angela thinks of the classic Doctors. Maybe an 'Eight Faces' season akin to what the BBC showed for the 20th Anniversary. Capaldi's Doctor is following a similar path to what we all experienced with Hartnell's Doctor. You could never be quite sure of him. But I also recall what the First Doctor said to Barbara Wright in Edge of Destruction, "As we learn about each other, so we learn about ourselves" Very relevant to the initial Capaldi era.

Benjamin

what a rollercoaster episode. the final cyberman reveal. just a punch in the feels even talking about it chokes me up! great reaction as always

William Wood

It was a wonderful ending, so much pain, sometimes Who does not give you time to consider what the Doctor and their companions go through. I think Moffat is good at showing this over a season. Only better to come. Capaldi is a fantastic actor, and has a lot of my favourite stories.

Jbb

For me this is when 12 became the Doctor again. It is his moment of self realization. Also him willing to let Clara go finally. He kept hoping it would go back to what they had when he was 11. But i also hated this episode. Danny deserved better. Danny was stuck being a soldier, and all the stigma that goes with that. But he dug wells, which isn't glorious. It was a catch 22. He either was seen as a killer or a nobody. And then he had Clara constantly lying about the Doctor and her adventures. That moment when she says "I'm a liar" and he bows his head and says "correct". It always gets to me. And Michelle Gomez does Chaotic Evil so well. Counting down to when she is going to kill someone. I would also like to point out we have an Italian-Scottish Doctor and a Portuguese-Scottish Master/Mistress. Amy is really missing out.

James Wilson

Clara: Thank you for making me feel special. The Doctor: Thank you for exactly the same. For some reason that felt a perfect goodbye.

Clarine

I am glad you found the Doctor back in 12 🥰. He has heart and a big one. He feels a lot. To be fair, 12th is the one that made me feel the most during his time and this is why he became my favorite Doctor. We explore a whole spectrum of emotions and this season in particular they let us seat in weird places with him, whereas before these were just glimpses of darkness and alieness. During season 8 he has a strong shell at the beginning, because he is quite broken inside in regard of who he was to us (I mean he hates himself, he cannot bear gentle physical contact...) so he doesn’t show it the best way but he always cared. He has to learn back how to express everything that he has inside, and how to interact with humans. And piece by piece he regains social skill and I found it fascinating. I like this finale episode a lot because it wraps up a very intimate and human story overall. While before there was a lot of fantasy in it with prophecy and timey wimey, this time it was simple, centered around people. Of course the Doctor had to save the world from cybermen and Missy (yet he isn't the one who is saving the Earth in the end), but this is not about it. This is about trauma responses, this is about love and friendship. This is about seeing people for who they are, even when they are difficult. This was a bold choice and this season stands out to be a very different one from what we knew, but I feel it was worth it. You are entering a very cool 12th era now, and I am so ready for you to feel all the emotions now that you are reconnected with him 🥰

Josef Schiltz

Cyberman-Lethbridge Stewart: "Of COURSE, Doctor! Where else would I be?"

Christina Kopecky

This makes me happy. So glad 12 is growing on you. The mid credits scene was put in at last minute as Jenna was originally not contracted for Christmas. This was supposed to be her last episode. Peter talked her into it though.

Popcorn73

How to make Angela cry over a character she's never met? Have the Doctor salute a Cyberman.
