FULL LENGTH REACTION

I haven't actually gotten into the reaction yet, but I wanted to comment on your intro before I forget. It's cool to see you thinking do deeply about the character's motivations and beliefs. This episode often gets brushed-off as a "filler episode", so it is cool to see you digging into its themes. I'll probably say this again over the course of the show, but the best thing about it how well-developed the characters are. Sure, it has a fantastic 5-year arc and well-thought-out science-fiction setting, but putting the fact that it all contains such great characters is the main reason I come back to this show.

Something I see either looked over or not discussed by reactors: Eyes is in reference to Internal Investigators (Two I's = Eyes). It's a nice clever little acronym that isn't explained before the episode and only briefly mentioned in it. It's the subtle, little things.... calling card of B5.

Andrew Mortimer

Are you a ds9 trekie? Did you recognise Weyoun 4-8? :)

Paul Hess

I love your theories and discussion; I always click and watch right away! (I'm looking forward to the reaction episode itself sometime this weekend). I think everybody here should be CAREFUL about any hints of what might come out later in the series, whether it be hints or cute allusions to what it might be like when it happens. Babylon 5 isn't like a series it's much more like a large novel where everything is intricately woven into a careful whole so it's more important than most series to be vigilant about dropping hints.

Jeffrey Combs who plays Mr Gray has played multiple recurring roles in Star Trek

...or Brunt...FCA.... or Captain Shran (Andorian Archerprise)..... and many many more;)

Remember this came out like a year after that bike's model year. So it was even more ironic calling it an antique.

Cei Stockport

Alway's find the Garabaldi /Sinclair friendship ironic when I found out how much Doyle DEEPLY disliked O'Hara at this point in filming the season.

Please refrain from commenting on future episodes.

Stop it with spoilers. Yes, that's a spoiler.

As Delenn said, the grail being real or not is immaterial. His belief- his conviction- his earnest search for a greater truth to benefit all life is what matters to them. Five layers deeper. Heh- You're in exactly the right headspace for this show. Ah! You've now met the magical Jefferey Combs. Grey was an excellent intro to his body of work.

Trivial Trivia for this episode: Bill Mumy was asked to improvise the meditative chant that Lennier recites over the bike in one scene. The four syllables he uses, 'Za-Ba-Ga-Bee', happens to be the title of an album by a band Bill had been in. The chant made it into the final show, but when this was discovered he was firmly but politely (but firmly) advised never to do that again.

I just slipped the next DVD into the player, and couldn't help but notice that we have 4 banger episodes in a row coming up!!!!

This. So much this.

I think that's about how O'Hare health influenced his behavior behind the scenes toward his co-stars. And these problems were kept secret by Michael's request till his death in 2012, so, Doyle probably had no idea why O'Hare acted like that and was left frustrated.

Cei Stockport

True, but according to JMS Doyle was by far the worst. Because O'Hare's behaviour changed so rapidly most of the cast had an idea that something might be wrong with him (although no idea how serious it was.) JMS knew and Doyles behaviour really got under his skin.

Cei Stockport

Well, reading about his abortive political run, I'd say he had severe issues with a lot of people and thing's, but that's off topic.

Garrick Smalley

You pegged Grey as a psi corps quick, well done. They need to find a round thing they can vroom vroom... Well the space station is round and five miles long, I think they will have a grand time.
