Halloween/Horror Movie poll will be up tomorrow! It will be old school slashers and suspense 😈 Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, Night of the Living Dead, Invasion of the Body Snatchers... Choose wisely!

Xander and I decided to I'm just going to watch Zombieland 2 but we also made the decision to watch The Mist! I thought I had seen it but I had seen The Fog with Tom Welling.

Cowboy Bebop has another fun episode this week. Going old school nearly made my face crack smiling.

Doctor Who this week is a banger. Or was a banger. Or is because it was... Hard to say which came first.

We are wrapping up Castlevania Season 1 with episode 4... Only 4 episodes. It was too short and left me hankerin for more.

Babylon 5. Nothing happened on this weeks episode 👀

Only 3 episodes left... My dopamine hit of the week Ted Lasso is at episode 8. I don't want to think of not having this show here to comfort me. It's been such an incredible joy to see my favorites again but I love the new characters so much.

I still don't know what to do about anime shows with all of the strikes happening here and on YouTube. They are still ongoing on Patreon so I'm nervous to start something I can't finish. I will keep you updated once everything has chilled out.

Don't worry; the length of the Castlevania seasons will get longer from here on out. And yeah, the copyright hits on the reactions really suck. I'm sure it'll work out; it always does.

James

You can get strikes on patreon? And how does that even make sense with watchalong reactions? Im sorry youre having so much trouble with this.

DC42

You should watch 2001 & 2010, if you haven't already; they'll REALLY get your theories going!!

Patrick Waldeck

The Mist is legitimately one of the most insane movies I've ever watched, I can't wait for you to see it.

Lee Aguera

Season 1 of Castlevania is short yes, but its also the weakest and least visually impressive. And its still great. Its uphill from here!

funnylilgalreacts

Yep, you can still get a DMCA strike on Patreon. Those are mostly people who show the entire footage of whatever they’re watching, but they’ve been getting people because of titles alone. I do think it’s specifically targeted to specific reactors, but I don’t wanna make the assumption and be wrong.

funnylilgalreacts

I was complaining that it should’ve all just been one long movie 😅

James

That really sucks, im sorry you have to deal with this. And they literally have no right to give you a DMCA strike for watchalongs because you dont actually show the footage. They really need to get their crap together.

funnylilgalreacts

I think they’re cracking down because a lot of reactors have started showing the footage, so they don’t care necessarily if you are or you’re not. But if it’s in the title, they’ll hit you anyway just to make sure.

DC42

The films "2001: A Space Odyssey" and its sequel "2010: The Year We Make Contact." Your brain will go into overdrive trying to figure out everything that's going on!

James

Still not right. I hope they cool down soon so you dont have anymore issues.

Lee Aguera

Season 1 could have been a movie, 100%. Seasons 2-4, nah gal, buckle up you got some cartoon vampire hunters to watch.

MertzRocks

2001 A Space Odyssey and 2010 The Year We Make Contact? If you've never seen them you should sometime, so I second this suggestion. People really thought by the turn of the century we'd be riding in space buses and taking ships to other planets. The Expanse gives a slightly more realistic timeline imo. (lol I'm not quick enuff)

ReversePrime141

I cannot for Halloween poll! I hope it’s Scream

Cody Thomas Sinclair

Yep, absolutely nothing happens in this weeks Babylon 5... nothing at all... 👀

Clare W

yesssss before the flood is so fun!! such a great story. so excited to see what you think of it + your evolving perceptions of the 12th doctor

funnylilgalreacts

Ooh I thought you meant like "Halloween 2001" or something. I definitely need to watch 2001 because I never have been have seen it reference a LOT

DC42

You gotta watch 'em both!!

Paulo

Nope,no thank you. I’ll be skipping the whole month.

Dylan Roberts

did your obsession reaction get stroked? I don’t see it

The current wave of anime strikes seems to be mostly focused on titles distributed by Viz Media and HiDive, which does unfortunately include Death Note (tho I haven't heard of any DN strikes happening lately). The rights for MHA are a bit more scattered, so you might have some luck there (and I haven't heard of any MHA Patreon takedowns in this wave, either). As for Castlevania, you'll hopefully be fine. Technically it isn't anime. Western animation studios/distributors seem a bit less trigger happy (at the moment).

It's one specific company RemoveYourMedia.com run by a man named Eric Green who absolutely does not own the rights to anything he's striking. He's using an AI system to strike anything that has the keywords he inputs. Naruto and Bleach have been the main focus but he's also gone after deah note. It's so egregious that he even accidentally struck a cleaning company with the word "bleach" in it because his ai system can't tell the difference. It's honestly a mess. But it has nothing to do with the footage being shown or not. Eric Green and his company also have history of doing this is the past.

funnylilgalreacts

Yeah, it’s not necessarily just getting hit but it’s also waiting for content to either be restored or having to delete it and I don’t really wanna go through what some of these other reactors are going through. I’ve been following it on a Discord and it seems so inconvenient and stressful.

Dylan Roberts

ahh I see. Looking forward to it if it comes back. Love your reactions !

Thir . . . ded! Definitely 2001: A Space Odyssey and the sequel 2010! Arthur C Clarke and Stanley Kubrick. There was also a Marvel Comics version of 2001 that was drawn by Jack 'King' Kirby, who had previously drawn Thor and Fantastic Four in the '60s. The spaceship designs were also used - and credited to the film - in a comic strip back in the '70s called Countdown and TV Action in the UK.

Josef Schiltz

The 2001: A Space Odyssey film also annoyed Rock Hudson, who yelled out at the screening he attended, "WILL SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THIS FILM IS ABOUT???"

zinori

best Capaldi season coming up whoop!

Josef Schiltz

Kosh: "Yes" . . . . ( glides away mysteriously )

Josef Schiltz

They are really nuts. Lawyers, and the like, raking in the dosh as usual. Richard O' Brien - creator of Rocky Horror - says that these people "wear dark glasses so that you can't see the lack of moral light in their eyes."

Josef Schiltz

Green? Uh oh! I hope he's not an American throw-off of my family? We have some depressive totalitarians amongst our lot who got kicks and endorphin rushes from making other people's lives miserable.

Josef Schiltz

My comment, being hidden, is probably because I said a naughty word. Possibly two? I mean, we're relatively responsible chaps and chapesses. Do we really need these bots policing our every word? How childish.

Josef Schiltz

Of course I suppose using code words would be counterproductive. For Castlevania, for instance, use 'Unca Vania' and for Doctor Who 'The Sainted Physician' - from The End Of Time.

Steven Cavanagh

Can I recommend the 1998 Denzel Washington film Fallen.

"Noirvember" What Is Film Noir? The term “film noir” has been a subject of fascination and study (and debate) amongst cinephiles since its inception. The history of the genre dates back to the 1930s and 1940s, originating from a blend of American crime dramas and French poetic realism, as well as German Expressionist cinema. This period, known as the classic era of film noir (1940-1950), introduced audiences to a new form of storytelling that was unconventional and dark, both in narrative and visual style. The debate over whether film noir is a distinct genre or a stylistic approach persists. However, its identifiable characteristics — low-key lighting, unbalanced compositions, themes of crime and moral ambiguity, and the presence of elements such as the femme fatale and the cynical detective — suggest a specific, though flexible, framework that influences both the narrative and visual aspects of these films. Some of the better ones to help getting started: Laura (1944) Shadow of a Doubt (1943) The Third Man (1949) The Maltese Falcon (1941) Sunset Boulevard (1950) Sweet Smell of Success (1957) Strangers on a Train (1951) Double Indemnity (1944) Touch of Evil (1958) Notorious (1946) In a Lonely Place (1950) The Big Sleep (1946) White Heat (1949) Out of the Past (1947) The Night of the Hunter (1955) The Killers (1946) Mildred Pierce (1945) Spellbound (1945) The Harder They Fall (1956) The Strange Love of Martha Ivers (1946) The Blue Dahlia (1946) Suddenly (1954) All Through the Night (1942) The Big Clock (1948) Key Largo (1948) The Stranger (1946) Suspicion (1941) To Have and Have Not (1944) I Want to Live! (1958) The Wrong Man (1956) High Sierra (1941) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) They Drive by Night (1940) Dark Passage (1947) The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) The Enforcer (1951) D.O.A. (1949) Witness for the Prosecution (1957) Detour (1945)
