This really should have been the origin story for The Great Intelligence. That is what could have been the signal and it had access to space-time, unwittingly, via the TARDIS. It had so many Great Intelligence tropes including the dust creatures which, to all intents and purposes, could be precursors of the creatures in the Troughton stories and the stories of the Eleventh Doctor. and the humans under GI's control. I still cannot believe the chance they either didn't think of or threw away with this!

Ben Walker

This episode has always feels painfully weak after the masterclass we got last time. An interesting concept, but executed poorly at best.

MaxValPlatt

I honestly think that this one pulls a short stick in 1) being the only one-parter in the season. 2) reusing the shtick of memetical virus that will change your mind and you mutate into stuff, while we already had a similar thing in this same season with underwater two-parter about coordinates that turns you into digital ghost. 3). Evil doers are doing evil for the sake of the evil, and they aren't doing it engagingly enough.

craig hemming

yes this episode is not one of the better ones...but the next 4 episodes are delightful.

Clare W

i watched the next four episodes for the first time all in one day…. what a day

Cody Thomas Sinclair

I really started to struggle with Doctor Who at this point, I didn't like how frustrating all the lying was last season and this season really struggled to keep my attention. I think this season has some incredibly high points – like last weeks episode – but something about this season just doesn't resonate with me half the time. It led me to not even watching the next season, which became one of my favourites after I went back to it. But this episode? I couldn't even remember the events of it, even though I know I watched it when it came out.

Michael

They could have placed this one anywhere in the season. After a nearly full season of two-part episodes, this one off, stand-alone episode feels out of place. Mark Gatiss wrote this episode with plans to ... (well, that would be a spoiler to finish that thought, one way or another).

Matt Warburton

This is an interesting episode but it’s always felt off from everything else. It definitely is the palate cleanser from everything we’ve seen and what the rest of S9 will look like. And the ending is a bit jarring because it seems like the Doctor didn’t really stop anything. But the episode makes strong choices whether or not they worked in the end. In a season of just hit after hit this episode does feel like the odd one out. I wonder if you put this episode in a weaker Series, would it stand out more?

River Docken

This is definitely the weakest episode of the season. But if you compare it to all the bad episodes in doctor who it's pretty decent. I caught on to the Clara cam thing the second it happened so I figured the twist ahead of time.

Robbie

There is always a weak episode in a season, not bad.. but weak, honestly I don’t hate this episode. But in comparison to the previous two episodes, it’s definitely hard to compete.

As I said in my other comment, this should have been the origin story of The Great Intelligence. In fact, I thought it was, until there was no follow through. I found that to be annoyingly short-sighted.

The Inedible Mattman

This is probably my least favorite episode this season. Not that it's bad, it's fine. It's a really cool idea and it's written by one of my favorite Doctor Who writers ... it just doesn't have that punch or pazazz that this season has given us thus far. That being said ... I wake up every damn day and remove crusties from my eyes. How dare this episode make me fear the morning lol

Clarine

I agree. Good ideas, not the best episode. Now I take a seat for the rest of the season with popcorn.

Samuel Ortiz

Time to enjoy my food and chill out with your reactions, This episode is least popular but I loved it. Can't wait to watch this and these upcoming episodes ayy

DeathSwitch

In a season of bangers, an experimental one off spooky episode with Sandman playing every now and then wasnt the worst result, lets be honest.

Clarine

I like that at the end we have the Tardis pov 👁

Natalie

This is one of the few episodes I’ve never rewatched. It’s just so bad. The idea of killer eye bogies is never going to be scary.

Oswin Pond

Underrated episode! The ending being abrupt and underwhelming is kind of the point. Like the Doctor says "None of this makes any sense!", it's all manufactured by Rassmussen as a pretty weak series B horror short film that he broadcasts to infect everyone, you already lost by viewing it. The climax is supposed to be easy and stupid it's just so that he can finish the story and reveal he already won haha.

'Sleep No More' really should have been the origin story for The Great Intelligence. That is what the signal to the Solar System may have consisted of and it had access to space-time, unwittingly, via the TARDIS. It had so many Great Intelligence tropes including the dust creatures which, to all intents and purposes, could be precursors of the creatures in the Troughton stories and the Snowmen story of the Eleventh Doctor. and the humans under GI's control. The Great Intelligence always seeks integument for itself, being frustratingly formless. The dust creatures were it's worst form and they needed to evolve embodiment. I still cannot believe they didn't follow up on this! The Morpheus Machine also grabbed onto Clara as if it knew she was significant, after all, it was Clara who split off into different incarnations to defeat The Great Intelligence's plans to destroy The Doctor. If that is a coincidence, then it's a massive one. I am headcanoning the Morpheus signal as an early, accidental manifestation of the Great Intelligence using the TARDIS's space-time wake to scatter itself bridging the gap between the 38th century and the GI's older, Lovecraftian roots.

Josef Schiltz

To be honest, I thought the previous two Zygon episodes felt like a dragged out B-Movie, the only highlights being The Doctor's speech in 'Inversion' and Jenna's portrayal of Bonnie. I found 'Sleep No More' to be far more interesting in concept.

Marcus Hicks

OK, this is the weakest episode of the Season. I keep forgetting this one even existed.....probably because I always skip it on a rewatch.

kris

"if you're wondering how they eat and breathe and other science facts... la la la... just think to yourself its just a show i should really just relax"

Drake

BBC has a set budget for a season, tehy wanted an expensive finale so ... they needed to cut corners to save money and sadly this episode is literally the cheapest they could do to safe money xD

Death Lego

My favourite bit of this episode is the very first line. (And maybe 12's quip on the whole of time recap.) On these rewatches, I without fail, have the impluse to skip this one. I don't generally do that at with any others. Then, if I do choose to press play, the first line works spectacularly well, as an unneeded reformation for my instincts. 🤣

lerina xx

I’m so ready for the next 4 episodes.
