Progress Report - December 16, 2025 (Patreon)

Hello, everyone!
It's been another relatively productive week on my end. Could've been more productive, could've been less. Overbreed Sequence B has broached 3.5 minutes of animation so far, and the Life is Strange Micro series is getting tantalizingly close to entering the post-dub stage of production. Finally, I have plans for the holidays which will disrupt productivity. So let's talk about those three things!
I'm going to make this post available to all paid members, so everyone can see the schedule update at the end of the post. I would make it available to the public as well, but Patreon don't like public posts having naughty images in them, so. Yeah.
Progress on Overbreed Sequence B has been a bit of a rollercoaster, as I constantly hemmed and hawed about what to do with it. I've stated many times before that I'm not a big fan of the first major pose in the storyboard for it, and how I want to change it. Just finding an adequate pose to replace it with was a challenge in its own right. I did finally find one though, the pose in the preview for this week's Progress Report.
After putting together said animation, though, I decided to scrap it. As much as I don't like the pose used in the storyboard, it does have some very nice symmetry with the greater narrative. And so I decided to return to it, begrudgingly.
And then I decided to unscrap the animation, because I just really don't like the storyboard pose. I went through the storyboard a few more times and decided that the symmetry really isn't that strong, and that I think having a more interesting and engaging sequence is more important than that symmetry. So now I'm committing to this new position.
Speaking of symmetry, putting together the first sequence of Mercy imagining herself on both ends of the position came out... rough.
The significant differences in Mercy's proportions compared to the Hitman Male, as well as just their general size difference, resulted in the two animations looking significantly different. I'm not too fussed with the details for this particular shot - I just want it to match, physicality be damned - but I will need to completely rebuild the full animation for subsequent shots.
I might end up fudging this particular shot though, just because the Mercy half of this sequence is particularly jittery. And I am much more concerned with matching the motion than I am with accuracy. We'll see how things come out as I continue to make headway on Sequence B.
Regarding the Life is Strange Micro, more progress has been made on it. All of Dorn's audio for Max has been submitted and processed, as has all of VoidSlut's audio for David. Joyce's audio was already processed previously. Which means the project is now currently waiting on Baku's audio for Chloe - once that comes in and is processed, I can align everything (make sure people don't talk over each other), export the audio out of Resolve and install it into SFM, and finally send it off to ToneDeaf so that he can begin processing the audio while I work on the post-dub process.
Baku reached out to me on Sunday to inform me that she has most of the audio already recorded, but is currently waiting for a cold snap in her area to pass so that she can finish it off and send it all in. With temperatures plunging into the negative-double-digits celsius for her, she's been running her heating full blast - and the noise that generates is too much for a clean recording. Freezing herself while she records is obviously not viable.
Her current goal is end-of-day on the 17th, EG tomorrow. Of course, we're at the mercy of both the whims of the weather and the whims of life for that. But I won't lie when I say I am vibrating in anticipation of her audio coming in, and finally getting Dorn's amazing performance her to-be-sure-equally-amazing counterpart.
And then finally, let's talk the holidays. If you've been around for a while, then you know that I typically spend the Christmas-into-New-Years with my family, and this year is no exception. The exact amount of time I spend with them is pretty variable, and this week it's a shorter stay, clocking in at two weeks.
Specifically, I will be out of town between December 20th and January 3rd. During that time, I will have extremely limited ability to work on anything. I will do my best, but do not expect much. I am hoping to have all of the Life is Strange audio submitted, processed, installed, and sent out for design work before I depart, but that's an extremely tight timeline.
Assuming that Baku's audio comes in on time, I will probably end up spending all of my time between then and when I leave working on getting that audio processed. As such, don't expect much news regarding Overbreed in next week's Progress Report.
Once I am back and able to work on things normally on January 4th, expect things to pick up to their normal place. Though don't expect much in that week's Progress Report either, since I will only have half a week for it.
That's about it for this week, though! I may or may not make any Progress Reports for the next few weeks. And if I don't, then I hope you all have a great holiday season!
Until next time, everyone!
