Hello, everyone!
It's been another productive week. Overbreed Episode 1 is chugging along, with only Sequence B remaining to get blocked out.
I've looked over the storyboard for it more thoroughly, and forgot just how many unique segments were in it. There are a handful of them I want to rethink, but at the same time, it's a lot less than I originally anticipated needing to rebuild. So I'm feeling, broad strokes, pretty confident on being able to get Sequence B assembled rather quickly.
On the subject of Sequence B, I have a fully finished up Narrative C, and as such, have a fully-assembled Running WIP for Overbreed Episode 1, with the 5-second placeholder. Without Sequence B, the final runtime is clocking in at 54:38. I was anticipating it clocking in at 55 minutes, and so I'd say we are right on target there.
If you think you're brave enough to sit through nearly 55 minutes of completely silent unfinished animation, then I've linked the full Running WIP below, for people to provide their thoughts and opinions on. I'd love to hear any feedback on it all, before I lock everything in. But I won't lie, I don't expect anyone to actually be crazy enough to sit through the whole thing, let alone to take notes on it all.
You can click here to watch the whole Running WIP.
Yeah, I clumsily snuck it under the paywall line. Won't lie, I really appreciate Patreon's change to that system, over the 140-character preview. So much more flexible!
I was hoping to get more progress on Overbreed done this week, and start putting together Sequence B with gusto. But the week ended up being a bit topsy-turvy with the logistics of the Life is Strange Micro Series, so let's talk about that!
Last week, I mentioned how I was starting to reach out to people for voicing, with my priority goal being to hear back from Baku and Dorn to see if they are interested in reprising their roles. The last week has seen so much more than just that done.
I have all four character roles cast and committed. The voice actress for Joyce, who currently wishes to remain anonymous, was already recorded and submitted her lines, which I have in turn installed. She does an absolutely fantastic job as Joyce, to the point I had to play her audio and the official game audio back to back a few times to even really spot the difference. I hope she changes her mind on abstaining from credit, because she does a phenomenal job, and it feels criminal to relegate such a fantastic performance to Jane Doe.
You can click here to listen to a quick sample of her performance. Sadly, it's Joyce running solo in its current state, as I haven't yet received the David audio to her counterpart.
Beyond Joyce, I have also confirmed both BakuSatsu as Chloe and Dorn as Max, returning to their respective roles from the 2023 short video. Baku is hoping to have her audio recorded and sent before next Monday, and Dorn was so excited for the project that she ended up sending in nearly two hours of audio for me to sift through. And she's not done recording yet.
And then to round it all off, I have also gotten VoidSlut in as David's voice. It will be the first time I've worked with him, but he was an instant recommendation from Baku the moment she saw that David needed a voice, and he was extremely confident that he can nail David's stern demeanor. He was also immensely amused by the role and excited for the project in general, both of which are good signs in my opinion.
In fact, everyone has voiced an immense interest in the project, with every single person involved - Baku, Dorn, Void, and Joyce's voice actress - making special note of just how much they love the David/Joyce cutaways and think that they elevate the overall project. I won't lie, this was far more flattering for me to hear than I was anticipating. Yeah, I think they're kinda funny, but I didn't expect everyone to highlight them as their personal favorites.
Hopefully you all will feel the same way once the series begins its rolling release (or its full preview release, for you lucky 2160p-tier Patrons), and I would love if the general audiences appreciate them even half as much as the cast do.
I am about halfway through processing the audio that Dorn sent in (again, nearly two hours!), and she absolutely knocked the performance out of the park. All of her running commentary between recordings is an absolute joy to listen to as well. I'll be sure to cut a few select pieces out to share as some behind-the-scenes bonuses in the coming weeks.
And none of that is to mention the fact that Dorn even submitted a shitpost recording of the entire project. Just ad-libbing the silliest, jankiest lines she could think of in place of the actual dialogue. It is absolutely hilarious, and I very much want to make a special Patron-only bonus shitpost version of the video using her audio. She did the same thing with the previous Life is Strange video, but that project was so delayed I couldn't justify the time to make the shitpost video.
This time around though, we're actually a fair bit ahead of schedule. So I think we might actually get the shitpost version. I'm really excited about that, too.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
Beyond the main focus on Overbreed, and the secondary focus on getting the voices sorted for the Life is Strange Micro Series chapter, I have also been figuring out the next Micro chapter. And I am extremely excited to announce that, after literal months (if not years at this point let's be honest here) of brainstorming, drafting, and writing, I finally have a concrete Parawhores project pitch.
Over the past week, the Discord and I have managed to draft together a six-episode Micro Series chapter to serve as the proper introduction to the Parawhores. Here is the SparkNotes rundown of the chapter. Note that not all of this will make sense to you all now, that's just the nature of a wholly original IP.
Episode 1 - The Corporation reviews footage of Miya getting fucked by a Khnum, with a frustrated question of how a group of monster-fuckers have not only been able to track down in days what the Field Team has failed to find in weeks, but have managed to public the first ever concrete documentation of their existence on a free porn site of all places. 72 hours earlier...
Episode 2 - While having casual butt-sex with the town's resident cryptid conspiracy nerd, tammy sifts through his latest batch of conspiracies, casually pointing out the mundanity of what he thought was profound as he propounds her butt. But amidst the photos of misidentified cats in trees and blurry tree stumps, tammy finds something genuinely worth investigating.
Episode 3 - Miya is tasked with convincing the local tech hoarder to lend some of his more unconventional equipment to the group, so they can hunt down and document (and fuck) the mysterious cryptid that tammy came across in those photos. Miya gets her tits fucked and her ego stroked as the hoarder shares his long-time obsession with her, but finds herself in an awkward spot when he passes out after blowing his overexcited load. Unsure what half the shit tammy asked her to get looks like, she ends up just taking everything.
Episode 4 - (Not pictured currently due to being in the process of building the required assets) As the girls are loading up the equipment Miya got for the expedition, they get busted by the local lecher cop for the stolen gear. And this time, she's not satisfied with simply feeling up the girls. Fortunately for them, Nat is an expert when it comes to negotiating, and knows that mouths are good for more than just talking. She's able to convince the chief to let them go - while potentially securing a future date with her wife.
Episode 5 - Having found the Khnum, the girls get to documenting everything there is to know about him. Including just how vigorously he can fuck Miya. The answer is "quite a bit" by most metrics, and "not enough" by Miya's standards.
Episode 6 - Of course, filming the Khnum rearranging Miya's guts is only half the battle. Someone needs to take the five hours of footage and cut it down to an hour-long video to post online. And that someone, naturally, is Nat. And there isn't enough booze in the building to keep her hammered enough to make it through five hours of gut-stuffing. Luckily, tammy knows just how to convince Nat.
As of right now, we're still extremely early in preproduction. As I noted in Episode 4, I haven't even finished building all of the assets for it yet. But it is underway, and Parawhores is slated to be the next Micro series after this Life is Strange chapter is done and dusted.
For next week, I am hoping to make some substantial progress on Sequence C, as well as have all of the audio for the Life is Strange Micro in. I'm not expecting to make too much progress on Parawhores, with my Micro-allotted time (two hours a day) being taken up with processing audio. But we'll see.
Until next week, everyone!
