Progress Report - April 14, 2026 (Patreon)
Content
Hello, everyone!
This is going to be an even shorter post than last week's. You know the drill by now: Overbreed, Love & Degeneracy, and other things. No points for guessing what the "other things" are for this week.
Let's discuss em.
Overbreed hasn't made too much progress since last week, unfortunately.
I haven't heard back from Milly. I sent her an email on Friday asking for an update, but haven't gotten a response. I intend to send another one end-of-day tomorrow. I have heard back from Cinder, whom is apparently recovering from a respiratory infection she had gotten shortly before she intended to record the first batch of Sombra audio. She is hoping to get the recording done later this week. And I also haven't heard back from Silky for her short DVa cameos, either. Though that is not a high priority right now.
On the positive, all of Sultry's audio for Moira has been recorded, processed, and installed. Similarly, Aspy's audio for the Guy in Mercy's Sequence B flashback has also been installed.
No more progress has been made on lip-syncing this week, though - my sleep schedule had careened out of control over the past few weeks and that kinda fucked everything up. I spent the weekend resetting it, with today being the first real day I've been able to actually take advantage of it.
I'm not sure what it is, but something I have noticed for years now is that my most productive hours are in the morning. I got more done today before noon than I had gotten done over the full span of any other day this past week - and Tuesdays are my dead days, since they're when I deal with all the boring rigmarole chores of living.
That's great and all, except that I am naturally a night owl. So if left to my own devices, I sleep right through my most productive hours. Can't really work between 8am to noon when you wake up at 1pm. And it fucking sucks.
At any rate, hopefully I've got that fixed for the time being and we'll be able to see more forward productivity.
Love & Degeneracy Episode 4 will be entering its final 4k render after I finish writing up this Progress Report. I noted last week I was hoping to have it ready by Monday (eg yesterday). I would have gotten it there if I didn't have the aforementioned sleep schedule issues and consequent reset.
Amusingly, Tonedeaf has also had schedule complications these past few days. We were originally going to go over the audio design yesterday, but we will be doing that tomorrow now.
Unless things go catastrophically wrong, we are on schedule for this Friday's release.
In regards to other things, I haven't had much time to work on the Blender Pipeline. In fact, I haven't had much time to work on anything. I'm honestly not sure where the time went over the past week.
Though during my 36-hour sleep reset, I did manage to get some model work done. Specifically, I had a sleep-deprivation-induced whim to rebuild Juno's suit entirely from scratch, because her canon model has no upper body for it. And so I built her entire suit from a single 2d plane, and textured the whole thing in Substance Painter.
I traced the major details of her in-game suit's lower body, and then I used this official concept art for Juno's suit as a reference for rebuilding her upper body.
While the textures are currently very simple, without any real detail to them (much more closely matching the concept art than the in-game model), I am supremely pleased with how she came out.
I eventually plan to go back and add the details to her suit, but I am now shifting my attention to Juno's jacket. When I work on her next, I will end up rebuilding that from scratch as well, since over half of the jacket's mesh is missing underneath her jetpack harness.
Not looking forward to that, but it is what it is.
Of course, the observant among you may have noticed that I am generally a projects-based person, and generally I only do model work if I have a project in mind for it. And I most certainly have a Juno project in mind. That's all I will say on the matter for now, considering it won't be until 2027 at the earliest I could do anything with it, and the idea isn't fully figured out yet.
Unfortunately, Juno's suit going so well fueled an irresponsible hubris, and I began working on modeling a second outfit...
This one is far more self-indulgent. One of the for-me things I like to do before going to bed on occasion, is make poses of pimp Steph and bimbo Alex together. The other day, I just had the spontaneous thought that I should give Alex a slutty fuck-me dress. So I looked up references and came across this piece and liked it so much that I decided to try building it from scratch.
So far, it's coming along pretty well. It will absolutely need a retopology pass though, as the Booleans completely fucked up the topology. I'm also not sure how I'm going to end up painting the normal maps for the outfit - I want to get the stretch-marks that the reference art has, I think they look nice.
Unlike Juno, I have no concrete plans for this. I would love to do something with Steph and Alex, but I have no idea what. They're niche alternate characterizations of niche characters from a niche game, and I honestly don't know if there is anyone in my target demographic who'd be interested in them. Canon Steph and Alex is one thing, there are a lot of fun stories that you could tell between them (especially if you include include Ryan for triangular situationships; or my personal favorite SFW alternate timeline where Gabe didn't die, and Gabe and Ryan are in a relationship while Alex and Steph are in a relationship, and they do queer double-dates, and--sorry, the fanfic writer broke containment for a moment there). But these particular interpretations are so far off the reservation that they may as well be original characters. But not original enough characters to pull in the OC-interested crowd.
So, yeah. I'll finish the dress on my own time, for my own devices. I'll release it in the event anyone wants to use it (they won't, I don't think I have seen a single person use my bimbo Alex model), but don't expect to see anything from me using it. Which isn't to say I won't make things with it - I will make lots of things with it. But they'll be for an audience of one, and will likely never be released publicly.
Looking ahead, I plan to take time over the next few days, now that L&D Ep4 is ready for release, and use the 2-hour work time to make more progress on the Blender Pipe. I've figured out what the current problem I am stuck on is, and nominally what I need to do to fix it - the question is how to achieve it. So that'll be a fun issue to resolve, and I do mean that sincerely: I love this kind of research.
And then of course, I hope to make a lot more progress on Overbreed. I want to get all of Moira's lip-sync done before the weekend. We'll see what happens.
I'd also love to get more audio from Milly, Cinder, and Silky. But, again, we'll see what happens.
And that's it for this week's Progress Report. Until next week, everyone!
