Omg all the emotions I have held in since the dance at Versailles are all coming out. They haven't had a good moment together since that dance. And now....Sulvain reach for Raziol's face in the same pose they were in in the catacombs. 😭😭😭😭😭 I swear I have been sobbing for 2 days straight.

Iselin

love them ❤️, its Raz's moment of shock and a change in attitude..

Atlanas E. Kildarin

A bit worried how Raziol is going to react to everything. He never even knew Sulvain couldn’t really die. Sulvain was just starting to reveal more about himself when they were separated. And then Sulvain got really hurt and wasn’t there when Raziol returned. (Plus, is 300 years enough time to recover from Hargrave’s compulsion?) Maybe Raziol did some digging himself into Magoi and magic, but he’s still in the dark about so much. But now Raziol possibly has a list of secrets too that he might not be proud of.

🌘Blake!

I haven’t been able to read or keep updated properly for a few months due to life circumstances- and oh my GOD?! I immediately burst out crying ( may not help that i’m listening to phoebe bridgers Moon song as I read- ) BUT GAH- Been such a hard year so far already— and I genuinely mean it when I say, reading Novae and seeing the beautiful art never fails to make me smile, truly so overwhelmed with so many questions and feelings!. It reminds me of how in admits the darkest of days I found Novae four years ago and started reading it, it felt like a light in my life, it motivated my art, helped with my language and vocabulary, changed honestly so much of my life in a positive way- it motivated me to write my own story and ocs! Truly couldn’t thank you enough for creating this !!! sorry for the sappy comment! Just so happy they reconnected for real, GAH SO EXCITED! This is a beautiful start of something old and ever-lasting !!

simquall

Im actually crying i love them SO much. I really wanna know more about the dance with the wine (I’m sure we will). But also I just want them to share a tender kiss after some 200ish years (assuming it WAS in fact Raz at the dance) where they KNOW it’s each other. 😭

Alyssa

They found each other! 🥹🥹🥹 I’m okay, I’m okay, I’m okay 😭💕

Brannen

What do you mean never sign Raziol's name again? Ok. Maybe Sulvain believed he would never sign Raziol's TO Raz again. But I can see Sulvain signing Raziol's name to himself every night for 300 years. Now he's doing what he dreamt of, as I said before. His wildest dreams are coming true. And it looks like the shock is starting to wear off. Hmmm? I did not know that Sulvain (a necromancer inhabiting his own corpse) could feel that kind of shock. No. I know he's capable of emotion. But to let emmotion affect you physically like that, I mean, he's necromancing himself. It just makes me think/believe that love is the greatest kind of power/magic. It's quite literally bringing Sulvain's body back to life. Yes. I know what I just said about love and it's almost Valentine's Day.

My soul has ascended

Raz the chatterbox is about to start running his mouth a mile a minute and I'm here for it. 😍

Emily Rochester
>>164179620

He's always seemed so much more comfortable in his own skin when illustrated with short hair. Happier and miles more confident. Especially after flashbacks to his childhood, it's always been clear that long hair has been part of an uncomfortable mask He's had to wear to fit into French society. Silly goofball Raz is surely still there, but not in the awkward, nervous way we remember from the 17th century. I love it for him.

Amaranth

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Jay Parker

I can't wait for them to get over the initial shock and be overcome by pure joy.

saltandcookies

I thought this before too, but Sulvain seems like someone who doesn’t fall in love very often, but when he does, he falls hard. As rare as it is for him, he feels everything so intensely. 🥺❤️

Max Hawthorn

My heart is so full that they are finally back together!!! 💜💜💜💜

saltandcookies
>>164180558

I think so too. We know Sulvain carries a lot of guilt over some things he’s done that he’s not proud of and has probably been afraid to share with Raziol. But when Raziol left Paris, he was a newly turned vampire who likely had no one to help him. He’s probably done a lot of things that weigh on him while learning to control his hunger. 😔💔

novae

Waaah Blake 🥹❤️ gosh we’re so happy that reading Novae encouraged you to write your own story with your own OCs! Thank you for your lovely message we’re so happy to have you as a reader ❤️

How do I contact the creator? I've been getting double emails of her uploads for months and I want it to stop!

novae
>>164236710

For months? I’m not sure why that’s happening. It’s probably related to Patreon, I’m sorry it’s not something we can do on our end. But you can contact Patreon about it if you wish :)

novae
>>164236710

If you need to contact us personally for any reason though you can send us a direct message in the community tab. We’re sorry you’ve been getting double emails we’re not sure why that would happen.

Sas (Milo's studio insulation funds)
>>164236710

You can turn it off in your settings I think (for app) On the home page click your avatar -> settings -> notification settings and you should have all your creators list where you can click specific creator and play with settings. I have emails turn off completely for creators and rely purely on app notifications. (For the desktop) The 3 bars thing in the top left ->settings -> notification emails (I'm translating it from polish back to English so it can have different name) -> again creators list Maybe this will help?

Conner
>>164236710

Can offer some insight, I think sometimes if you edit the upload of a post, like change the title or something, it can send another email for the change. It happened on our side when you guys edited the page number from "2" to "3". It might do it more for others compared to other patrons. (Like we just got the additional email with the one change, but someone else might get 3 emails) /Gen

novae
>>164236710

Yes you’re right. I did send the last notification twice because I named it incorrectly. Sorry y’all! Im not sure why it would do it for the other emails tho 🤔

Salem Vargas
>>164236710

It happened to me too for a while last year then it stopped a couple months ago. I think it's more of a Patreon issue. But it was weird that it only did it with KaiJu's posts and not the other creator I'm subscribed to.

Juliette Wade

I've been having thoughts about the language aspect of this (because I've studied language acquisition and I can't help myself) and it's super solid, so kudos to KaiJu! Raziol came from a multilingual society in India to begin with and moved to France as a child, so his pronunciation of French would be perfect and his ear for new languages would also be excellent, so I'd expect him to speak English like a Californian here. As for Sulvain, we don't know when he started to pick up other languages. He surely spoke Old French and possibly even some form of Celtic, but since he doesn't speak aloud, pronunciation questions are moot. And the written grammar of new languages is far easier to pick up. I can't help wondering if that was something you researched, KaiJu, or whether you just had the insight of personal experience to go on! Anyway, it's awesome.

novae
>>164236710

Hmmm I thought about that, but I stopped notifying everyone on the updated posts many months ago.

Charlie

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Atlanas E. Kildarin
>>164275973

I didn’t even think of Celtic as a possibility. 😮 Just how long do we all think Sulvain has been around for? So many mysteries, but it’s so much fun to see those secrets revealed in the comic.

Juliette Wade
>>164275973

I have no idea! I’m going off that single image we saw of him in battle gear, and trying not to make any assumptions!

saltandcookies
>>164180558

Definitely! And I’m hopeful Raziol’s experiences with immortality over that period of time will help him empathize with Sulvain’s past more. I bet they’ll come out of this even closer. 🥺❤️

Taylor

If he had a beating heart then Sulvain would have a heart attack

Nekochan
>>164275973

I thought he could possibly be Greek, I'm not sure how I came to that, but he just seems kinda Greek 😯

Juliette Wade
>>164275973

He was speaking French in his childhood, in the bonus comic. That's another thing I'm going on. (It would ruin the Celtic idea! Oh well)

Sas (Milo's studio insulation funds)
>>164275973

I'm pretty sure I saw Sulvain's nationality somewhere and he is French. I don't remember where I've seen it but I remember being suprised that he was born in France and stayed for so long here

Atlanas E. Kildarin

I love how Hargrave’s power-hungry phoenix faction (aka Hargrave) has been looking for a way to be permanently immortal so they can be all-powerful magoi, and then because they’re horrible people, they unintentionally give it to a 17th century nerd who most likely used his immortality for intellectual pursuits and travel. 😁

Fond Phantom
>>164446608

they really tried to end scientists and astronomers, only to turn the Biggest Nerd Of Them All, who will single-handedly will keep science alive if it comes down to it.

Blusalee
>>164275973

I’ve actually thought about this as well. He was also in Hindustan for a while, (where I assume he met Udaya?) so he may speak more languages than we know. There are also different forms of sign language around the world, so it’s interesting to think about.

Juliette Wade
>>164275973

So interesting. I expect he would speak more languages than we've seen him speak, though I'm not sure how much exposure he would have gotten to the languages of his childhood once he moved to France.

_Pop_Dog_

His lips are wobbling, like the very first chapters 🥺🥺🥺

Juliette Wade

KaiJu, I have a question about chronology. You've been so generous with images of Sulvain and Raziol, and those seem to suggest that the timeline as seen in the comic itself may have "missed" some of those moments of intimacy. Are we to conclude that all of it is canon, and that some of those images come from experiences from the 1600s timeline that didn't make it into the central story arc? I admit that's how I want to think about it, since they had so few opportunities to enjoy each other before it all came crashing down...

novae
>>164674752

That's a good question Juliette! All the bonus comics are canon and many of the sketches are too! Though some of them are more of "this could happen" type of scenario, or AU. If the sketches seem like they are plausible then I would definitely consider them canon. :D When we get the chance, we'll post a timeline of when all the comics and bonus comics occur. :)

Juliette Wade
>>164674752

Thank you so much for the direct reply! I would love to see a timeline like that... though I don't want to put you under pressure when you're busy on so many simultaneous projects already. Thinking of them as canon makes my heart happy.

Atlanas E. Kildarin
>>164674752

Ooh! I’m so glad you asked that question. (I didn’t even think to ask.) It’s nice know that they all can be considered canon, or at least as “this could have happened.”

Juliette Wade
>>164632420

I went back to look, and you're right! Also, I found a spot where Sulvain grabs his sleeve... perhaps a deliberate reversal.

Juliette Wade
>>164275973

I went back for some research today and found the image of Sulvain in chain mail with sword and buckler; it appeared in a story he told during his trip with Raziol out on the lake. So then I looked up the history of sword and buckler, and they're OLD. "The primary use of the buckler in Europe was by infantry. Light infantry, made up of commoners armed with bucklers and swords or falchions lined up behind troops with pole-weapons, were used frequently in armies during the 1100s to 1300s. Early Medieval pictorial sources, from c.650 to c.1100, additionally show bucklers in use by Celtic, Frankish, and Byzantine horsemen." source: https://www.thearma.org/essays/SwordandBuckler.htm
