Development Update #60 (Patreon)

Wait, another dev update? Yep, I'm moving these to Tuesdays, and this was a fantastic time to do it. Going forward, I'll have my dev updates on Tuesdays, though weeks where I have a release won't see a dev update. Now for the excellent news.

Renders are completed for Chapter 8! It was a very productive weekend. All that is left is to finish is some updates to the GUI images, and then start I can start alpha testing. I'm hoping to have a beta by the weekend, but we will see if that is a bit optimistic. With any luck, we'll have Chapter 8 released just over two months after Chapter 7. Not bad at all, especially with all the work I had to do between chapters. Really hoping that sort of thing is behind me. In case you were wondering, Chapter 8 is not much smaller in render count than Chapter 7 (though your playtime will vary, based on your harem choices).

I worked through the holiday weekend, knowing that my work week at my day job would be a bit insane. It was really nice to get so much done, as the renders just flowed easily. This new workflow and my presets are really paying dividends. It did so well that I had an opportunity to add in a very short lewd scene with a character you have never had one with before. With the other changes I made between the chapters, I think Chapter 8 will be my best yet.

As far as size, Chapter 8 is pretty close to what you can expect going forward with releases. I am being very careful to calculate the minimum number of renders someone would see in a play through, as, at this stage, it is so easy to do a ton of renders that someone on a single playthrough is only going to see a handful of, especially those of you who may be sticking to only one or two love interests. The joys of a large harem game and other choices that change a lot of what you see while playing. There will be specific love interests that will be focused on with each release.

Now it's time for me to get back to the final work on this release and then alpha testing. Once my beta team gets the release, I'll be moving on to a few small changes to the Chapter 9 script. Chapter 9's render work should start later in July, assuming no massive issues with anything else between now and then. I have all the assets and presets I need completed, so it's just those few script updates, another read through of the script, and then renders will commence. There will be a poll for $10+ patrons to vote on a bonus scene for Chapter 9, as it looks like it will need another scene or two to round out its content. Look for that poll a week or so after Chapter 8's release.
