Uh... surprise? I wanted to release DoW to patrons this month, but it's stalled waiting on some art assets. But I've still been spending time on TLS, so we're getting an update now.

RTP:  https://mega.nz/#!ugs3gR7R!pVZArYr_iHnMB1pSnVcKrYdZ-SV3-Zfti32VroZgy_w

TLS 0.30.0

 - Intro to chapter four.

 - Base customization, expansion, and upgrading.

 - One new plot sex scene.

 - Many affection scenes are now available for the first time.

 - Nine new synergy skills.

TLS 0.30.1

 - General bugfixing. An expansion update may be coming, so this is mostly for new players.

NOTICE: This update does NOT have an endpoint! You cannot finish the quests you're given or retrieve some party members, though if you use the unlocker I mention below you will be able to see them again.

This is not a major plot update and will probably not take you guys long to finish, since the customizable base took up so much of my time. I considered delaying this release to finish more stuff, but decided against it. Better to show everyone the base, get feedback, and refine that aspect of the game before I start building too much on top of it.

I, uh, went overboard in some cases. For example, the party's library starts out mostly empty but grows over time - each bookshelf will be filled when specific conditions are met. This is not really important and took a bunch of time, but I hope it makes the base feel more alive.

Normally, an update requires 3-4 new pages of switches. Because of all the switches I needed to use for customization or hold as placeholders for future content, this one uses 16 new pages. o.O

Since most of the content would be locked away normally, I've added an event to the control room that will disable saving, but unlock everything. I hope you guys enjoy playing around with the various possibilities!

Please do provide feedback on the base mechanics once you've played, but I also have some specific questions:

1) Some customization options can be purchased, but others are unlocked via various means (like Simon being a certain level). How do you think I should announce those? I feel like messages might be too disruptive, but the new options just appearing obviously isn't good.

2) Do you think there's any worth to banners being unlockables? They're not unique enough for me to feel like they should be tied to specific regions or purchased. I did consider having them be unlocked by performing particularly well on specific segments, both past and present. Not so much because they're great rewards, but because it could give the control room a nice feeling of satisfaction for the player. That way even if you just want to use one banner, you can still see a little collection of accomplishments.

Yeah, anyway, let me know your thoughts! I may be AFK for a while, because this was quite a marathon to finish, but I look forward to hearing from everyone!

Looks awesome and I'll do my best to get feedback to you soon but I think the links are missing. For point 1: I'd say notices/paperwork would be a good way to get them noticed without overdoing it. 2: Eh, banners can be nice but it might be a bit much if you have to do them all individually.

EG Douglas

This sounds awesome. Hmm, without having played the release (or even quite getting up to date on the previous one, I've been slacking, and life is annoying) every decent ruler and base needs a Steward to care for things while the Lord is absent. Or, y'know, just act as a glorified message board when he returns and otherwise not be important. Perhaps a certain bitchy student? Rest up this time Sierra?

Kyle S

How about having small insignificant characters giving the updates?

DukeLeto7

I still like the idea of customizing the base's name, because I want it to be called "allyour". (I am in some respects a very childish person.)

ECD

Excellent so far! My only thought is I hope we'll have a chance to earn/collect some Pron to get all the various expansions, as I did not save enough to buy them all up. ETA: The pretty lance synergy for Qum isn't showing up. Question 1: Eh, I think maybe just a statement from the Steward that she's looking for new design options all the time and you should check back with her is enough to get the folks who want to to know they should check in with her each time they come back. Question 2: I think that's a fun idea, but it seems like quite a bit of work for something that's going to be difficult for most people to notice. ETA2: Also, was someone mean to Qum while she was traveling around helping people? If so, we should be allowed to stab them in the face.

Argenten

In the second floor Iris is mislabled as Aka in her character bar at the top

Whismas

Nalili in the upper left corner of the main base level seems to have her names backwards, with her regular "Hi" set to 100+ RP. And Stark seems to show up regardless of if you got him or not

Andrew Westwood

Can't figure out how to leave the base - I'm not sure if it's even possible without the unlocker. Simon just says he needs to take a look around. Although I'm pretty sure I've done the customiser and I've spoken to everybody enough times to exhaust their dialogue. One thing I've noticed is that Iris is identified as 'Aka' downstairs, and Riala's affection is where her name should be, and her title where her affection should be. Other than that, a sweet little update. Iris is adorable.

Grif end

Balia bocks her new room if not funded (there are two of them in the room after you speak with her in floor B1). The banners present are not custom enough to to be story impactful, so to have them as reward seems the best option.

FigelNarage

It was pretty good, considering the base design also gave us some story insight with presumably the next harem character? Either way looking forward to the next update where theres more story!

Lord Forte Games

Yay unexpected but good surprises! XD I think I went through about everything here, let't see... The purple throne (maybe both thrones?) is impassable, it would be nice if we could sit on it and get turned around to be oriented properly. Also, the original wall in the control room gets transformed into the one that you're testing out when you update in the choice pane as well as in the sample. Looking good so far, though. I have mixed feelings on the banners. I agree that they're a small enough thing that they shouldn't be tied to anything super impactful. Some part of me wants to say they should just be available, but as long as one or two are easy to get , I think making them rewards for doing well in specific sections might be the best way to go, since it's minor enough that people who did poorly shouldn't miss it too badly. As far as the other question... I think I like the paperwork ideas, or just having Sheya tell you if you've unlocked new stuff when you talk to her? Also, holy damn that's a lot of switches XD And I enjoyed some of the scenes this update, especially the elves' threesome and Riala's dreamy scene.

Argo The Ratfolk

Thanks for the nice little update! There were a couple small bugs I noticed after testing out the unlocker, in addition to what has been reported already I noticed that Hilstara's Sexy Encouragement synergy with Qum listed it as a synergy with Yarra for some reason-additionally the flag for that event seems a bit wonky as well as I can't seem to trigger it again as I was trying to retrace my steps back to that point again. I noticed that after chatting with Balia about a lab upgrade two of her spawn in the area. Other than that great work!

DukeLeto7

Errata: Simon addresses Stark as "Starke". In the threesome, Lynine tears Lynine's robe from top to bottom. Context suggests that it should be Orilise's robe. In testing, Megail has no message when prompted about the ProN level. There's no indication as to where Hilstara is outside of the testing mode. Obviously she can't be in the quest list because she may be out for the long haul, but some indication on where she will be found in conversation might be nice. Some indication on the status of Janine and Yhilin may also be helpful, even if we are obviously heading back there soon. Has that mage guy blocking the exit to the Yhilin bedroom been standing there the WHOLE YEAR?

Dubsington

Suggestions: 1) Could the announcements be written in something analogous to the ledger? That's a pretty handy, yet unobtrusive, interface. You could also add a book on a pedestal at the HQ that you could interact with to pull it up as well (hey, that's a good idea for the ledger too). 2) Yes! Gamers are as bad as soldiers about getting a bit of colored ribbon. That's a very rewarding thing, although admittedly less so in a singleplayer game than in a MMORPG.

DukeLeto7

Oh yes, some orcs for hitting in the training yard to test the new techniques might be good too.

Seil

The broom joke is just like a gift that keeps on giving. I laughed like a madman there. Qum's Pretty Lance is not displayed in her skills menu,

Decanter

1) Asking the steward seems like a good way to me. Some sort of notice inbox that gets visibly full when something new unlocks might also work. 2) I don't feel banners should be unlocked, purchased, or otherwise gated. I don't see that any of these banners can be connected to accomplishments in a way that makes sense to me, and our options in other categories are not so plentiful. Besides, if I'm always getting notified that I've unlocked a random banner I'm not going to be excited about unlocking things.

DukeLeto7

Just read through the War of Lust story on Literotica as part of my mad quest to pry out added back story. I noticed one oddity. In Simon's internal monologue, he thinks about Wynn: "There was Wynn, of course, but she had left for Zirantia before he went on assignment." Unless I'm mistaken, Zirantia does not exist until after Wendis' death, and the region was not called Zirantia prior to that point.

Phil

It is as I had feared: Need way more ProN... *sigh* Not doing another replay. Just yet. Love the ledger etc. as book pedestals in front of the throne idea mentioned above and don't see much value in being able to unlock banners.

Dream Fractal

Noticed a few glitches: 1. Grammar error during the opening sex scene: When Simon cums, it should be "throbbed" rather than "throbbing". 2. In room customization, if you turn the carpets black from red in the preview, the red carpet customization icon turns black as well. 3. When I first visited the training grounds, there was one Balia, who asked me to convert an empty room into an orc repair room. Later, after visiting Balia downstairs (not sure if that's relevant), I returned to the training grounds to find there were now two Balias, standing back to back. The first Balia asks if I have the resources to convert the empty room into an orc repair room (I do not, I'm broke). The second Balia is unreachable to me, so I do not know what she has to say. 4. Qum’s new synergy with Robin hasn’t appeared in Qum's skills list after the scene of them talking in the training grounds. (Aside: You mention 9 new synergies. The training grounds in my file has 2: Robin + Yarra and Robin + Qum. How are they unlocked?) That's it for glitches. The base customization is fun. Though I have a hard time imagining Simon caring much for thrones. If he was picking out a throne for "The Doom King" he might pick something imposing. But just for himself in his private palace? Any old chair or couch would do and anything gaudy seems out of character. If anything, I feel like he'd prefer a couch or loveseat of some kind so he could snuggle with his harem.

Ripe

Playing with various customizations will be interesting... almost as much as unlocking all of those options. Also, considering we have a time jump of a full year I'm guessing we'll get to see profits from our investments once we find Megail (since we'll need ProN to improve our base).

Bladestorm

Looks, like I need to get more ProN, ugh I can never have enough it seems, anyway I enjoy the customization base, nice to have my own type of castle. I am glad to see the unsuccubi as guards shows how deep their appreciation towards simon are and a good choice due to the position of the castle. To let you know if there something new you can add that to the stewardess letting us know if there something new. The Banners probably tied as unlockables. I found bugs such as hilstara not being there, Two Balia at her potion location where I have to spend ProN for her. Huh I was going to say I could walk on top of the wall at the entrance left of the kitchen but looks like when I change walls it fixed it. I'am glad about Yarra fascination for Pools, been a long time coming, but those are what I've found. Overall, I enjoyed this small update and the path this is going for the base. Can't wait for more like always. Thank you for doing this Sierra Lee.

Bladestorm

Also, forgot to mention Brooms, the Enterprise seems to be expanding. Always good to see the broom joke, never gets old for me.

Darthjake

On the floor with the pools, Iris shows up listed as "Aka"

Hypo Soc

Noticed a bug in the customization area. When you change the carpet and select, room preview, it changes the carpet swap of not just the preview, but also the default carpet button.

Samshit

If Hilstara was injured in the past, the script when you talk with her and she say she recover, this script wont diseapear and the sprite of Hilstara is still here.

werewindle

Yay, I *finally* unlocked the Lynine/Orilise threesome! Which probably shouldn't be possible, because Lynine is off to the Chalice States? I'm sure my request to disable a sex scene because continuity reasons will be met with wide fan support.

Desertopa

Will give more feedback when I play further, but the first thing I noticed that you should probably know about is that while I was talking to Sheya, Lucy walked down onto the right wing of the walls in the throne room, and started walking over the tops of the walls. Whatever's causing the passability issue only seems to exist on that side, and I suspect most players wouldn't find out they can walk up there by accident, but it looks pretty silly if you stumble on it.

Lamsey

The customisation options are nifty. I went with a green and gold scheme in honour of Simon's original armour. The rooms seem quite bare, which makes sense since the place isn't fully up and running yet, but I think it could stand to have some food being prepared in the kitchen or some papers/books scattered on tables, to give a sense of habitation. Maybe the 'moving in' theme could be reinforced by having some mess around, e.g. piles of books being unpacked in the library (with Orilise getting sidetracked reading them as she puts them onto the shelves), or crates of crystals etc in the lab. In terms of communicating to the player that things have been unlocked, I'd start with why they've become unlocked. Things like Simon's level might be the underlying mechanics, but there should be a logical in-game justification for something becoming available, e.g. getting enough respect that more high-end merchants are willing to trade with us, or improved relations with other countries providing access to certain goods. Once you've worked out the in-world justification, the means of communicating it will become more obvious (e.g. messages from castle staff, letters from correspondents). I like the earlier-suggested idea of having an inbox somewhere for Simon to read messages which have arrived whilst he was away. I think there might be a slight danger in making things like banners gated, in that players might be blocked from making certain choices (e.g. colour coordination) by unrelated events elsewhere. For example, I'd be irritated if I couldn't have the green-and-gold banner to match my carpets, just because I didn't fulfil some arbitrary requirement. On the other hand, some of those statues should definitely only become available after a visit from a certain succubus last seen in Rodak... One obvious way to reward accomplishments would be to have a trophy cabinet (or more likely room, given the limitations of only being able to inspect things as small as one map tile), which could fill out with gifts or mementos over time. Some of these could be unavoidable rewards for main story events, thereby ensuring that everyone gets at least something, whilst others could be gated. I suspect it's going to be something of a dilemma to strike a balance between improving the castle and making investments. Then again, maybe not - these siege preparations sound a bit ominous. I didn't expect the sexual meeting room to be so kinky. I was imagining something more on the comfy, decadent side - plush cushions, chaises longues, etc. I've no idea how a meeting could be conducted in stocks and whatever those other things are. Maybe I'm just thinking like a human o_O Ralke's quest to set up message-board quests is adorably hilarious. And the ever-more-subtle broom references - well, it goes without saying (literally in this case). I'm also enjoying the emergence of Vhala's dry sense of humour. Typoes/bugs I found in v0.30.1: Not sure if this is just a side-effect of the unlocker, but it's possible to have two Orcents on screen simultaneously (I assume Trin is not involved :-P): <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/d2gxqujt6mm8r5p/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2017.08.05.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/d2gxqujt6mm8r5p/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2017.08.05.png?dl=0</a> If either or both were moved elsewhere in the same rooms, that could be avoided (e.g. Orcent could be looking at some paperwork on a table in the east meeting room, rather than lurking in the corner). Highly subjective, but 'pick one out' would read more naturally to me than 'pick out one': <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/n7bag4fci1d8lmt/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2010.02.05.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/n7bag4fci1d8lmt/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2010.02.05.png?dl=0</a> contain -> contains: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/yg82j4m3b3e8t37/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2010.05.45.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/yg82j4m3b3e8t37/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2010.05.45.png?dl=0</a> Stray comma: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/z7i298nocfa2yhp/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2016.46.52.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/z7i298nocfa2yhp/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2016.46.52.png?dl=0</a> Misplaced 'Relationship' (should be before '89'): <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/i3tofms8qzfxb0j/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2017.00.01.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/i3tofms8qzfxb0j/Screenshot%202017-10-29%2017.00.01.png?dl=0</a>

I also think that the player will probably get the most out of the mechanic if they get some kind of notification about the in-world reason for new stuff being unlocked. But I think it's also best if the player doesn't have to wander around wondering who they have to talk to to get notifications for which new addition, so it may be best if all the notifications come through one person. Perhaps all the updates could come through one character, but they could convey messages from other characters, like the messages in the communication sphere in Simon's room in the palace in Yhilin.

Sycrus

Very nice update. I had started a new playthrough from scratch after finishing Chapter III for thefirst time, and was just wrapping up the 3rd Arclent War again when it came as a nice surprise. As I was playing, I took a few notes, and made two short lists. One for a few small typos I noticed, and another for some thoughts I had as I played. First, the typos: 1) When first recruiting Trin, Simon says "Trin, I want the exact details of your CONTACT." instead of "contract". <a href="https://imgur.com/a/I5cUv" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/I5cUv</a> 2) When approaching Varias's hideout's trapped entrance, he then says: "...I don't see any explosives, but THE I trust the elves' eyes are better than mine." An extra "the" before the "I". <a href="https://imgur.com/a/lcpZU" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/lcpZU</a> 3) Don't know if this is a really a typo or intended, but decided to point it out. During the Order of Thaumaturgy Trial of Knowledge, the tester says: "That's correct. Plenty of barbarian MAGICS are strong enough, but the Order only deals with those who are also knowledgeable." Should it be "magicians"? <a href="https://imgur.com/a/F7aDL" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/F7aDL</a> 4) Talking to Allue and Alluon during the Heat Potion Investigation quest, Yarra will say: "Unsuccessfully? I would have thought the Divine Claw woud have the ABLITY to investigate anyone." instead of "ability". <a href="https://imgur.com/a/OS7Ia" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/OS7Ia</a> 5) Finally, when talking to Sarai after beating the Incubus Something, Simon again: "A shocking DERILECTION of your evangelical duties." instead of "dereliction". <a href="https://imgur.com/a/2y1Ph" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/2y1Ph</a> As for my thoughts and musings... A) Waaay back in the Merchant Camp, during the slaver trap, when you come to rescue Qum, she'll angrily ask Simon to help her kill "these dumb guys". <a href="https://imgur.com/a/msLpw" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://imgur.com/a/msLpw</a> To me, this sounds disturbingly out of character for the world's sweetest succubus. You know your characters best, but this line is from a really early version of the game, and "characterization marches on", as they say. I'd like to humbly suggest some form of revision to it. Maybe Qum could be just happy that Simon arrived for her. Of course, you could then proceed to kill the "dumb guys" anyway, what with being evil slavers, and all that. B) This one might be just my lack of attention but, during the Chapter 2 march back to Feroholm, after getting to the Feroholm region itself, I couldn't find any way to revisit the party camp short from wasting time getting back to the Stineford region. This means that, if you don't fuck Altina immediately, the only way to fix her (without backtracking) is during the camp scene in the end of the trek, or in the IK ruins after that, both of which happen after recruiting Varia. However, if you bring a still "unfixed" Altina to Delgar Forest, her dialogue seems to indicate Simon has already healed her. I don't know if this apparent inconsistency merits attention, but decided to mention it, anyway. C) During the trade talks for the Ghenalon-Yhilin-Orgasmic Empire Airlines, Simon's line about the Doom King most definitely being content with Yhilin and clearly not intending on any more conquests sounds so forced, Queen Fheliel's pause after his answer seems just like someone saying "Yeah, suuure..." Was that intentional, or some kind of blunder by Simon? Or is there something I'm not getting here? Well... that's it. Again, this is an awesome game, and I'm looking forward to see what happens next!

DukeLeto7

Maybe you could have the messages on new goodies delivered by the creepy clown from the 2nd floor of the goblin guy's house in Ouroboros. Then have Trin set him on fire.

Can't Wait

Awesome as always. I would like to note that my quest log has the last two objectives of Conquerer still listed as "spoiler" even though they're marked green for complete. That seems... odd. Also, the jump ahead one year felt a slight bit jarring. It might have been nice to throw in a few one to two line "montage" style scenes expressing different peoples actions and the passage of time and all that jazz. Though I'm playing right from my v29 save so I'm not sure how that would mesh with the outro sequence of chapter 3 anyways.

Argenten

I played through the war again and stark did not show up despite having a body outside the city to repel the unsucubi assault

Moritz

Let's be actually happy, that episodic releases are actually working due to how the RPG Makers are built. Going back to an old save and replaying some parts is not a big deal comparing to losing all save data once a new release or patch hits the game.

Jan Dietrich

Hmmm not sure wether it is worth to download the fixed version again instead of just waiting for the next update. My connection is quite fast, but still...

Jan Dietrich

I've got a minor bug for you: Since i have a save with a dominated Varia , i tried and found that the on-demand sex scenes "Doggie" and "Cowgirl" are swapped with each other.

Ravellon

So: 1) EDIT: a lore friendly blurb of dialogue with the relevant character for when you actually get the thing, a notice board with two visual states (there are new things or there aren't) and a short description for every thing in the control room that tell the player where they came from and what they signify. 2) Banners for achievements seems a noice touch. They are minor things, so not getting one of them is insignificant but having a visual indication of how well I did so far seems like an excellent thing to have

Aaron Scott

Great job with the update! I really like having castle upgrades as an investment opportunity, and it's nice to see each character contribute something in that way. I'm also interested in seeing the library fill up. Any chance that we could get additional lore as new books are added? I'm one of those people with a book fetish.

MadChemist19

Love the update. I was wondering if the castle upgrades will also give RP points when you do them? It was a thoughtful touch to have some unsuccubi survivors as guards, hope that develops more as the story progresses. Wondering if there'll be a siege at some point, what with all the defences. Think there's a slight bug with Iris' info when you talk to her, it says Relationship: Personal Assistant, instead of Relationship: [number] as with everyone else.

Moritz

All in all I am glad I supported you here. Pretty new to all of this, but I am glad, there's such a steady stream of communication. I am actually not really playing your game so much for the sex scenes to be honest, I am hooked to the world building you did. As a GM for several different settings I truly appreciate your fresh take on the HEDO-fantasy-tropes (though in this case it's more HEDOS, I guess ;) ) Outstanding worldbuilding so far! Now I have you know, that I am quite aware of the whole "tower" subtext that's in the writing, but I am quite befuddled to see them talking about accessing said "tower" even though that hasn't been quite part of their plot so far. Is this a bug where the wrong text blocks are displayed for Robin etc. or did you not implement some story elements that are due to be set before Simon acquires the castle?

genericname12345

Wasn't sure where to post this question so I'll just tack it on here: Will there ever be something like a sequel to Ouroboros? Or has that question already been answered?

Moritz

Coming from a completely different idea, I cannot stop hearing Implevon the Third in my head as if he would been spoken by John Cleese. Has actually any RPG Maker game ever featured voice acting?

Silver

Finally got to pledging to you , even though I was lurking in the shadows for quite some time now. 1) You could make Simon receive blueprints/design items of the unlockables (though I don't know how much work it would take) , maybe some of them could be a drop from an optional boss or a reward from a character that you help. 2)Do not really see the appeal of the banners as a ranking system, as they do not contribute much even aesthetically, walls could be great for that (made of bronze, silver or gold). I am going to assume characters not disappearing after their event is an early version thing...so my question lies with the high unsuccubus guard: Did you put the option to tell her to change location for a exhibitionist scene or just to actually preserve the harem' privacy.

Shifter

Just one short question: can we finish Order of Thaumaturgy trials in chapter 4 if we didn't do it before?
