Well, things have been busy! Desecration of Wings managed to trend on Steam in a few regions, if not globally. So all of you who supported the game in many ways - it had an effect! Thank you very much. ^-^ We'll see how long it can keep up and if reviews can lead to healthy continuing sales as they come in.

I won't lie, though, the release has thrown me off a little. Both because it sucked up a lot of time and just getting me into a different gear. I was planning to try to get Ouroboros out on Steam too, but I think I'll leave it at the page for now:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/822830/Ouroboros/

There were promotional reasons to try to rush it out, but even though that launch won't be as big, I'm going to put it off a little. There's other stuff I think is more important to focus on.

Another link that may interest you; I was interviewed on a NSFW website:

So yeah, what I hope to do next is focus on core creative work without letting the Steam release drop entirely. That will include the political stuff for TLS - I hope people aren't expecting a repeat of the Ardford Summit (I'm going for something different) but I do hope it will be satisfying when it eventually comes out.

Anyway, I will be doing less talking and more working. Thanks again to everyone for supporting me!

More beard husbando is always good. BELIEVE IN ME WHO BELIEVES IN YOU SIERRA!

"With 25 hours of gameplay so far" We got a speedrunner over here.

Kobold Lad

Right? My last full run was 50 to 60 hours.

Frosty1979

First playthrough, where I go in blind, stands at 74hours. 55 hours on my "perfect" playthrough. No idea how anyone can play through the current content in 25 hours without skipping most of the dialogue and probably all side quests.

Decanter

I think if it were too similar to the summit I'd be disappointed anyway.

Lord Forte Games

Haha, my thought also. My current game is relatively optimized and rushing through stuff I'd already done/no need to explore since I knew where stuff was and is still at 43 hours. though I wonder if they weren't just taking the number posted somewhere else? Technically the TLS page on Sierra's blog still says 10+ and the front page of Patreon says 25+, so... being cynical, I kinda doubt the interviewer actually played, haha. Fun interview to read, in any case.

Perhaps Kinky has been the victim of relativistic time dilation. He might, for example, have left his watch on a bus that subsequently traveled at 90.9% of the speed of light for the duration of a 60 hour TLS binge, and it was then returned to him by David Tennant as is, confusing him into thinking he had only experienced 25 hours in his own reference frame. Or perhaps he has a morbidly obese neighbor in the apartment next door with a mass equal to a few multiples of that of the moon, and his wall clock is located closer to the presumably stationary neighbor than his PC. But I think the most likely explanation is that he read the description of the game on the overview page of this very Patreon page, which describes TLS as 25 hours, and never played it at all. Note also that the wiki front page says 20 and the TLS blog says 10. Keeping any of those numbers up to date hasn't been a top priority.

Bladestorm

that man is a fast player at 25 hours lol, but great to hear your getting more publicity. Got to agree with decanter if it was too similar I would be disappointed too, looking forward to what is coming though.

I spent about that much time calculating and recalculating the investments and the summit :D

Desecration of Wings is already in IGG, that sucks :(

sierralee

Yeah, everything gets pirated pretty fast. =/ I don't like it, but the only options would mainly inconvenience real fans.

Greentext Guy

Might I suggest personally visiting places like /aco/'s weg general or whatever 8chan has and tossing links to discounted or free versions there? Most of the people there are going to be waiting for someone to toss up a download link instead of buying or supporting anyways and engaging with an audience might help get more goodwill and support.

Ver Greeneyes

It sucks but it's inevitable. Some percentage of the people pirating it will probably feel guilty and buy it eventually since it's a good game, and some percentage of the people pirating it would never have bought it regardless (either due to financial reasons or otherwise) but might still tell their friends if they enjoyed it. Cracking down with various schemes is usually ineffective and tends to make people feel less guilty about pirating in the first place. It's rough, especially if the percentage of pirated copies is high, but it is what it is.

I'd hate to see you have to jump through all the same hoops you went through for Desecration of Wings all over again, but my gut feeling is that it's probably worthwhile to release Ouroboros on Steam. I think that it's not just a great game, it's probably the most accessible introduction to your work you've made so far for people who're interested in RPGs. Also, the narrative suffers less from censorship than it does in DoW or TLS, making it a good boarding point for people who don't want to patch adult content into their games.

sierralee

I'm not confident in how Ouroboros will be received on Steam, but I do intend to release it there! And you're correct, it has a premise that isn't inextricably adult, which may be a benefit. So I'll be moving forward with it, just not right away. TLS release first.

Jan Dietrich

Yeah, i've got 3 complete walkthroughs so far and spent at least 180+ Hours on completing everything including min-maxing my characters and investments. I need this new update to feel alive again. Lel, as if. But i'm still looking forward to binge-play TLS again, though.
