As usual, you can get it at the blog:

https://the-last-sovereign.blogspot.com/2018/05/tls-0342-public-release.html

TLS 0.34.2

 - The threshold for Dari has been lowered somewhat.

 - There is now an event to upgrade Hilstara's Helm at the succubus armorer, if you funded her. I don't want to go overboard with upgrades like this, but patrons made some good suggestions on this one.

 - There are conversations on the statues in the new dungeon. I had meant to include these earlier but they got lost in the shuffle.

 - More bugfixes and polishing.

KNOWN BUG: After uploading, I noticed that the upgrade is bugged such that you can end up with two copies of Hilstara's Helm. Since only she can equip it and it can't be sold, I think this is harmless. It's fixed on my end, but I didn't want to delay the release to reupload.

Meanwhile,  I did an interview with a patron, feel free to check it out here:

See you in an update post on Sunday!

Thanks for the shoutout! Smart move letting us buff Hilstara's helmet too.

Sierra, love your stuff but there is one thing that ever since I started playing ch: 4 makes me wanna kill myself... I didn't say anything until now because I don't have an idea on how to resolve this issue but... Some times during the advance of time, some people "around the world" have new things to say, since I am a perfectionist, I tend to revisit a lot and I cannot help but feel very upset when I advance time and forget to talk to someone(And they in fact did have an event)... So... Is there a way perhaps on showing "which part of the map" have new events? Maybe a switch or a glow...? I am complaning but I really don't have a good idea on how to resolve that.

Bladestorm

Upgrades you say well guess it times to dive back in, and look at some statues.

sierralee

There was just a discussion of this, but unfortunately in the $5 thread. Basically, NPCs around the world are not going to get a bunch of new dialogue every single iteration. They will change if the player has taken actions - for example, investing enough in Tak'Kan will lead you to see changes around there. If new events or opportunities appear, especially if they given the player an advantage, I will try to signpost them in some way.

DukeLeto7

Talking to the SL avatar who offers quest list fixes prior to meeting Xerces causes the Arbiter quest to get a line item on the Fucklord's Incursions prematurely. (Simon needs to get off the Aramite Spice... In this universe we don't violate the Laws of Causality, Young Man!)

DukeLeto7

Also... "2 Ouroboros 2 Furious"... Nice...

Censuur

Really like the conversations with Orcent, and with Kara there's now another big development you could potentially completely miss. The situation between them resolved nicely, but now I can't help but wonder what would happen if Kara dies. Good grief trying to get everything in this game is going to give it a ton of replayability. I'm also wondering if the Dari choice is final, or if it's just what you prioritize first.

DukeLeto7

In the Dari transformation scene, Qum's sprite has been added, but Simon spawns over her.

sierralee

True. I'll fix it on my end, but otherwise just shake my fist in the general direction of the quest journal.

sierralee

If Kara dies, that plot line simply doesn't occur. As for Dari, the choice now will determine which version of her you see for the rest of the game.

sierralee

Dangit, should have remembered that. Fixed, though now the group is unbalanced. =/

DukeLeto7

Vhala seems like a good choice for moral support, and can't not be available like the more obvious Wynn or Altina. Another option might be Trin.

sierralee

I like the idea of Vhala being there a lot!

DukeLeto7

Geometric thinking. :D

Iamdexter

A war against Estaven is coming but I don't know what to do for preparation. Can't wait for the next update!

EG Douglas

So curing Dari now gives 5 RP, which is nice. But at 78, she still isn't high enough to join my harem [cries] Oh my God, I'm going to have to go back and replay so muuuuch...

Frosty1979

I have a question concerning the Yhilin bank. In my playthrough Yhilin is flourishing. At the bank they even say that business prospects look very good. Still the Yhilin bank is the worst performing bank of all the banks. So will this stay this way? If yes, is there a logical story reason for that I just don't see?

Bladestorm

I feel your pain everytime I find that I invested poorly. (looks at spreadsheets) damn you....

Rachnera

Thinking about it, how are Simon's assets in Ardford still part of the Ledger in Chapter 4? Near the end of Chapter 3, both the Church and representatives from the Crown say they tracked down Dargai's money, and want him to go to hell as soon as the war is over. But, somehow, they take no action to seize everything he owns in Ardford once things have calmed down.

DukeLeto7

They say that they've worked out that Simon = Dargai and that they won't allow him to manipulate them any more. That's not the same as confiscating his Ardan assets. Governments tend to be gun shy about confiscating the assets of rich people, even if they have committed crimes (which isn't necessarily the case with Simon) even if they're foreigners. It makes other rich people nervous. Especially when those foreigners are active military allies with large numbers of troops inside their borders. The Feroholm house probably got yanked for unpaid rent or property tax, and Simon could probably have contested that if he wanted.

Lamsey

They probably don't want to antagonise the Doom King, either...

sierralee

It has to do with a complex set of factors. On the game end, it's partially a balance thing because the Yhilini bank can be acquired (and give profits) so much earlier. On the story end, one potential justification is that the other banks (especially Stineford) are well-positioned to be making a lot of new profits with all the trade between new nations.

DukeLeto7

OK, now when you complete your little chat with the Anak, a line item with no description appears in the Arbiter quest, but this is fixed by talking to the SL avatar...

sierralee

Only for old saves... but since that's most of them, I should probably just get used to always including a fix whenever there's a new objective. Got it, thanks!

onepot

Knowing Megail, I just assumed she organized everything in a way that it can't be backtracked to him so easily.

Sierra, you'd considered to lower the Chalice States points requirement for Iris' max RP conversation. Did you, or is it still 50?

WaxerRed

I invested in the Givini Tunnels in this iteration of Pron, but it does not appear in the Ledger.

Frosty1979

Hmm wasn't Simon's reputation though a major point for him being allowed to invest into the Ardan bank? Didn't get the sense that there was anything hidden about his involvement. I personally go with the logic that Ardford is too weak to do such an hostile act as stripping Simon of his local assets.

Frosty1979

Dear Sierra, I get the for game balance reason, since the Yhilin bank investment helps also with the Yhilin war. Raising the Ivalan bank's profit a bit to give an incentive to invest in it instead is understandable. Still I think you reduced the Yhilin bank income too much (or well gave the others too much profit ;) ). If profits stay like this until the big chapter showdown, the total profit over the same amount of time will be 1050k Pron for a 450k investment in the Yhilin bank; Ardan bank will be 1950k for 300-400k investment; Ivalan bank 1475k for 450k. Givini bank with two rounds less would still outperform Yhilin with 1200k Pron for a 350k investment and Stineford would get already close with 960k for 400k. So my suggestion would be to give an incentive for investing in the Yhilin bank too. Maybe some boost if you achieved certain things in Yhilin like e.g. have Yhilin flourishing, invested in airships, etc.. ?

sierralee

Intended to... but did not. =/ It will be 40 in the 0.34.3 I intend to put out in time.

sierralee

Looks like an oversight. Fixed, thanks!

onepot

Meh. For one thing, investments aren't about ProN returns only, but also give boosts to RP and hidden stats, so if you wanna compare, you need to take these into account. Secondly, Yhilin Bank already is pretty much a no-brainer for early investments already. It's quite helpful in the early stages of the game and I don't see a problem if it gets less useful in the later game. Aside from that, some investments simply are 'better' than others, which is totally fine by me. Otherwise choosing between them would become meaningless. TLDR: I'm fine the way it is now.

onepot

Alright, thanks! :)

onepot

Whoops. Once again I mixed something up, namely the very early investment for 25k and the later Core Lenders investment. Apologies. Anyways, I'm still very invested in the core of my post. (:

Frosty1979

Like you already noticed, you had the first investment mixed up with the core investment. Also of course investments can be better or worse. When we talk about the Yhilin bank it seems that it initially was a clearly superior choice over the Ivalan bank. It seemed to counter that imbalance Ivalan bank got some boosts, which imho make investing in the Ivalan bank the clearly better choice now, instead of it just being a valid alternative. I also think this is not what Sierra intended initially. Therefore I think it's justified to boost the Yhilin bank somewhat. Anyway, it's not a serious big issue. Just a minor think which I feel could be tweaked a little.

sierralee

I do hear your points. There's an additional factor involved: if I change the income of past iterations, it will force players to replay. However, I will seriously consider boosts to the Yhilini bank based on future events.

sierralee

Yeah, they don't want to strip his assets because Simon has some strong cards to play in retaliation. Control of one of their newest trading partners in the form of New Givini, for example, and of course Yhilin as well. Not to mention his current military force. If Simon wanted to contest his banning from Ardford, he could do that too. But he's made the Doom King take a very relaxed approach to controlling things in order to encourage people to accept the new nations, and that includes obeying their ban. Many Ardans recognize that as a peace offering, so they're not inclined to poke the bear. Some might want that, but cooler heads have prevailed.

Frosty1979

I really hope you will or I will have to replay chapter 3 for my min/max playthrough. ;)

Decanter

This is belated, but I'm quite sure "all its own" is correct usage, even if valid alternative phrasings exist.

Samuel Edwards

Has anyone else been experiencing a lag spike in recent versions? I'm getting a lot more stuttering and jumpiness than I used on, even just walking around or talking to people. I haven't played since... the public v42, I think? So it's maybe not the most recent update that's responsible, but it's noticeably worse than a few versions ago. Just thought I'd check to see if anyone's having the same problem or knows of a solution.

Darthjake

Might be the parralex maps is that is what is being used. A few times on these games (not TLS as of yet), I have to restart my 'puter to get it to stop acting wonky.

Darthjake

FYI, I just feel that the fight for Uyae's group in the upper left hand corner is waaay to much rng. I finally managed to beat them, after 5 loads, not as bad as when I first fought the concrete demon or the undead chosen to be sure, but that group of mobs hand Uyae and party shut down after the 1st turn usually.
