Multiple things going on.

TLS: 0.35.0 should be out in June, hopefully sooner rather than later. Currently finished progress is already a little larger than an average update, but this will be a big one.

Trading Cards: When it comes to game approval, Valve takes a week to get back to you with vague statements. When it comes to trading cards, they reply with long lists of specific changes within hours. It took a couple rounds, but the trading cards for Crimson Gray were finally approved. Will this make a real difference? No idea, but it can't hurt and it's good to check off the list.

Stress Relief Project: Finally, it's time for me to announce this to all patrons. It's actually fairly close to a build that I'd show people, but I've been working on other things too much to finish it. But you can see the completed intro sequence below:

The game is an "anti-runner" - you control the objects trying to hit Runman in each level. Probably easier to see than to describe, so that will happen later. I really need to think of a non-placeholder title, though. Since this will be competing in the over-saturated casual market, it probably needs to be a name that describes the premise. That will end up sounding overly blunt, but subtlety wins you nothing in this case.

Something like "Stop the Runner" or "Don't Save the Princess" or another title along those lines. I haven't thought of anything I'm satisfied with, so I will need to keep thinking. Suggestions very welcome.

Anyway, back to work!

Pretty cute stuff! I'm looking forward to it.

Hero stopper

Hund

How about "Cock-Blocker Blocker"?

Sylvus

That face in the last panel is so well done. 10/10 frustration conveyed.

Censuur

I like "Don't save the princess", the title at least seems intriguing enough to draw some attention

sierralee

Glad you like the idea! It's going to be hard to find the perfect title, but yeah, it needs to be something that stands out and communicates something. Thanks for the suggestion!

sierralee

Haha, good. ^-^ I wanted things to be clear on facial expressions alone.

sierralee

I do think the title has some strengths. Checking online, the title seems to have been used by a number of flash games, but I could probably outrank those fairly quickly.

DukeLeto7

Well, you're a braver person than I am, walking directly up to Nintendo's legal department, punching it on the nose, and then running away going "Whoop whoop whoop whoop!!!" :p I'd ask why all the citizens of NOT MUSHROOM KINGDOM are wearing boots on their heads, but I suspect the answer would be the Spike Milligan "It fits that's why!" Something along the lines of "Damned, Stupid Plumbers..." would be my contribution. Given the complexity of the 3AW updates, no one is going to complain if the 0.35 update is a bit late, since it's another war.

Lord Forte Games

I feel like some "shoe on the other foot" joke/pun could be good for a title, though nothing specific occurs to me offhand... Just thought I'd throw it out there in case the thought was of any use. Looking forward to the TLS!

sierralee

It is a deeply meaningful cultural tradition how dare you. The next update wasn't intended to be like the 3AW updates, but it's ending up more that way than I had originally intended. But it has some of everything, so I hope it will be satisfying once completed.

sierralee

Haha, thanks for the suggestion.

Dream Fractal

The prologue is very funny. The artist did a fantastic job of illustrating it.

WaxerRed

Just plain "Anti-runner" seems like a catchy name. Or maybe "Stop Runman"

Leveler All

Her face made me laugh a little, she must be so anoyed by this point, im curios how long this one will be? is fun to see you try different thing.s

Michael Majere

All I could think of was this horrible song when I read "Kingdom of Shoes" lol

sierralee

Not very long. Planning this one as a lighter game overall.

sierralee

Haha, consider it the national anthem of the Kingdom of Shoes.

Greentext Guy

Out of curiosity, what changes did you need to make the cards? Were your first submissions too lewd?

Dubsington

Something that describes the game, and yet tweaked a bit so ties a bit into the the general movie trend of banning damsels-in-distress. I don't have an grrrrreat ideas, but I'm thinking along these lines.... (No Need To) Save The Princess Damsel's Distress Damsel In Depress

WaxerRed

Dang, those are pretty good.

SEEQYR

Anti-Runner is already a pretty well-played Flash game that's been out for like 5 years.

SEEQYR

Good to hear. I'm actually leaning more to the side of "Foul Play" rather than something relating to princesses (although this one doesn't seem to have chickens or football, so the name's probably out...), since unfortunately using a "damsel" name or "princess" name might prejudice intended audience into it seeming to be "female-oriented". Something with a strong verb is definitely in the cards. ...Pun not intended. It really seems to me like the ending sequence of Braid too! Also, nitpicky, nitpicky, since I'm replaying TLS now... in Yarra's Path in v.34, the Empress mentions that "they've given us all hovels, but yours are more spare than most." I'm assuming you mean "sparse" here? Also, another thing which I'm not sure of an easy fix for... if you play Megail's path after Aka's, and Trin is tapped out from Aka's path, then Trin will mention that she's out of copies. Despite the fact that the early part of Megail's route happens *before* Trin starts copying people. So a bit of an immersion break. Or maybe it just needs a dialogue change about "needing to save space for Aka" or whatever.

SEEQYR

I can totally see the first one as a logo! "Save The Princess" as a Zelda-ish logo title, with a scribbled out, but fancy calligraphy version, of "No Need To".

Argenten

Looks like a lot of fun and I'd go with the title of "Running Gag." for many reasons

sierralee

No, it was things like "reduce the brightness on all the backgrounds by 30%" or "Emotes cannot have square edges and must be edited on the pixel level." I have heard other devs claim they had submissions rejected for lewdness, but don't have any facts on the situation myself.

sierralee

Those latter two are clever! My concern would be that people not paying much attention might see what they expected instead of what was written, though any title would hopefully be aided by the main art.

sierralee

Having a strong verb and making sure the game genre is communicated are two good points. Whatever we choose should be assisted by the main art, at least. I did actually mean "spare", but you have to go all the way down to definition #16 to get the one I intended, so maybe it wasn't the best word choice: http://www.dictionary.com/browse/spare?s=t The thing regarding Megail and Aka's path is the kind of minor point I do try to correct. I'm afraid I don't remember how many instances of this there are and where exactly they are, though. While I'm still trying to focus on the next update, don't think I'll be able to fix this one.

sierralee

Oh, I hadn't considered that angle at all, good addition!

SEEQYR

I've only run into that one post-Aka's Path, but admittedly I've only done the routes in one order: Aka-Yarra-Megail. I suspect it's the only instance of that particular problem, though, because Yarra doesn't wander into Yhilin at all during her route, and obviously Aka makes use of Trin. I'll need to re-test to see if the same problem pops up if you do Megail's Route before Aka's...though I probably won't get to that for a while since I'd really like to finish v.34 before .35 comes out. ...I think the definition of "sparse" and that definition of "spare" are really, really close. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/sparse?s=t So unless "spare" has a symbolic meaning...?

Panslothda

How bout reverse super mario :p

sierralee

Haha, I think I'd better not go that far. XP

Bladestorm

Okay this seems like a funny parody game I can get behind, the real story of how the princess feels, which one you ask, you know.....

DukeLeto7

FYI, the "Why is he wearing his boot on his head?"/"It fits. that's why!" joke is from an episode of Spike Milligan's 50s' BBC radio show "The Goon Show": "The Dreaded Batter Pudding Hurler of Bexhill-on-Sea". The context is a local policeman is investigating a rash of batter pudding hurlings in Sussex in 1941, and his only clue is an army boot, which leads him to investigate the local artillery regiment for one booted men. The entire regiment are barefoot except for one idiot wearing a boot on his head... Milligan was a big influence on the Pythons (he was the dude who's left standing after the Holy Sandal/Holy Gourd argument in "Life of Brian") and the show was how Peter Sellers' career got started. It might be your cup of tea.

DukeLeto7

Yes it symbolically means that SL has a command of vocabulary sufficient to know at least 16 usages of the word "spare"...

SEEQYR

=P Spare me, please, I plead guilty....~

DukeLeto7

I opened a save I had from the start of Megail's Path with with Aka's Path completed (and Trin Maxed Out), and I can't replicate the error. Trin is loitering in the room the ambassador is supposed to move into at the start of Megail's Path and just reflects on her time with Simon. There are no places where Megail could request a copy be made either...

SEEQYR

Ah, see...I didn't copy the head scribe that Megail identifies (in the Yhilin Bank) in Aka's path - I copied the Clerk down in the Lower City instead. (Go me for reading the walkthrough wrong...) So the head scribe is wandering around the Yhilin Bank, at the front counter, and he triggers the weird message. I have a save right next to it, so I can screenshot the conversation if that's helpful.

DukeLeto7

Actually, that pretty much IDs the problem completely. The Head Clerk is slated to be removed after being zapped OR when the Reunion comes. SL just needs to add an event page removing him from Megail's Path and it's fixed. That is indeed, (don't take this the wrong way), an impressive feat of foolishness poking a hole in an event code presumed to be foolproof.

SEEQYR

Good! I hope that I can find more, this is exactly what Q&A is meant to do :P I just wonder how many people did it before me and just never felt the need to report it... I'm also glad that the graphical bug in the Ardford Cathedral got fixed as well, I spent a solid five minutes bumping into every pillar in the Cathedral to see if I could reproduce it...

Dubsington

"Sue the Shit Out of Me"

Markus S.

Haha. I wonder when you followed the allusions and would name the opposition of the princess saver by altering the first letter would that make the player the "funman"? :D

SEEQYR

Here's a few more, Duke...actually, is there a place I can direct these rather than into weird sections of the Patreon comments? Post-Yhilin Battle, Simon says, "Strong words for one of the first men to petition a conquerer." I'm aware of the similar definition of "conquerer" to "conqueror", but considering the chapter title, I'm just wondering if this spelling was intentional. Second - post Rick's father being found in Yhilin and the Rick's Family quest completing - again during the Govern Yhilin section - Aka still will randomly ask people if they're Rick's father. Despite meeting Rick's father already.

Kenzurith

"The Course of Shoe Love Never Did Run Smooth"

DukeLeto7

Unfortunately, this seems to be the best way to ensure SL finds out about them... Free dictionary says conquerer is an accepted alternate spelling. Presumably it varied historically depending on whether the Spelling Police wanted to emphasize the words Latin or French roots. (RPG Maker also has no spellchecker...) I guess Yhilin's Spelling Police died in the battle. I think the conversations with other potential Rick fathers might be intentional. (I can only find the one on the streets in the Merchant Quarter...) From Aka's perspective, just because they found one dude looking for a boy named Rick, that doesn't necessarily mean he's the one they're looking for, so checking the others is prudent. Once you've met the parent(s) at the Cathedral and gotten the reward, if any, that explanation no longer holds, of course.

SEEQYR

...Maybe we can make one on the forums at the TLS wiki? The spelling police sounds like something one of those nitpicky, nitpicky nobles might have enforced, so okay. There's that one in the Merchant Quarter, as well as one which links to a boy called Andy. Also post-quest completion. Edit: Another ... timeline...snuzzle? Post-Balia getting her seed orcs, she still comments about the orc down by the statues at the Outskirts of Yhilin. This is *significantly* past getting the seed orcs, by the way... this is after the visit to the Elven kingdoms.

SEEQYR

And now all I get is an image of a golden object of clothing being blown into Runman's face, which makes all the other objects done to trip him up twice as effective...

DukeLeto7

If you want to make a forum thread at the wiki dedicated to nitpickery, I don't think anyone will stand in your way. I think the orc headbutting statues is primarily comic relief, as is the orc fascinated with barrels in the square, so those dialogue trees are available after Balia "stops following" the party looking for seed orcs so that players who missed them can appreciate the humor.
