Looking at the content for the next TLS update, I'm glad people were open to the idea of 0.36.0 being a smaller update. It still won't be a weighty release, but there's a lot of scattered content of many types that I don't want to cram into the Stenai update, which will be big enough as it is.

The art you see above is fanart I received on my Steam page! It was drawn by Chobittsu, and though he doesn't do NSFW, I'll link his DeviantArt as thanks for the fun pic.

Speaking of Steam, the sequel to Crimson Gray has a page approved now:https://store.steampowered.com/app/894460/Crimson_Gray_Dusk_and_Dawn/

Most patrons probably qualify for a free copy, but if you don't or plan to get it on Steam, please add it to your wishlist. The hope is that the game can swim instead of sinking when launched, and hopefully getting the page up early will help with that. The first VN also passed 100 reviews, which doesn't benefit me directly but is nice. Hopefully my other games can pass the 50 review cutoff too, but they're moving slower.

Right now I'm in one of those situations where most things are doing well, but one thing isn't, and so of course you can only focus on that one thing. =/ I am trying to keep my nose to the grindstone, be productive, and hope things will turn out okay.

Not sure about the 0.36.0 release due to unknown variables, but expect concrete information about a release date instead of a long development period.

Looking forward to the fallout regarding Robin getting outed. Especially if Yarra finds out Riala knew or if Yarra finds out Robin wanted Simon before the shard was implanted. And Nalili reactions will definitely be good shit.

sierralee

No comment on specifics, but reactions to events were definitely one of things I wanted to let breathe instead of being stuck in a larger update. ^-^

Alexipaladin

I just signed up for my first ever patreon account because, at the risk of gushing, you've provided some of the highest quality rpgmaker experiences I have yet to encounter, erotic or otherwise. I am a little confused though. Was there an actual update to TLS today? And is that why the walkthrough page on the Wiki is down today? Also how does one go about prioritizing future wishlists? For instance, I signed up for the updates to TLS but also to gain access to the Oroburos full download.

sierralee

Hello! Welcome to Patreon, I'm very glad for your support! ^-^ Updates with names like "[Date] Update" are just my weekly progress reports. I talk about what's been done on the next update and provide other things of interest like the the links/picture in this one. When the newest version of TLS is released, it will be called "TLS 0.36.0 Released" - you should get the same notifications you got for this one. Afraid I don't know what might be the case with the TLS Wiki, as I don't manage it. But I don't think they take down pages when the game is released, so it's probably something else. For free copies of games, it's just low tech messaging. Your pledge gets you a copy of Ouroboros, so just send me a message asking for it! Likewise, next month you can just ask for whatever you want next.

Alexipaladin

Excellent! Thanks for the response. Once I figure out how to message, I'll certainly send you one... ;) And I don't know what's going on with the Wiki. As near as I can figure, its just the walkthrough that's acting funky, sending a white screen with this message.... "Content Encoding Error The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem." It was working fine this morning and then I refreshed and got that message.

sierralee

On my main page, click the "...more" button, then you should see the option. My guess would be trouble with Wikia itself, but I can't be sure. These comment sections are usually fairly active, though, so maybe someone will be along with a better answer!

DukeLeto7

On behalf of the "Brain Trust" of the wiki: "I know NOTHING!"

DukeLeto7

Also it's up now, so...

Ripe

Ahh... I really wanted to go to Stenai but I also can't wait to see what the fallout from Fucklord's attack will be. Hopefully, we'll get to go and see what happened all over Arclent. Not to mention that I want to lock up girls I managed to max during the crisis... So maybe it's better to deal with that in separate update so situation in Stenai doesn't take away from it.

Decanter

"lock up girls" eh? I don't think that's what the prison is for. Well, maybe for Varia or Trin.

Alexipaladin

The Wiki page for TLS works just fine. But the tab for the Walkthrough doesn't appear to.

sierralee

While I do have a lot of things on my list as consequences of the war, do keep in mind that the whole strategy was designed to limit fallout. Lots of people don't even know there could have been a war. Don't expect updated dialogue for every NPC in the world, is all I'm saying. The intro event I've written tries to hint at the new content, and I've also been trying to update anyone else who would logically update.

SSCat

I got a problem with TLS. I'm up to the 0.035.2 update and when I'm with Uyae, Varia and Riala in the tower area, for some reason, there's an invisible wall that stops me from going anywhere. Here, I'll post images to show you where. https://i.imgur.com/szYOwPw.png

Decanter

Works for me. But bug reports for the wiki should really go on their forum.

Decanter

Well the obvious answer here is to upgrade to 0.35.7...

WaxerRed

Sierra we NEED to know how the war affected the averageness of the brew in Stineford!

sierralee

IT HAS BECOME EXCEEDINGLY AVERAGE!

sierralee

Yes, please try to update and see if that fixes things! This was an issue I introduced during the updates, but it should be fixed in the newest build.

StalkerRoguen

So… As you know I am a big fan, but there was something that happened in the story that got me thinking. I will try to explain all my reasoning though, so please bear with me. You see, I plead equality for people in society, so my opinion on harem is not a good one. That being said, all member on Simon’s Harem are willing partners, so there is not “a problem” with that, everyone is free to choose. Well, as I was playing Ch: 4, there was a dialogue with Aka that she is bringing her concerns to him about time spend together, because really, it’s a valid point in a Harem. Not that it’s Simon’s fault, but no relationship is perfect and in this case this is a problem that you will have. Simon then says that he is trying to find a way to duplicate himself, so he can be in two places at the same time and I can’t help but feel… huh… creeped out by it? Perhaps, taken a little back? I mean, I find it hard to believe that of ALL the woman in the Harem, no one wants(not even the succubus) to sleep with another man. They may like Simon as much as they want, but he has freedoms that they clearly not have… isn’t that an issue? Aren’t we perhaps projecting our own insecurities on the plot, so Simon doesn’t have to feel “slighted” (or the players, by extension)? Anyway, the harem thing will clearly have problems of time distribution, which could be dealt with meeting new people, there must be other interesting man out there right? But nah… Simon will have more doubles so he can have his “Incubus gaze” and a “a firm grasp” on his Harem needs all the time (And I will not even start on how his perception of time, like living the same day twice on different aspects… Also, how does his mind process it? Ugh…). I am sorry if it feels like I am thrashing the plot or the interactions, I love the game, I guess I wanted to talk about how I felt and hear your thoughts if you want to share them. PS: I am starting to think that Simon is mind controlling the Harem without their knowledge in a way that people without shards can’t perceive. PS2: I still didn’t play the last update so I don’t know if it addresses one of my issues. COMMENT DELETED: I am satisfied by your reply, but can’t help but feel the same way I felt last time. I don’t know if you remember, but there was a time I posted in a forum (I don’t remember which) on how I didn’t like how Riven became the town’s whore in Noxians Nights ending because I saved them all, you know? Where is my respect? (Nothing against prostitutes, it’s just that I didn’t feel like becoming one when I could thrash the entire village if I wanted to. Couldn’t I become a guard?) You don’t need to address that again, I just remembered you saying that from a business perspective was good, people liked it, was well received and you were professional enough to write all that independent of your thoughts about it. (Can’t help but feel a jab, since I write what I want and my game does not go that well. : P) Anyway, I remember the scene at the gathering. I thought “They are really going to do it?”… I felt “something” at that time. As I kept playing the game, I didn’t really mind… but I will not say I didn’t “care” when it happened. As time progressed and I think I grew as a person, I noticed that it was not about me, that it didn’t meant anything, that it was really immature of me to try to control people like that and be upset about it… (I can enjoy NTR just fine now, since I don’t care about the protagonist that much anymore. : P) “I'm not sure I was wrong to set things up this way (from a business perspective).” When I read this sort of thing, I can’t help but clench my fist very strongly, holding my red flag with a sickle and a hammer drawing. But seriously now, I don’t think you were wrong, there is no story that will please everybody. Well, thanks for taking your time for answering it, I just wish that at some point in your life you get freedom enough to write about what you want, 100%, without outside influences and that I am there to read it. : P PS: If you already did, please point me to it. : P

Darthjake

You integrate them, slowly at first, I think then faster as you get used to it. The best way I can describe it real world is a lucid dream of the days events that did not happen but where close to what happened. We disregard the dream, but Simon integrates them. We know he has a disciplined mind already. I view his duplicates as spending more time with each girl individually, he cares about his women. Also, do you remember Alonon's comment about all the women around him that got corrupted and had to be saved by sex? There is something else in the plot/story that we are getting close to, but do not fully understand yet.

sierralee

I'm not offended at all, but my response is going to be a broad one that slides between the real world, artistic license, and in-game reality. I'm also sort of going to dodge around one issue, because it gets at a core plot point of TLS - whether or not that plot point will alleviate your concerns is another question. As a whole, TLS is my attempt to deconstruct and reconstruct several tropes in a way that doesn't include some aspects I don't like. I try to include elements of realism, but it is never going to be perfect and the more reality you apply, the more you will run into thorny issues. I agree there's probably no such thing as a healthy harem in real life, but this game tries to create that fantasy in a way that doesn't require an unreasonable amount of suspension of disbelief. Aka's concern is part of that, stemming from my reflection that if she and others actually love Simon, they'd want more time than he has to give. This aspect of harems has always struck me as a little sad, but it usually gets ignored in favor of sex. Whether or not you will be satisfied by my conclusion is another thing. But my intention for Simon making duplicates was not control, but to try to make this fantasy more realistically satisfying for the women involved. Of course, getting other people involved would be a more realistic solution. But it's one that I feel is circumscribed by the core tropes and design of the game. I respect the people who feel this is a fundamental flaw, but I hope I've at least explained my thinking a little better. > Aren’t we perhaps projecting our own insecurities on the plot, so Simon doesn’t have to feel “slighted” (or the players, by extension)? So yes, it's some of this, insecurity external to the story having an influence on it. And honestly, based on some of the reactions I've received, I'm not sure I was wrong to set things up this way (from a business perspective). I have seen so many people rant about the Gathering section, where Yarra and Qum have sex with anyone else, even to fulfill their objectives. Many feel so slighted by this that it fundamentally changes their view of the characters. I may think those interpretations are small-minded, but they do lead me to believe I wasn't wrong to plan the game with this in mind. > (And I will not even start on how his perception of time, like living the same day twice on different aspects… Also, how does his mind process it? Ugh…). It's definitely a skill that takes time to develop. But Simon has been slowly increasing his ability to focus on multiple things throughout the story, and his shard does assist to a degree. > PS: I am starting to think that Simon is mind controlling the Harem without their knowledge in a way that people without shards can’t perceive. Let me just state that from an in-world perspective, this isn't true. Simon unintentionally influenced Aka and Megail early on, as the plot addresses, but has since gained control so that no manipulation leaks out. Well, this post took a lot longer than I expected. I hope it helps explain my thoughts, at least!

sierralee

Yes, I recall that, though not the specifics or which forum it was. Similar phenomenon, though the emphasis is somewhat different in this case. The reconstructed harem concept does appeal to me and isn't just an issue of professionalism. TLS is maybe 90% me with some concessions to genre that I don't really mind too much. >(Can’t help but feel a jab, since I write what I want and my game does not go that well. : P) That certainly wasn't my intention. D= >Anyway, I remember the scene at the gathering. I thought “They are really going to do it?”… I felt “something” at that time. As I kept playing the game, I didn’t really mind… but I will not say I didn’t “care” when it happened. It just felt wrong to me for an event like the Gathering to have no sex, and I wanted to let the succubi be succubi a little. Since then, I think I've gained a better understanding of other people's views on this subject. >Well, thanks for taking your time for answering it, I just wish that at some point in your life you get freedom enough to write about what you want, 100%, without outside influences and that I am there to read it. I don't know that 100% is ever truly possible, but thanks to everyone's support I am certainly getting closer to a good point on this. When I conclude TLS I hope to be in a position with a lot of freedom. But at the same time, I really value the thoughts and reactions of everyone here on Patreon. Expect some interesting threads once the celebration of TLS is finished.

StalkerRoguen

... I think my comment just disappeared. I will edit the first one so not all goes to waste. : P

SSCat

Yep. That worked.

sierralee

I get that reaction, but my intention was that they're both returning to their side of the river after doing other work. It's a meeting as they pass, they didn't just come to argue with each other.

WaxerRed

Ahh, Okay I can get that thank you for the quick answer....although i did totally believe they walked out to the bridge to yell at one another :)

DukeLeto7

"If you're wondering how succubi fertilize eggs, and other science facts... (La la la) Then repeat to yourself, 'It's just a game, I should really just relax...'"

StalkerRoguen

If that's the way you feel you should do just that. I prefer to talk about it.

DukeLeto7

Yeah, I think you stole my title as Talky Orc.

Leveler All

All valid poins but some are kind of point out by the game itself, as i think on what you point out, for example, if a share could make people be mentaly manipulated by you on a different level, the once under the "super emperor" will have never even think of betraying him, king alon pointed out the shard is not to blame when siome himself told him if it was possible something like that will happend, yarra and the others have been sleaping around so they do have free will to pick partners, is just that none of them have find interest in any other men, and really tough simon is a veteran in all meanings of the word so they don't feel the need to try and find males, tough i do like the points you make.

StalkerRoguen

"The need". Do you as Simon have "the need" to add more women to the Harem? No, you just kind of meets a woman, she is nice and likes you, you like her as well, and you work things out. Why the same is not true to the women? Everyone can understand just fine that Simon liking Megail or Yarra does not mean that he doesn’t love Aka, but the opposite is not true? She “does not need”… come on. PS: I really thought that Aka would develop some sort of relationship with Meslan and I wanted to know how Simon would react. PS2: I would love to see Yarra banging the White Claw members, since she clearly finds them handsome. PS3: Sierra already disavowed the shard theory.

Jens Mikli

The only insulting thing here is that "projecting insecurities" being bad is a fully general argument against all fiction. It's still projecting insecurities if Aka gets a boyfriend just that it's looking too patriarchial that we're being insecure about.

StalkerRoguen

No it isn’t, you are assuming that everyone does it. The author already stated that it was business decision, what the hell are you talking about? Maybe it’s you who just read the same things all the time?

Jens Mikli

I'm not sure you understand what I was talking about. There simply is no way to argue against something being the audience projecting their insecurities onto the characters since claiming that isn't the case is just further evidence of those insecurities (there is a term called kafkatrapping that's more about politics but is related to this as well). So for example I could argue that every time a monogamous romance is portraied as healthy that is simply due to the fact that society is uncomfortable with non-standard relationship dynamics and that everyone who watches, writes and enjoyes these works is actually repressed and insecure and thus unwilling to accept that only polyamourous relationships can be happy. Arguing that something is bad based on hidden motives of the audience rather than concrete details and how you personally experienced them and what negative things they might imply isn't fair. It's barely a step up from name calling.

StalkerRoguen

First of I want to say: As Sierra stated, she wanted to present a Harem in the best way possible, where everyone is free and healthy. I am not assuming that it’s wrong because everyone there is free to choose. …Really? Kafkatrapping? My answer is this: I didn’t say people denying it proves my point. I said that they are and that’s it, based on evidences such as: Yarra/Qum slept with the orcs in the gathering and people complained about it, Sierra said so, isn’t it evidence? Make a pool about how much people would mind if the girls were allowed to date other man. Isn’t that evidence? How much Harems exist in reality (oppressive governments don’t count)? Isn’t that evidence? It’s like saying: “I am not insecure, I just want to have sex with all the woman I can and they cannot have sex with other men. If they do it’s a betrayal and I want to terminate my relationship with them.” Do you want to argue about right/wrong? Fine. Do you want to argue that the guy IS NOT insecure? Nope, sorry. If you want to make and counter point, be my guest, just don’t post something like “well I like it and it’s my opinion”. That’s not an argument. I am saying that a Harem does not give the same freedom to all participants. It’s like you say people are free and they have a king. They are not free, the king rules. They may be happy, the king can be good and fair but they are NOT equals. My critic was not in the department of abolishing the Harem because, opinions aside, that is the point of the game. I just wanted to bring to Sierra’s attention how I felt in regards of the “double Simon” thing, that I thought it was “too much”. I am not here to pick a fight or thrash the community, Sierra already answered my question and I am satisfied, just don’t come to me with this silly reasons telling me that “it’s fair”. You want more freedom, you allow more freedom. Otherwise you don’t grow up as a person.

Jens Mikli

You pretty much went off at me though. All I said was that the insecurity accusation was insulting and unfair and it is. And yes it obviously doesn't matter what people who were polled or who wrote angry comments about the gathering think. Unless you agree with them they don't really represent either of us do they?

StalkerRoguen

I will say this: It's not my intention to insult people and if you felt that way, I am sorry that you did. That being said, I think that if you fit in what I said, you are insecure and based on my examples, it isn't unfair at all. To me it doesn’t matter, but I am not the author. They are the fanbase, their opinion matter to the author to a degree. Negativity can be annoying, principally when given by an immature point of view.

Jens Mikli

>That being said, I think that if you fit in what I said, you are insecure and based on my examples, it isn't unfair at all. ??? I was never agianst the girls having relationships besides Simon and if you couldn't tell that much I think that should prove a point at least.

StalkerRoguen

The point is that you were not clear. That's all.

Decanter

It seems underemphasized, in this discussion and in the game itself to a degree, that some of this is ameliorated by the harem members forming relationships and spending quality time with each other, making it really kind of a hybrid of harem and group marriage. (If you don't feel that it's the same with a woman as with a man, you might want to reflect on whether you're overvaluing the phallus here.) >Aren’t we perhaps projecting our own insecurities on the plot, so Simon doesn’t have to feel “slighted” (or the players, by extension)? Is it a problem if there is an element of that? The game exists for our sake; there's no need to be fair to fictional characters. Quite a lot of erotica and fiction in general is part escapism or wish fulfillment fantasy, and that's OK.

StalkerRoguen

1. "So, if it's the same, there is no problem on welcoming men into the harem, right?" 2. The game exists because Sierra wants to make a game.

Decanter

1. Evidently not right, considering how many real people have issues with it. Also, if we're considering as a harem, then it's Simon's harem and he's not into it. 2. Then why give her feedback?

Grey Wolf

Man that is bizarre, people really were that impacted by scenes that Yarra and Qum seem to have forgotten about almost immediately. I thought the whole point of that section was to guilt trip you if you used Qum, the way it sort of petrifies her and puts an even bigger burden on Yarra is actually pretty damned sad. Speaking of these 'indiscretions' or whatever what about Yarra's squad? Her admirer followed her from Steinford to Yhilin and into the TAW and we just forgot about her?

StalkerRoguen

1> Ugh, it's same argument all over again. I already talked about it, go re-read or whatever if you care to. 2> Because I play it and wanted to?

StalkerRoguen

Hey Grey Wolf, I am afraid I didn't had that scene. What is this about?

Decanter

Stalker: Yeah, I saw. You "talked about it" in a literal sense, then cut off the discussion with the classic "sorry you felt offended by the offensive thing I said" non-apology. Grey Wolf: Interestingly, using Qum is only written to be guilt-inducing if Qum hasn't reached her maximum relationship depth with Simon. If she has, she feels secure enough in the relationship that she can use sex outside the relationship to work toward the goals of the group. So I don't think the idea is to guilt trip, but rather to highlight that Qum prizes her relationship with Simon above most anything else.

StalkerRoguen

Yeah, I said that because I didn't want the guy to feel offended, but I also don't think that I am wrong. That's the best I can do. So...?

Dubsington

Just to offer a perspective-- I loved the orgies at the gathering, and it would have made little sense for the succubi to remain chaste in such an environment or for that environment to be sexless. But then, I'm not someone who self-identifies with protagonists, so it doesn't really bother me that they fooled around if Simon was okay with it. If you do make different future decisions, Sierra, hopefully they will come as in-game options (e.g. you can forbid the girls from fooling around, which will cut out that content but have consequences) and not just by restricting the writing.
