Events attempted to conspire against me, but I overcame them! This was the best week for TLS work in a while, making some good progress. Of course, I want to be making great progress, not good progress, so I'm going to keep this post short and hope that this momentum holds.

Meanwhile, please do check out some of the other stuff going on:

Most obviously, we have more fanart courtesy of genericname12345! That Yarra face I put first makes me chuckle every single time. It's fun to see these fantasy scenarios, and even Orcent shows up this time!

I've cross-promoted with other projects in the past when it seemed beneficial, but this may be the first time I'm promoting something for its own sake: Complex Relations by our own Desertopa is running its Kickstarter now! If you're interested in good writing (and/or threesomes) in a more grounded setting than I usually write, this could be of interest to you. It's on pace to hit stretch goals, so this is a chance to get in early.

There was a mess with Soulhome reviews, but... I guess it's resolved now, no need to dwell. Anyway, if you have an Audible account and have listened to the audiobook, consider upvoting the reviews that seem most thoughtful to you, just so the page is less vulnerable to brigading. Also, I have a small number of free codes left, so if any patrons here want but can't afford the audiobook, I could make that your present.

Holiday releases don't work well, so I've missed my chance for a final release this year, but I will still be hard at work. If anyone has stuff to message me about (for example I got some kind programming help from Decanter) don't hesitate to contact me. Otherwise I will be working quietly.

Yarra face have a lot of that 'Tehehe, burn things' spirit Lilith spoke of, succubus version of course ^^

I feel december and such hollydays should be more of a down time to take things slow, or re planing and looking back at the overall performance of the year and re planing for january

Desertopa

I'm flattered, and really glad to have your support. I definitely hope Complex Relations is on track to meet stretch goals, but since this is my first time running a Kickstarter and seeing the behind-the-scenes figures, all my intuitions about what to expect from the campaign are kind of getting chucked out the window. If it can keep up its current trends along the lines that other projects have though, I'll be extremely pleased.

Holidays are usually quiet for me, so sometimes they've been among my most productive periods. However, you can count on a yearly post with reflection and planning as usual! I've been turning it over in my head for a while now.

sierralee

My experience with Kickstarter is years out of date now, but as I recall, the usual pattern is rapid growth the first week, a lull in the middle, and then a stronger final week. The conventional wisdom was that the first benchmark for a strong campaign was hitting 33% funded within a few days, then the second is 50% funded before the first week. If a campaign reaches that point, it will generally meet or exceed its goals due to backers who only look at campaigns that are nearly done or nearly funded. That was the context for my statement, anyway. Good luck!

genericname12345 you are the friggin man!!! or woman.. if your a woman. haha. But damn this fanart is amazing and the scenarios are pretty damn hot. I wish my imagination was as good as yours haha. And as for Sierra I wasn't really expecting a release before the end of the year but im sure your still doing what you can. It has been a good year for me and I hope it was for all of you as well.

Mycroft

To Desertopa : Are you going to use Patreon for your project anytime ? I would rather not use kickstarter right now, but I may be interested in the game.

Mycroft

Who is the woman simon is fucking in the 3rd and 4th pictures ? Also, I'm happy that things are going better for you, and I hope that it will stay that way for a long time.

Seriathus

Looks like Ivala to me.

Darthjake

Simon looks a little maniacal in the 3rd pic.

BleBle

All is fun and quietly until Agnus Dei from Samuel Barber starts playing in the background. I'm glad you had a better week, mine not so well, covid is rising, this is a neverending story, oh well. Have a nice week and holidays.

FormerHater

Happy Holidays, Take care of yourself. Enjoy some food. Rest a bit. Good luck.

Desertopa

I wasn't planning to; we're aiming for a relatively constrained development cycle which shouldn't require continual injection of funds. But you could always wishlist the game on Steam and get a copy when it comes out if it appeals to you.

sierralee

Yes, it sadly feels like this one is going to continue. I can only imagine how rough it is for those working on the front lines. Regardless, of all that, I hope you have a better 2022!

DukeLeto7

Fucking before theology!

FenyxSCPlayer

This looks like yarra got her wishes conceded...maybe you should add these scenes as some kind of powerful being "granting" her the wishes of her past? haha

genericname12345

Now that you mention it, he kind of does - I was more focused on Annah, Carina and Yelarel's expressions to give good feedback on him. Ah well. Maybe he's loosened up a bit or something, or this is on Ivala's request.

Reddy Bread

Yea Simon is dickin down The Goddess that all 3 women worship right in front of them haha quite an interesting turn of events! The 1 with the elf queens as well it would be hilarious if they both got banged in front of The Mother.

Hey, SL. So it turns out that I'm taking an "involuntary extended vacation of indeterminate length" starting next Friday, and since I've solved one trivial TLS bug without actually using any Ruby scripting, I've decided, in my hubris, to take a swing at fixing the lingering problems with Hime's Tile Swap script next month. Believe it or not, I think I have a general idea how to go about doing it... in that I know what I think needs to be done in a meta-code sense but I simply need to start hitting my brain and a Ruby manual against the existing script until it submits. But before that I want to make sure that I know what all of the tile_swap issues are. I believe they can be summarized as "The tile_swap code doesn't always properly copy the formatting of wall corners and and some waterfall effects in the original map." I know there's also some bad documentation of the "layer" variable that handles the B, C, D and E tabs of a tileset, and the toy tile swapping test game I made the last time I looked at it didn't really handle bridges very well, but that may be a symptom of the issue as I defined it above. I have some other ideas of improvements to make to the game via scripting, some of which I've pitched to you before, but I'll post them with the Sunday update and see how many you think are necessary and/or are desired by the other patrons.

sierralee

I hope everything works out for you. If you want to spend some of your time on these issues, the game could be better for it. I'm actually not the best person to talk to about the specific details of the tile swapping, but you've accurately listed the main issue I recall. The specific problem is single width walls, as seen in some doorways in the HQ.

DukeLeto7

It's a layoff with favorable references instead of a firing, and my employer claims they should be able to get me onto a project with another client... so it could be a lot worse. I was really quite unhappy with the job, so it may be a blessing. Without getting too deep into the programmy weeds, each tile in a tileset, when used in a map, has about 3 bytes of binary data describing various permutations of how the tile is to be displayed given its relationship to other tiles, like "this part of the wall is an edge" or suchlike. Hime determines whether each tile is a wall tile or a waterfall tile or what have you and then fills in the various binary data based on its relations to the other tiles around it. He just doesn't quite do everything that the map engine does naturally. I think he intended this to allow for cases where you want to create a wall from nowhere. This is all well and good, but since we propose to replace walls with walls, I believe we can get away with coding an alternate tile swap function that copies those 3 bytes of binary data from the old tile settings to the new ones, so long as it confirms both the original and the final tile are indeed walls.

sierralee

Sounds like a good solution to me. Best of luck with the rest!

Runcible Technician

Dude, I'm sorry to hear about the work situation but if you can fix my stronghold's walls you get a special place in my heart.
