Bug reports have dropped off, so I'm putting out TLS 0.59.2. The changes aren't substantial, but it's there in case anyone wants to see the fixed scenes, check the final balance tweaks, or just play on the newest version. Unless something new is discovered, this might be the public version.

ORIGINAL POST

Okay, TLS 0.59.1! This one is much closer to final content, and more generous to the player, but likely not the final balance. Also, loads of new art!

TLS 0.59.1

- Numerous corrections, additions, and improvements.

- All new art scenes added!

There are too many changes to easily document. One thing I can say is that none of them are tucked away: they're mostly additional complications to the present sections that calculate variables. The exceptions are a few brand new events that address entirely new elements, but they're generally not mechanically significant.

Enough elements have been added that I'm again uncertain about the balance. All the new art scenes have not been thoroughly checked, either, so please check for typo crashes. But hopefully this version has gotten us close enough that I can release a fully polished 0.59.2 publicly next weekend.

How close to final is "closer to final"? I've got the time to play tonight, but if there are likely to be changes to events, or switches/variables added, I'd rather hold off. I don't care about potential balance changes, though.

Something I missed first round, why does Grynyth GAIN RP if we helped the potion hermit. Weren't we helping the potion hermit ignore Grynyth? Thwartin' her plans?

Captain Hair

Is there a specific list of the new art?

Well Reflect doesn't crash the game. Tested with Sane Altina and Reshaped Varia: Altina First Later, Arford Orgy, Neranda Impregnation, Reunion Orgy, Sarai Solo, Varia First Reshaped, Yarra + Qum, and Yarra Qum Ogre seemed to work fine. Reunion Orgy's first pic just being an empty bed with Aka resting mostly out of frame was odd. Yarra 75 and Yarra 100 Affection have each other's art. Finishing Yarra 100 Affection crashed the game.

Loved all the changes to the update, especially with Simon's reworked scenes and Tertia's new comments. I like that she actually seems interested in how Simon will come out of the prison, because it basically sounds like simulation what she feels merely existing is like. I hope they much to discuss in the future (or... stare blankly at each other not discussing anything until Yarra throws a fit). I also didn't mention it last time but I did love Altina (sane version, I didn't check the other) getting another time to shine in the elven forests! I think the bloody seed could use some more work because now that the bloody drips do percentage damage, they can one shot the entire party when there are six of them just chilling out. Maybe space out their spawning a bit or something? Additionally, the inventory is still completely empty after the prison. Also, maybe it is *still* just me but even after trying both the 59.0b and 59.1 updates from saves before the Incubus War started, I still get the bizarre problem that Kai is locked into every one of my parties.

Decanter

May as well point this out publicly since I won't be the only one: Yarra's harem checker and affection checker NPC are gone from the green room at the end. Both have an empty event page that overrides. Edit: Oh yes, and while it doesn't seem to cause any issues accessing any content, there are some tile walkability issues in the "Simon Gate" map, which I believe can be fixed just by reapplying the ledge tiles in the editor.

I'll be playing through this tomorrow but just a quick note about something early on. On the Agnostic, after making Esthera's first decision, the text box that starts with "The floating core was mostly destroyed" is too long for the screen.

Agumentic

A suggestion - perhaps a hit to Grynyth RP for taking the pin should be compensated if Altina is currently equipped with it? So something like -5 for taking but +2 for Altina wearing it. Seems like it'd make sense.

Rachnera

Quick typo: Min says she trades with Derghalon instead of Darghelon. Otherwise, not enough hindsight yet to have a clear picture about balance. Just noticed the "Givini threatened" check during Esthera's section has a lot more leeway than any other check of this update, and that I have no idea how many Arclent Acceptance a "normal" save will have at the end since the range of possible losses is so large (from a minimum of about -10 to something like a total of -50 in the very worst case). Since it's possible to start the war with 50+ in that variable, I'll wager keeping it on the positive side might not be that hard even with all potential hits to it, but it's more instinct than math here.

BUG REPORT : Hey Sierra, i recently decided to start TLS again from the begging and I've run into a bug i can't get around in chapter 3. The bug happens when I go to meet the Elf Queens for the first time, and I have to choose if Lynine or Orilise will lead me to the woods to collect materials. Once i make my selection (Happens regardless of who i pick) i'm advanced several chapters in the game to when the Orcs are attacking the elven kingdoms and there are the fire markers on the map. More accurately, the game transitions to the location i think i'm supposed to be in, just a later version, a dialogue with Riala (who is yet to be recruited) starts, a fight with 3 orcs, then a transition to the overall Dar/Gel region map. I'm running the 0.59.0b version. Can provide a save file via PM if you'd like. Assuming the version of that map in later chapters has the same name as the one I'm supposed to go to, and the trigger is linked to to wrong one perhaps?

An observation The bloody seed is frustrating but a lot if you dont have something with inmunity to paralysis, even using resistance items is still frustrating and you must rely on rpg luck, even using serum, and even using area effect attacks you still rely on luck. I dont think it is fair because it is like again, something you "must know" if you want to pass, for newbies you are screwed unless for some luck your playtrough is relying on hilstara, riala an altina. It took more than 10 times to me to win the battle relying on rpg luck.

I played the section again after rushing the .0 update and I'm glad to see some things changed. I would like to add some feedback to the Sections I left out of my last comment as well. Playing the entire update for the second time the jokes didn't feel as blunt, but it did feel like a running joke that was just running through a short segment. For the most part i do chuckle at Yarra, guess this time it just wasn't my cup of tea this time The Trin Jokes for all the sections she had copies in were top-notch though they had me laughing and smiling at my screen. The Bloody Seed Fight Was thrilling from my experience! Soloing it is definetly not a possibility anymore. The fight felt so intense that I considered going back to a previous update just to have more Accesoy options to switch with Riala and Altina, I only had partial resistance to Paralysis on both of them so it was a Exciting to take my chances. Took me several attempts and perhaps a bit of luck but it felt like a fight where every move had to be coreographed while being ready for the posibility of a paralysis on either one of my mages. The satisfaction I felt after finishing it was delightful. The elven kingdom segment was perhaps my favorite of the ones in this update. It felt good to balance both kingdoms knowing that a joint effort without a clear superior was more benefitial for the stability of the region. All the little interactions with the Mother, Lynine, Orilise and even Altina left good impressions on me. I have always felt that Lynine was the party member I liked the least specially compared to Orilise but she really shined in this section, Her passion and dedication to her people was very well portraied. I loved Altina's inspired speech to rally the elves. It felt like putting out fires (no pun intended) and sowing seeds on the ash sprinkled ground. The Zirantian and Tak' Kan Sections were nicce as well. It was a joy to see the 2 places where i had probably set my biggest efforts surviving the onslaught partly thanks to my decissions. I even got their bonuses on the second playthrough! I didn't know I could get items like those, I guess your tuning made it easier and that was enough to push me through in the numbers. Fledgling ideals enduring in the storm was a great sensation. Qum's fight against Tanurak's Influence was Great as well. Just like with Tak' kan and Zirantia, the underdog overcomming the odds and pushing back against the ugliness of the world. I noticed more npcs in the Ardan section but none of them had anything to tell me, So that was mostly the same to me. Though In one of my saves I left Sabitha for the end and I really liked that brief comment on her "Why is everyone ignoring me? I want to help!". Her Demonic nature tends to make her look selfish and self-centered, like someone who doesn't want to be bothered but will assist if asked. That comment of frustration and desire to help the party was faboulous. I'm totally a Sabitha fan now If i wasn't already. And for other small comments I wanted to make. As for Tanurak. Well, dang it. I really liked him because I don't usually see an author make so much out of such a character. Chaotic Evil Villains, specially high tier ones are very difficult to actually execute in an acceptable manner, let alone a good way without just turning them into natural forces. I'll miss the old dick. But I guess it goes to show that when you try to make reality your bitch, you might just end up screeching like one as you vanish into the void. Alonon's white magic animations were badass and I would like to know a bit more of him if possible. Such a fascinating character. Also, I apreciatted the tweaking of the values at the begining of Esthera's section. They felt a lot more merciful this time around. The final Holy encounter felt perfect. Challenging but not gruelling. And just as Robin had Said, it felt like they were designed against previous strategies of mine. No slow debuffing, self-buffing and Clean fighting against them. A Forceful and Focused attack against the mage followed by stabilization against the knights felt like a good change of pace from my usual tactics. Hester was indeed observant and bright. All in all, I really like the direction the end-game is taking. I'll be patiently looking forward to the next update. The wait for this 0.1 update was well worth it. Cheers!

Out of curiosity Sierra, what does your regular party look like? Just for a general battle with an unknown foe? I personally haven't been able to find a party more effective than Simon, Hilstara, Varia, and Carina. Hilstara tanks most aggro & buffs, Carina spams divine protection to raise everyone's defense and also provide healing, and Varia's DPS is absolutely unmatched. I've seen servant's frenzy+blade dance do +60,000 damage with crits. Add in regular frenzy and buffed attack from Simon or Hilstara and she absolutely wrecks everything.

0.59.1 reports: Trin says she's up for some copying at the start of the Aram section, but there are no copying opportunities given (at least for me). Sabitha's new lines about being busy with allied mammals is good, since it gives more of an impression that all the different threads are happening at the same time. The new cliffs for the Simon Gate map look good, but the map itself still feels very empty during the short section before triggering the rescue. The Ardford, Aram and Zirantia teams are represented by Robin, Aka and Uyae respectively, but there's nobody from the Sylvan or Tak'Kan teams, and none of the big players like Wendis, Esthera, or Sabitha. It'd be a good opportunity to have people report in on how their respective sections went. Also, in addition to the tiling issues Decanter mentioned, there is also a white sparkle in the southeast of the Simon Gate which doesn't seem to be attached to anything. The silence after Alonon's final act makes the scene feel lacking. I think it would be better to have some sort of subtle melancholy music kick in - I'm thinking something simple with minor-key piano arpeggios, or plaintive strings like the old Feroholm theme. I will also see if I can improve the awkward fade at the end of the new chanting track (later - sleep now). Two instances of a typo to signal in the Elven forests section: Gheldaron is written as "Dhelgaron" in Riala's dialogue right after being kicked to the regional map after meeting the Mother, and in Min's first dialogue on contacting her with the sphere ("Well, I already trade with Dhelgaron").

Out of curiosity, is the 12+ airship counters check supposed to be the equivalent of the 200+ Army size of the Third Arclent War? Like, not impossible, but requiring to be fully committed to it, possibly at the cost of most important things? Cause it's only possible to reach 12 here if you've invested into airships at the start of the chapter 4, militarized before the end of chapter 4, and had Sabitha support them during the first phase of the war. So quite a dedication to aerial warfare. Not an issue from a balance perspective as it's not a crucial check, just wondering. Apropos balance, the huge +5 bonus in Ardford from having started the research on divine shards really warps the difficulty of the section around it. It's reasonably difficult to get the best (16+) result with it and without Tyna's explicit involvement (doable but not much leeway), and extremely hard (though probably not fully impossible) without it.

Quick items on Fulminato's game logic analysis in case you didn't get the notes from him. It looks like there needs to be a conditional around the check for the player's response to the Strange Little Girl's question about whoring Qum that only triggers it if you did, in fact, whore out Qum. As of now people who did not do so are getting a -1 RP as if they never had the talk with the little girl from that section. Also, the switch #2734 Lil Jibbers Talk is never used in game. Based on the code-archaeological context, it looks like it originally served the function now handled by self switch B on Tower HQ event 12. (The little girl conversation after the Ardan Succession crisis.)

I found Palina's scene to be particularly powerful. Skipping it is such a disservice to the narrative that I think it was a mistake to have made it optional at all. Having missed it my first time around, I found it galling to see how much stronger the transition became once the missing dialogue was restored; Simon's rage, Palina's resilience, Hester's regret, the courage of common soldiers, and brushstrokes of personal gravity for the otherwise abstract war in heaven... I believe that Alonon's finale, in particular, is undermined by the absence of that last battle of will between Simon and Tanurak.
