Originally I planned to release a TWC book this weekend, but I delayed it for a number of reasons, among them wanting to spend more time on TLS 0.59.1. There are some tweaks to make now that it's out, but it seems to be in good shape overall for the public release.

Anyway, that means TWC4 is releasing next weekend. I've started jumping through the Amazon hoops and everything. I'll mention it next update, or if you follow my Sarah Lin work you should get a notification on Friday. Fingers crossed that the steady sales of previous books translate into a strong launch.

Meanwhile we have some more lovely fanart for everyone to enjoy! One of the background characters might seem ironic given events taking place after the commission started, but nah, she's generally laid back about that sort of thing.

Technically, all those fanarts are cannon, following the Fable rules from OEA ^^ Which makes it more of a shame that we got the most stuck up Annah. Maybe we can exchange her in the post game XDXDXD

The second image, the one with Hester in it, I just absolutely adore. Hester tossing them the coin just makes the image. First thought with that was "yep, that is so Hester"

Leveler All

Makes me wonder how hester was on her youth, she is clearly the most mature and wise of the church and not just because she is old, she seen and live through a lot, and considering the time frame when the first IK invaded, that means she was around when the world was "normal", makes me curios of her background

Seriathus

True. There must be some REALLY interesting story to her...

Desertopa

I missed the coin at first, so to me it looked like she was just giving them a thumbs-up.

Sierra... Im liking the fanart a lot... hipotetically what would it take to make it canon? do we have to pay for the rights to the artists? could yarra or any other succubus, for example yelarel, modify someone`s dreams ?(like when yarra used his wife against him on a dream) would you be agaisnt it? because depending on the price I might be interested on paying some for this to be included in the game

BleBle

Alonon died for this

Darthjake

Sweet on the TWC release, I just finished Archcrafter while I was waiting to see if I was going to have to be on a jury, and I've got to admit, you blindsided me at the very end.

sierralee

That depends on what you mean. The core plot of the game, including its religious politics, isn't going to change, which is part of the reason these fantasy scenes are fun. But if you're really interested in some fantasy scenes making it into the game, then it's easily possible with some combination of dream, illusion, and transformation magic.

sierralee

Good to hear! There are a lot of fun twists planned in this series. ^-^ Based on sales and reviews, lots of people have been getting around to catching up on the first three books over the past months. If even a decent fraction of those people order the next book, it has a chance for an explosive launch, but I have my fingers crossed.

FenyxSCPlayer

What I mean is: would you be willing to write scenes for these fan art ( as a dream, ilusión or whatever you consider fitting) and include them in the game ? If so, I would be willing to increase muy pledge for a time until we pay for the rights of the art ( supposing too that the guy that comisioned this isnt against It either) edit: sorry i wrote this from my phone and it autocorrected some

sierralee

You mean buy the rights to the fanart and incorporate it into the game? I'm afraid that strikes me as legally questionable.

genericname12345

I mean, I'm fine with it, I can go ask the artist what he thinks since he's already doing art for another game. Admittedly, it'll take a while since he's on vacation atm and won't be back until, like, February.

sierralee

I'm glad to see the enthusiasm, but leery about both the potential legal issues and how well this content would fit in the game. Overall, I wouldn't rule it out, but for the time being I want to stay focused on the next several updates.

FenyxSCPlayer

Im not saying for you to do it now either. If there is the will, there is the way hehe. I dont care if you leave this for "after release". This is the deal im offering: you secure the rights to include the fanart on the game, you (eventually) write a scene that you consider fitting (Imagination from Yarra, a dream, a illusion, "torture" , a "what if", a future , a fanfic from yelarel, a fanfic from a nun, a fanfic from one of the succubus...whatever floats your boat and you find fitting and confortable with) you tell me how much it cost and i will increase my pledge until its paid. When its finally paid you pay the artist and I go back to my 10 dollars until I want something different again.

Lamsey

For the record, I'm against the idea of including any art that clashes stylistically or thematically with the existing art or story. TLS is at its heart a work of storytelling, not of pornographic gratification.

FenyxSCPlayer

Well for the récord I dont think It clashes at all, either thematically nor stylistically . The difference in art can be chalked up to not being real ( like the change in art when the qum bomb happened) . It is a porn game, even If It is a high brow porn game and im asking it because It amuses me

Samshit

I love this fan art. I've got an idea. Lets do a contest vote with the best fan art. And the winner got a "fanfic" text by Sierra lee. Not canon in the game, of course !

DankPotatoes

Hey Sierra, weird question, but you haven't fiddled around with any data or variables in recent updates pertaining to the takeover of Yhilin and the evaluation the ginger ambassador gives you waaaay back at the start of chapter 3, right? I've been getting some results in that section that shouldn't be close to possible according to the wiki

sierralee

I didn't get an email for this comment! That's a bad precedent; hopefully it won't repeat. Anyway, while I am pretty busy at the moment, this is a cute idea and I like seeing fanart. If we actually had enough artists interested in this, it might be fun to do in a lighter period.

sierralee

I haven't intentionally changed any of the calculations in that part any time recently.

Reddy Bread

Thats actually a pretty cool idea. I know TLS got loyal fans cause im 1 of them so im sure some of the die hard fan would love to see more fanart. But regarding what the guy above said I think we should just leave Sierra to do what she does best and keep delivering the story she wants to us. Theres nothing better then the original source material as it was originally intended. But I do think we should create a cool TLS fan community though a platform where people can share that type of stuff fanart and fanfics and whatever other cool stuff people can come up with. I think it would be beneficial to everyone actually.

DukeLeto7

I took a look at the Discord discussion. So assuming this isn't just some freak accident where a high energy cosmic photon ended its eons long journey by slamming headlong into your RAM chip and changed exactly the byte containing your game's active Temp1 variable from a 5 to 2 or less (the ambassador's dialogue is the same as you describe for 2, 1 and 0)... ...then there's some content later on in Chapter 3 or 4 in one of the New Yhilin maps that utilizes (and thus resets) the Temp1 variable that you were not expected to be able to experience at that point in the game. I've got an approximate idea as to how to burn down the haystack to look for that needle, but I need to finish the code fixes killing the last mystery bug I promised SL first...

Decanter

It'd be nice to see a save and exact repo steps from that save - maybe a video? ShareX takes videos. The temp variable hypothesis is sadly plausible though. Variable reuse can be hazardous.

DukeLeto7

Hey, SL. Have yet to communicate with DankPotatoes, but I'm reasonably confident that the culprit is the Ledger common event and the Tradesmasher profit calculation. Thinking ahead, I'm going to look at the common events that can be called by player action at any time, but it looks like Trin Copies and Base Bed could also potentially cause problems. Probably safest to replace the temp variables in all three.

DankPotatoes

Yup, The Duke found the issue, and it appears to be the Tanurak of bugs: Subtle, hard to pin down, hard to notice when active, yet potentionally greatly damaging when let loose. Props for finding it. Question is if you wanna make a 59.4 or wait for 0.60, Sierra. Apparently people check their ledger rarely enough that I'm the first to experience this. (or at least to notice it)

sierralee

Good catch! I've tried to move away from using the Temp variables for large sections, but that earlier part of the game does indeed overlap variables. I'm going to give the Ledger and the Base Bed events their own unique variables for those calculations. The Trin Copies event uses variable 1, which should never be used for a section, but any other uses of variables 6-8 are also potential issues. I spent too much of today building and uploading things to put out a new one. T-T Plus, the probability that my eyes will glaze over while changing the variables is too high, so better to handle it during the next cycle.

DukeLeto7

So... I didn't trust you when you said variable 1 (Random Number) would ever be used that way, and I checked... Sorry. You are technically wrong. There is exactly one map that uses Random Number as a "section variable". It's the Zirantian Village map in the latest update. You might consider changing the variable to one of the Temps if you care about enforcing that rule, but barring RPG Maker hacking it should be impossible to invoke Trin Copies during that section. Here's the listing of Common Events that invoke either Random Number or the various Temps: Ledger (Temp1) Trin Copies (Random Number) Simon Day Counter (Random Number) Base Bed (Temp1) Chapter 4 Iterate and Chapter 5 Iterate (Temp1, Tradesmasher Calc again, might want to change for consistency with Ledger code) It looks like the only other use of Random Number in the Simon's Route maps is the check of Nalili's level in the Fighting Ring, which should be safe. Because I did it anyway, here's the listing of the variables' uses in the event code for the various battle troops: The various Fucklord fight malus calculations. Fuzkao's HP calculation in the 2nd IW fight. Trin's death calc.
