My mother has died. This is the end of a long struggle with cancer, so it isn't a shock. I may be slow to respond over the coming period, but I don't anticipate long term delays.

It seems that it isn't possible to lock comments on a post here. My intention had been to avoid putting patrons in the awkward position of deciding whether or not it's appropriate to offer condolences to a pornography creator. If you still want to offer something, clicks on the heart icon will be interpreted as emotional support.

It's been exactly a month since OEA launched and I was originally planning to post an evaluation of its success today. Would people accept it as a sober evaluation not unduly influenced by circumstances? I'm going to assume so and not test that assumption. Might as well be after the 1.0 release instead.

If we're in contact about any other issues, you don't need to feel like you can't send me things. I will manage myself appropriately and deal with them when I have the bandwidth. More concrete information next week.

My condolences. For me it was my grandfather. We had the luck to have multiple trial tests works so he lasted 10 more years, but the last one made him sicker with no influence on the cancer. He had the courage to say stop, and I respect that immensely. After all it's him who endured the pain for all these years. He entered paliative care and we went to see him to give our goodbye, on the travel back he was gone. Only 2 days had passed since he entered the care, he passed away in his sleep. I was the only one who thought to thank the undertakers, after all they carried the coffin and were very respectful. Finally, no matter the profession, everyone should be allowed to receive condolences for the death of a loved one. And your work is so much more than just pronography.

I have no such reservations, but out of a desire to avoid shallow cliches I'll just ask you to put yourself and your other loved ones first, take as much time as you need and don't worry about us or the projects until you're fully ready for it again.

Innocuous

You have my condolences regardless of the type of content you make. Your patrons are here because they enjoy the work that you make and want to support you, as a person, in the creation of it.

What you do for a living should and doest not have anything to do with that, the comunity supports you for your talent and how amazing you are as a creatore, this is a moment a lot of people can relate too, take all the time you need, there is no easy way to tackle this moments, we all cope differently and famili is tehre for you.

We know that making and enjoying adult games and pornography may be socially transgressive, but it does not make you or us innately morally defunct, exploitive, or deserving of shame. I hope you and others close to you afford you kindness for your loss and are proud of your creativity and passion. Personally, I've found TLS a solace from my own medical suffering and a joy for it's stimulating critiques on economics, politics, and common thinking as well as it's sexual content. Thank you for what you do and I value you however you show up. If I knew you in person and you welcomed it, I'd give you a caring embrace and would want to hear stories about your family and how they shaped you. Take all the time you wish.

We're all humans in the end regardless of profession. Sorry for your loss and take care of yourself.

Your art is your art, regardless of whether it is erotica or not. Please accept my most sincere condolences. My own mother died of cancer five years in similar circumstances and it is a sting that, while expected, never quite fades. Do what you need to do for yourself, whether that is work or rest.

Dark Art

My deepest condolences Sierra, may your mother rest in peace.

I'm very sorry to hear, and I certainly don't see any way in which your chosen profession makes that less appropriate or more difficult to say. If there's difficulty, it's in finding the right words to speak to the situation--in hopes of striking the right balance there, I'll just say that I hope this period isn't too hard on you, and that you definitely shouldn't feel any need to rush through it on our account.

Verden

I wish you the best. Please take as much time as you need, in any capacity that is best for you.

Belly97

Sorry to hear that, glad at least you had some time to prepare, but it still sucks. Take as much time as you need for yourself and your loved ones.

Treeman4

No matter what it is that you do, a certain level of basic human kindness is deserve in a time like this. I wish you well during this.

My condolences for your loss. Take as much time you need to process everything. As others have said, I support you because of the content you create. I think calling you a pornography creator is a little harsh on yourself. Because, I definitely don't see you as that. I see you as an artist and author that happens to have adult content in your works, which many of the highly acclaimed authors have in their works as well. So, don't sell yourself short. Anyways, take care of yourself and know we are here to support you in any way we can, not just with our wallets.

I wish you comfort in your time of loss. Nothing will replace your mother, but with time you can feel whole again. In the meantime, I would never begrudge you taking time to mourn.

The thought of ANYONE thinking it's wrong or awkward to offer condolences angers me. Speaking as a christian but more importantly as a decent human, my prayers go to you and your mother. I just wish I had the financial ability to offer more.

Darthjake

I don't think that I posted here when it happened, but I also lost my mom recently, Feb 13th, 1 week after her birthday (84), in any case my condolences and our family's prayer are with you.

I'm sorry to hear. Take care of yourself. Take the time you need, then forge on ahead. You are a first class game developer, and the best I know for mature adult content.

Coyote

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother. Please don't forget to take care of yourself in this trying time.

Art is art, and the puritanical idea that there is anything wrong with art based around the more sexual aspects of our humanity is what is wrong, not your art. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope that you will take whatever time you need for yourself. I've lost a loved one to cancer as well, and I know both how hard the experience is and how tangled and difficult the emotional experience after their death can be. Please, do whatever you need to do for yourself and your family as you face these difficulties.

Sorry for your loss. You hold yourself to a high standard but I hope you are able to take the time you need.

Reddy Bread

Sorry to hear that. Im dealing with a similar problem with my mother she likely has colon cancer and her mother had it before her. I couldnt blame you if you wanted to take a break cause I know I will be devastated when my mother passes. I hope an abundance of love and comfort comes to you.

My condolences, This year has been filled with trying times, I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Quiet Stranger

I hold confidence in your strength to overcome this tragedy. You know that you have our support, in whatever form you might want it. But I know that you will meet each day ahead with the quiet courage you have often shown.

Zeal

I am so, so sorry to hear that. Take all the time you need to grieve and do not worry about us at all. I'm seriously sorry for your loss and I wish you all the best during this : /

If there is one thing you can be absolutely sure of, it is that you have never been a "pornography creator". As stigmatizing as that title is due to the endless graveyard of Patron-based unfinished H-games and various exploitations in the industry, your games and writing always had 18+ content as a natural part of them. (Just like in real life.) If anything, I am proud to support a skilled smut writer with actual work ethic, who understands game design and who doesn't regurgitate stale ideas and tropes. Don't bury yourself into work because of what happened. Patreon payoffs and obligations, sales, engagement metrics, deadlines, work rhytm and "community" are all very great and important but are ultimately nothing more than a bunch of spooks. Yeah, life continues and you can't let yourself rot and stagnate, but don't push yourself to get back in the grind just because you have an obligation to. The only advice I am qualified to give here, is to keep taking meds and drink twice as much water. It's always about yourself first, not a bunch of coomers on the internets.

Runcible Technician

You are an adult story writer. There is a difference. It's important to remember that your stories have actually reached people emotionally, that the characters and tales you tell have depth. I may not know anything about you personally, but all I have to think is "The woman who wrote Crimson Gray lost her mother" and I feel the pain.

Koubik Židlický

My condolences, losing anyone is hard and dificult, take your time to cope with it.
