I may be an outlier but I love when my gaming podcast get political! It's a nice reminder that the people I listen to actually care about shit outside of video games.

Yeah I think Jeff tows the line really well. I don't want half the episode to be politics, nor do i want Jeff giving me weekly updates on what dumb thing someone did, but I do appreciate him letting his opinion come through here and there when he is passionate about something or its just relevant to him. Spending one episode at election time talking about who he voted for is pretty reasonable

Signed up to the Patreon after this episode, thanks Jeff! Not related but would also love timestamps because I value your opinions on industry news/games but with limited time it would be nice to be able to jump to relevant sections. Thank you!

My problem with the small maps playlists, is its the only way to level up your shit. Why would I grind 4 games on regular maps when i can get as many kills in a single match? Its less fun but grinding shit out on normal maps feels like a slog

The "accessible extraction shooter" is a PvE game. Cheaters and people with thousands of hours will ALWAYS ruin the PvP experience. Losing a match to a spinbot in Counterstrike is bad, but losing hours of progress to a cheater is a thousand times more crushing. The PvP aspect can be that we're all competing for loot and objectives, but I never want to die to a player in a game like that, it feels like shit

Thinking that the only reason that half of the country (including 30% of black men and 48% of Hispanic men) will vote differently than you is because they’re racist and/or hate gay people is a hell of a way to go through life. You’re in an echo chamber surrounded by a hall of mirrors.

Gribb85

100% agree. Especially interesting to non-US listeners like me too

Gribb85

We're all in an echo chamber - that is literally the content social media algorithms push to us in 2024. The important thing is to go outside your bubble, do your own research from trusted independent media sources and come to your own conclusion. Look at what each candidate says, what their policies are and vote from there. If I was in the US and the candidate I supported said "I'll protect women if they like it or not" and talked about using the army against "the enemy within" I'd probably wonder if I was supporting the right candidate, but hey that's just me.

Not a fan of the political conversation. Not because I don’t agree with Jeff, but his perspective lacks nuance. Both candidates are very similar. It’s only on a few key issues that they differ (abortion, immigration, deportation, taxation, social policies, antitrust, etc.). It’s hard to stomach voting for either when they both are down with continuing to finance a genocide, oil drilling, and de-escalating climate change policy. It wasn’t that big of a deal for me, but it was a bit cringeworthy.

Sounds like you live in your own little bubble Eric. I'm a trans woman and the positions of Jeff and the people he works around have always been clear to me and I appreciated it. I'm 31 and have been watching this dude since I was around 10, it means a lot for him to voice not just support but that there should be more. If this was Obama vs McCain that's a different story, it's not. It's clear the right wants me and my people to suffer. So uh, idk. That position, that vote is immoral if you know what's going on.

Erik

Voting for either party is immoral when a genocide is being funded. I say this having voting for Kamala. I despised Trump so much that I was willing to vote in someone I didn’t like. Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as the people who voted for Trump are racist/sexist. People’s needs aren’t being met. We can’t afford rent/homes, groceries, gas, healthcare, etc. Many families avoid having kids for the same reason. Our country is operating a fundamentally broken system. The two party system won’t work. Power is too concentrated. We need vast systemic change before it’s too late.
