Hey, here's the video version of this week's podcast!

Grand Theft Auto VI gets delayed and then gets a new trailer. Meanwhile, Gears of War is on its way to the PlayStation 5. Is that still weird, or have you gotten used to it yet? Also, let’s sum up some of this Giant Bomb stuff.

Woah. I didn't realize they fired you. You said you were going to leave anyways. But still insanity.

Fascinating to hear you reflect on the "failure" of the main concept of Giant Bomb, but success and failure are matters of time - everything ends, eventually. With that in mind, I would say that the first ten years of GB were a pretty remarkable success. The website anticipated a lot of what online media would eventually become, it made it clear that creating a direct connection with your audience was key, it made video central when others were just experimenting around it. To me, early Giant Bomb was one of the greatest websites ever made. Scientifically. The thing that really makes it stand out even now is the idea that you can function as an influencer without renouncing integrity and competence, and I think y'all paved the way for that. Corporate interference is a bummer, and I wish you had a chance to become something closer to what Kinda Funny is now, that in some ways feels like the kind of structure GB could have become if it was allowed to grow into its final form. In any case, it was a hell of a run, and very happy to still be able to follow the different alumni from GB around the web - and I agree, I don't doubt the "final team" will also find a way to continue doing cool stuff, and I'll be supporting on Patreon or similar avenues.

I wanted to come here and share about how much the stuff you did over the last 20 years meant to me, but listening to the podcast now the overwhelming feeling is that your Seth Rogen impression is amazing

Another great episode Jeff. As soon as you left Giant Bomb and Ben Pack had already left, there was no reason to stick around there anymore. So as soon as you started this I was on board. I miss the early Bombcasts as they were so entertaining. Thanks for creating Giant Bomb because it was the soundtrack playing in the background of a good decade. Treasure those years. PS: Ryan Davis was the best host of any podcast ever. That guy was a rare talent.
