You talk a lot about Syndicate and i realized i played a lot of the free demo for the 2012 game with a buddy of mine and i think we enjoyed it...? Does that game still have servers?

You mentioned Lode Runner. I worked with Doug Smith during what ended up being his last job about 10 years ago. He was on the West Coast team and I never got to meet him. But, I wish I talked to him more about development and Lode Runner instead of work crap.

Re: Jeff's bit at ~1:30 about how the replacement of artists/VAs/individual workers by AIs is like coal miners who just need job retraining: 1) as per the coal miner situation, society, at least in the U.S., has not proven itself willing to commit sufficient resources to job retraining to avoid the significant & wide-ranging negative impacts of those jobs going away, and 2) with all the warranted concern about income inequality these days, I don't think we've talked enough about the implications of taking away the income streams of hundreds of thousands of individuals and redirecting & consolidating all that income into the hands of a few billionaires. I enjoy listening to Jeff, but I found this segment a bit ignorant and short-sighted. ETA: Thinking more about "who benefits?": For all they uprooted, the internet and green energy had very obvious benefits to larger society in terms of info access and communication, unfucking the planet, new industries being created, etc. All outsourcing art to corporate AIs does is let tech bros get out of paying smaller content creators. That's why the field's held in the same regard as NFTs: the only ones who benefit from it are the guys at the top of the chain.

we're fast approaching the make it or break it moment for humanity. Either robots replace most jobs and as a result we get to all have near unlimited free time and the idea of working for a wage becomes a thing of the past, or robots replace most jobs and everyone that loses their job gets to live in the slums underneath the rich

The people that are in charge of spending our public money aren’t really worried about the coal miners they are worried about the people that own the coal mines. 🤷‍♂️

I wish we were in the timeline that reliably took the better option instead of consistently taking the worse.

I definitely agree we need another Jak game, but I’d also add another sly cooper game too.
