What is up with Xbox indeed. Thanks Jeff

Playstation has a long and storied track record of spinning marketing bullshit that never pans out. Pixar-style graphics anyone? They always get a good push from the initial BS, and the market never seems to punish them for it later. So good on them I guess?

I remember my first "Oh Shit" moment with the XBox One. I was willing to give them a pass on the game disc walk-back, the mandatory Kinect, and even the price point. I STILL wanted the XBONE before a PS4 because the 360 was such a better experience than the PS3. I got it with Forza 5, and had my buddy over to race split-screen. Each player had to have a local profile to play, and that profile was tied to their progress in the game. My buddy really wanted to drive the VW Corrado. It wasn't on the starting car list, but I had unlocked it in my garage. So I pass him my controller to drive the Corrado, and the Kinect sees us and SWITCHES PROFILES BECAUSE IT RECOGNIZES MY FACE HOLDING THE OTHER CONTROLLER. There was no way to let him drive the car I unlocked. That machine was made by control freak psychopaths. It didn't really matter to me personally in the end cause I knew I was gonna own everything, but I NEVER recommended the XBONE to any casual gaming friends. They lost a generation on word of mouth. It's so frustrating now because Xbox has course corrected so aggressively in so many ways, and the PS5 user experience is a huge step backward from the PS4. I'm also way more interested in XBox's future offerings than in Sony's commitment to safe sequels in broad appeal mega-franchises.

Microsoft may not be putting out bangers, but I would believe there are a lot of folks in that company that would be able to help with some general objective advice about how to build out certain features or ways to speed up a certain process. Especially considering this is a very new field of game for Arcane, getting advice from people that have made many a multiplayer/co-op game (even if not done super well) is better than taking a stab at it blindly. I read Phil's comment more as "we should have been available to help" and less of "we should have been there to intervene"

Redfall doesn't necessarily deserve the negative spotlight, but one of these games has to be the breaking point for the fans, and it seems like this was it. People are tired of games coming out like this from major developers, specifically microsoft even, and the $70 "premium" price feels like a slap in the face on top of everything

Personally I've never had an issue or any jankiness with Quick Resume. It's actually quite amazing to me that I can have a game sitting in quick resume for a week or months and I can resume right where I left off. I save of course in case it doesn't resume but other than if a game needs and update it's always worked for me.

Aaron J

Same… mostly. Only exceptions were Elden Ring, which quits back to the menu when you try to resume after playing in online mode (understandable), and sometimes it would drop a game to download a patch. Still, mostly works great and I’m impressed how many games you can hold in QR at once. Perfect for playing stuff like Forza.

On my series X it crashed a few games here and there. Which sucked for a few but there is some jank.
