This was handled perfectly. So many of us have been in relationships where, after being hurt, just a little progress on your partners’ part will convince you to to get right back in the game. The way Geordi acknowledged his own faults, and the work Cutie has put in…BUT put the brakes on in regards to jumping back in cause that progress doesn’t negate what happened and they aren’t there yet was exactly the way it should be. Great writing, as usual! 💜 worth the wait

ohh man. I'm so glad to hear from this boy again, I'm glad they're talking and that they've been checking in on each other! Geordi has always been special to me because I've been in his shoes; I've always struggled with being assertive and setting boundaries with people, and an emotionally abusive partner made those issues way worse. Seeing him gather his strength and be firm with Cutie and make sure he got what he needed was so impressive to me because I know that can be so scary when you've been with someone who will react to any pushback from you with aggression. I admit at first I wasn't sure what he meant when he said he had been at fault in the relationship's problems too, but when he explained himself I fully understood because those urges have been in me too. Though I haven't been with anyone since getting out of my last relationship, when I would think about trying again with anyone my tendency to put them on a pedestal and idealize them when they showed even basic decency to me was almost immediate. It's really hard to avoid when someone has laid the bar on the ground, when others clear that bar it seems like they're perfect, they're the one, they'll never hurt you and they'll be the one to fix everything that's broken, but that's not fair to expect of anyone. Cutie's behavior was not excusable, but given what they've said (or what Geordi has said they said I suppose) they seem to have trouble with not having answers, and their desire to help ended up overtaking their ability to see what they were doing to him clearly. Aaah this whole thing is just a masterclass in good communication and healthy dynamics. As much as I want to see these two make up and be happy again it's really good that they're taking slow steps. Of course since Cutie is a listener character it's hard to ascertain exactly how much they've learned over this time apart, but I couldn't help but notice: They didn't listen in on ANYONE the entire time :)

Erik slaying once again making me feel so many, many feelings
