Hi Dave. Love your weekly political content. I am on your side in how the media is doing an absolute terrible job, on purpose if I may add. I think there are two reasons why they are covering Trump this way. Both reasons bad in different ways. 1. Easiest explanation is that corporate media just wants Trump to win. Pure and simple. Trump will provide the media endless clicks and an endless flowing revenue stream. 2. They are scared that if they report what Trump does in a way Trump doesn’t like, he will retaliate against them if he becomes President, financially or physically, especially now since he will be immune from prosecution. So the media is hedging their bets. You’re right. The good news is, if there is, is that people are so fed up with MSM that we are more motivated to vote for them as a big “fuck you” to greedy corporate mainstream media. *respectfully, I don’t agree with Joy’s reasoning of “tone”. You bet that if Kamala does this shit, the mainstream media will come to get with torches and pitchforks.* Love to know your thoughts and keep up the great work!

Hi Dave - I imagine Kim Renfro is already aware of this, but JUST IN CASE, I wanted to make sure you had an opportunity to review and comment. GRRM posted a blog today voicing his concerns and disagreements about changes HOTD has made to the Fire & Blood story and, at a guess, probably violated some agreement in so doing. The blog has been taken down, but it’s archived in the below link. There are spoilers about the book storyline and also he drops a pretty big spoiler about the outline for season 3. You may not want to read it all, but I expect you will have thoughts you’d want to share. https://web.archive.org/web/20240904154210/https://georgerrmartin.com/notablog/2024/09/04/beware-the-butterflies/

I’m with you. It feels like joy is too caught up in knowing how the sausage is made and explaining it.

Listen to this week’s decoding tv!

I’m in GA (about 15 minutes from Devindra) and a registered Dem. I was just telling a friend this week how incredibly weird the amount of anti-Kamala mail I’ve been getting is… I was thinking, “Maybe they’re so confident, they even think they can sway us!” The kind of stuff on the mailers say things like, “Kamala EXTREME on abortion!” which I took as an attempt to convince voters that she’s even too extreme for the pro-choice side? Most likely they’re just sending this shit to anyone, of course.

Great conversation. For my two cents, I mostly think season 2 was great but it had a few blunders that should have been avoided. Rhaena/Sheepstealer in the final episodes being the most egregious. I can imagine GRRM throwing a pewter dragon at the tv when she just walks away from the escort with no plan, supplies, or oversight. That was the one thing that made me think of late seasons Game of Thrones laziness, and I suspect GRRM’s frustrations stem from memories of that kind of thing. I also have some big questions about other calls they’ve made that would seem to interfere with future events, but Rhaena’s story was the one that felt just plain lazy and silly.

Another great episode.
