Dave on Dave is an ongoing series in which David Cho and David Chen gather together to discuss life and work. Also, usually David Cho has some harsh words to say about David Chen's stuff!

In this episode, the Daves reflect on what independence day means to them this year and how it relates to Pixar's Elemental (some spoilers, fyi). Then they discuss how you can pretend to be an attractive person for rage-clicks. And finally, they debate whether or not Meta's Threads will be a success.

Just dropping a note to say thanks for doing these Dave. They are truly one of the hidden gem podcasts I look forward to the most

Hello Dave. Lovely discussion. Like Dave Cho's, my parents are back in their home country, which is Thailand. Everyone Asian classmate I had in High school had parents who eventually moved back. In my case, Thailand was a poor, almost third world country when they left in 1971, and now it's a thriving economy. I was just wondering if you ever see your parents moving back to Taiwan? Or are they here to stay?

They’ve never talked about going back. I think the risk of invasion from China also weighs heavily on them.

Dave, thank you so much for this, this was a really fantastic conversation. You often talk about films that deal with the immigrant experience, but it's good to hear your own perspective on it. This was really lovely, thanks again.

Y'all, I had such a wonderful time with this episode. In particular because of the personal immigrant stories. I imagine those of us listeners who are immigrants empathized and related with anecdotes quite a bit.
